A plated steel includes: a steel; and a plating layer that is provided on a surface of the steel, in which the plating layer includes, by mass %, Al: 5.00% to 35.00%, Mg: 2.50% to 13.00%. Fe: 5.00% to 40.00%, Si: 0% to 2.00%, Ca: 0% to 2.00%, and a remainder of Zn and impurities, and in a cross section of the plating layer, the area fraction of a Zn solid-solution Fe.sub.2Al.sub.5 phase in which 5% or more of Zn is solid-soluted is 10% to 60% and the area fraction of a MgZn.sub.2 phase is 10% to 90%.

PLATED STEEL MATERIAL

The plated steel material is a plated steel material including a steel material and a plating layer provided on the surface of the steel material, wherein the plating layer has a predetermined average chemical composition, when the amount of Mg is % Mg and the amount of Al is % Al, % Mg/% Al is 0.80 or more, and a metal structure in a total field of view of 25,000 μm.sup.2 in a vertical cross section which is a cross section in a thickness direction of the plating layer includes 10 to 40 area % of a MgZn.sub.2 phase, 10 to 30 area % of an Al—Zn phase with a Zn content of 10% or more, 0 to 15 area % of an Al phase with a Zn content of less than 10%, and 25 area % or more of an Al/MgZn.sub.2/Zn ternary eutectic structure.

A method for manufacturing an austenitic stainless steel workpiece including the following successive steps: 1) providing a powder and sintering the powder to form a sintered alloy with an austenitic structure; the alloy having a nitrogen content greater than or equal to 0.1% by weight, 2) treating the sintered alloy to transform the austenitic structure into a ferritic structure or ferrite+ austenite two-phase structure on a surface layer of the alloy, 3) treating the sintered alloy to transform the ferritic or ferrite+ austenite two-phase structure obtained in step 2) into an austenitic structure and, after cooling, forming the workpiece which, on the layer subjected to the transformations in steps 2) and 3), has a density higher than that of the core of the workpiece. The present description also relates to the workpiece obtained by the method which has a very dense surface layer (≥99%).

Hot rolled steel sheet having excellent strength and elongation

Provided is a hot rolled steel sheet having excellent strength and elongation. The hot rolled steel sheet contains, by wt %: carbon (C): 0.05% or more and less than 0.4%, manganese (Mn): 10% to 15%, aluminum (Al): 2% or less, silicon (Si): 0.1 to 2%, molybdenum (Mo): 0.5% or less (excluding 0), vanadium (V): 0.5% or less (excluding 0), phosphorus (P): 0.01% or less, sulfur (S): 0.01% or less, and a remainder of iron (Fe) and inevitable impurities. The hot rolled steel sheet has a microstructure of the hot rolled steel sheet containing, by area %, tempered martensite: 50% to 70%, secondary martensite: 20% or less (excluding 0), epsilon martensite: 2% or less (excluding 0), and retained austenite: 8% to 30%. The hot rolled steel sheet has a tensile strength of at least 1500 MPa, a yield strength of at least 900 MPa and elongation of at least 20%.

A coating system for a surface of a superalloy component is provided. The coating system includes a MCrAlY coating on the surface of the superalloy component, where M is Ni, Fe, Co, or a combination thereof. The MCrAlY coating generally has a higher chromium content than the superalloy component. The MCrAlY coating also includes a platinum-group metal aluminide diffusion layer. The MCrAlY coating includes Re, Ta, or a mixture thereof. Methods are also provided for forming a coating system on a surface of a superalloy component.
