COLORED GOLF BALL
A colored golf ball has improved luxurious appearance without impairing its visibility. The colored golf ball of the present invention includes a core; a cover placed around the core having dimples formed on its surface; and a coating layer placed on top of the cover, in which the coating layer includes a polymer matrix having a bright material dispersed therein, and an L.sub.0 value, which represents an L value in the Lab color system of the colored golf ball before being covered with the coating layer, is 25 or less, and the difference L between the L.sub.0 value and an L.sub.1 value, which represents an L value in the Lab color system of the colored golf ball after being covered with the coating layer, is 5 or more.
Golf ball alignment aid and method of forming same
A golf ball and a method of forming a golf ball is disclosed herein. The golf ball includes an alignment aid or feature that is integrally formed with a core body of the golf ball. A cover is provided that allows the alignment aid to be visible from an exterior of the golf ball. The alignment aid can be formed as central spherical segment that fuses two spherical cap portions with each other to form the core body. Different material selections can be made for the spherical cap portions and the central spherical segment that can further provide variation in performance characteristics of the golf ball.
Golf ball
In a golf ball having a core, a cover, at least one intermediate layer therebetween, and a coating layer on the cover, the cover is formed of a transparent or translucent resin composition and the intermediate layer is formed of a resin composition. The sphere consisting of the core encased by the intermediate layer has specific lightness and chroma values in the Lab color space. The coating layer is composed of one or more layer, at least one of which contains an effect pigment having polarizing properties. Markings are provided inside of the coating layer and have a specific L value. During use, the ball retains a visual to familiarity close to that of a white ball. Up close, it is clearly discernible from a white ball; from a distance, it appears white and is highly visible.
Colored golf ball and method of making same
Golf ball comprising core; casing layer; cover layer; and plurality of outer coating layers. Casing layer comprises an ionomer blend of at least one ionomer and a color concentrate resin that is included in an amount of 3-10 wt. % of the ionomer blend. Cover layer is transparent and comprises thermoplastic/thermoset urethane composition. First outer coating layer is adjacent to cover layer and comprises clear water-borne or solvent-borne primer; and second outer coating layer is adjacent to first outer coating layer and comprises gold pearl primer, white sparkle primer, or combination thereof; third outer coating layer is adjacent to second outer coating layer and comprises a clear topcoat. Alternatively, second outer coating layer comprises matte topcoat, clear glossy topcoat, or combination thereof. In all embodiments, first outer coating layer and/or second outer coating layer may be colorless.
COATING FREE, FINISHED GOLF BALL WITH IONOMER COVER
A coating free, finished golf ball and a method of forming a coating free, finished golf ball are disclosed herein. The golf ball has an outermost surface defined exclusively via the cover. The cover disclosed herein can be formed from an ionomer, in some examples.
Golf balls having chromogenic polymers in one or more layers
A golf ball includes a core, a cover layer, and a chromogenic polymer incorporated into at least one of the cover layer or a coating layer applied to the cover layer. The chromogenic polymer causes the golf ball to exhibit a color-shift effect upon application of an external stimulus. The color-shift effect can be measured as a deltaE of greater than 2 when the external stimulus is within a target range. The external stimulus may be different depending on the type of chromogenic polymer, and, as a result, the target range depends on the type of external stimulus.
