MULTI-PIECE SOLID GOLF BALL
In a multi-piece solid golf ball having a core, a cover and an intermediate layer therebetween, the core, an intermediate layer-encased sphere and the ball have surface hardnesses which satisfy a specific relationship, and the intermediate layer and the cover have thicknesses which satisfy a specific relationship. Also, the core has a hardness profile in which the hardnesses at the core surface, core center, a position 5 mm from the core center, and a position midway between the surface and center of the core satisfy specific relationships. This golf ball, when used by mid- and high-level amateurs, enables the golfer to maintain an adequate distance on shots with a driver and achieve a good distance on iron shots, has a good spin performance on approach shots and has a good feel on impact. In addition, the ball has an excellent scuff resistance when struck with a grooved wedge.
Golf ball incorporating at least one layer of neutralized acid polymer composition containing low molecular weight acid wax(es) as sole acid polymer component and low molecular weight non-acid wax(es) in the non-acid polymer component
Golf ball comprising layer(s) comprised of neutralized acid polymer composition consisting of mixture of: (a) low molecular weight acid-containing wax(es); (b) non-acid polymer(s) including at least one low molecular weight non-acid wax such as high density oxidized polyethylene homopolymers; ethylene maleic anhydride copolymers; polypropylene maleic anhydride copolymers; polypropylene homopolymers; ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers; high density oxidized homopolymers; oxidized copolymers; polyethylene micronized waxes; polytetrafluoroethylene micronized waxes; emulsifiable low molecular weight non-acid waxes; non-emulsifiable low molecular weight non-acid waxes; and/or chemically modified low molecular weight non-acid waxes; and (c) organic acid(s) or salt thereof. Molecular weight of each low molecular weight acid-containing wax is about 500 to 7000, or up to 30,000. Interactions between components (a), (b), and (c) advantageously produce layer of ionomeric material having heat stability, processability, and well-retained durability, adhesion, CoR, compression and targeted feel without need for blending high and low molecular weight acid-containing polymer(s).
Golf balls having a foam center with regions of different hardness
Golf balls having a multi-layered core made of a foamed composition are provided. The core preferably has a foam inner core (center) and surrounding thermoset or thermoplastic outer core layer. Preferably, a polyurethane foam composition is used to form the foam center. The foam inner core preferably includes a fully-foamed center region and a partially or completely-collapsed foam outer region. The hardness of the fully-foamed region is different than the hardness of the collapsed foam region. Non-foamed thermoset or thermoplastic materials such as polybutadiene rubbers or ethylene acid copolymer ionomer may be used to form the outer core layer. The ball further includes a cover that may be multi-layered. The foam cores have good resiliency.
GOLF BALL
A golf ball has a plurality of dimples 12 and a land 14 on a surface thereof. The golf ball further has a large number of minute projections 18 formed on surfaces of the dimples 12 and the land 14. The minute projections 18 are exposed on the surface of the golf ball. The surface of the golf ball has an arithmetic average height Sa of not less than 0.5 m and not greater than 30 m. The surface of the golf ball has a maximum height Sz of not less than 5 m and not greater than 200 m.
MULTI-PIECE SOLID GOLF BALL
In a golf ball having a two-layer core consisting of an inner core layer and an outer core layer, an intermediate layer and a cover, the core is formed primarily of a base rubber, the diameter of the inner core layer is at least 21 mm, the intermediate layer and cover are each formed primarily of a resin material, the overall core has a specific hardness profile, the inner core layer has a higher specific gravity than the outer core layer, and the sphere consisting of the core encased by the intermediate layer has a higher surface hardness than the ball. This golf ball has a high initial velocity at impact while holding down the spin rate on full shots with a driver or long iron, enabling a good distance to be achieved. The ball also has a good controllability in the short game.
GOLF BALL
In a golf ball having a core and a cover of at least one layer, the outermost layer of the cover is formed of a resin composition that includes (A) 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin, and (B) 1 to 30 parts by weight of a compound having a fluorene skeleton, or a derivative thereof, and the resin composition has a melt flow rate of at least 3.0 g/10 min. This resin composition for golf balls has an improved injection-moldability and thus enables the ball to achieve both a reduced spin rate and a good durability (scuff resistance).
Golf balls having a core with surrounding intermediate foam layer
Multi-layered golf balls having a core, intermediate layer, and cover are provided. The ball includes a non-foamed inner core (center) made of a thermoplastic or thermoset composition such as polybutadiene rubber. An intermediate layer comprising a foamed composition, such as polyurethane foam, is disposed about the inner core. The foamed intermediate layer may have a specific gravity gradient within the layer, wherein the outer surface specific gravity is greater than the midpoint specific gravity. Ball constructions having two intermediate layers, wherein at least one layer is a foamed layer can be made. A cover having at least one layer is disposed about the intermediate layer.
Multi-layer golf ball
Multi-piece golf balls having a multi-layered solid core and multi-layered cover are provided.
DIMPLE PATTERNS WITH SURFACE TEXTURE FOR GOLF BALLS
Golf ball comprising dimple(s) incorporating three or more linear channels having the same channel length L and same channel width CW; all linear channels extend radially outward from a centroid of the dimple toward a perimeter of the dimple without intersecting the dimple's centroid. Each linear channel may extend radially outward from a location on the dimple that is a distance Cd from the dimple's centroid, wherein Cd>0. Alternatively, at least one of the three or more linear channels has a different channel length L and/or a different channel width CW than at least one other linear channel. Dimple may have circular or non-circular plan shape; channels may not intersect each other; at least one linear channel may intersect the dimple's perimeter; and linear channels may be spaced by n separation angles .sub.S, wherein n is number of linear channels, which may be equal, or at least two differ.
GOLF BALL
A golf ball includes a spherical core and a cover positioned outside the core. The core has an inner layer and an outer layer positioned outside the inner layer. The inner layer is obtained by crosslinking a rubber composition. The rubber composition of the inner layer includes a butyl-based rubber as a base rubber. The inner layer has a diameter Di of not less than 10 mm and not greater than 34 mm. A difference (H2H0) between a Shore C hardness H2 at a surface of the outer layer and a Shore C hardness H0 at a central point of the inner layer is less than 35.
