Golf balls having a core layer made from compositions containing borophene
Golf balls comprising a core having at least one layer and a cover having at least one layer are provided. At least one of the layers is made from a thermoplastic composition preferably comprising a borophene material. Mixtures of borophene material and polybutadiene rubbers or ethylene acid copolymers can be prepared. The borophene-containing compositions can be used to make a core layer having good strength and impact durability and it also should help provide the ball with high resiliency.

The soft cover is preferably composed of a highly neutralized polymer, a first ionomer, a second ionomer, and a paraloid impact modifier.
LOW COMPRESSION GOLF BALL
A golf ball includes a core, a mantle and a cover layer. The core includes polybutadiene and has a diameter of less than 1.45 inches. The core has a deflection of at least 0.220 inches under an applied static load of 200 pounds. The mantle includes a copolymer of ethylene and carboxylic acid. The carboxylic acid contains a plurality of acid groups wherein 40 to 100 percent of the acid groups of the carboxylic acid are neutralized with a metal ion. The cover layer includes a polyurethane material and has a Shore C hardness of greater than 80.
Golf balls having a center with surrounding foam outer core layer
Multi-layered golf balls having a dual-layered core and cover of at least one layer are provided. The dual-core construction includes a non-foamed inner core (center) made of a thermoplastic or thermoset composition such as polybutadiene rubber. An outer core layer comprising a foamed composition, such as polyurethane foam, is disposed about the inner core. In one version, the foamed outer core layer is made of a relatively soft foam composition having low flex modulus and density. The foamed outer core layer may specific gravity gradient within the layer, wherein the outer surface specific gravity is greater than the midpoint specific gravity. A cover may be disposed about the core structure. For example, an inner cover made of ethylene acid copolymer ionomer and outer cover made of polyurethane may be used.
