A hair styling appliance for curling hair, includes a gripping handle along a first axis and a housing having a winding chamber defining a second axis an introduction slot and an extraction opening. The first and second axes form a plane. A barrel has fixed and free ends disposed close to the extraction opening and extends in the winding chamber along a third axis in the plane. The third axis is inclined at an angle with respect to the first axis such that the free end is farther away from the gripping handle than the fixed end. A hollow winder is arranged around and coaxially with the barrel. The winder is mounted to rotate about the third axis and to successively grasp the proximal end of the lock, concomitantly wind the lock about the barrel and the winder, and then completely wind the lock around the barrel, as it rotates.

Disclosed herein are devices and methods for styling hair. A hair styling device is described with a cylindrical body comprising a semi-compressible core, a smooth layer surrounding the semi-compressible core, a proximal cylindrical top end, and a distal cylindrical boom end, wherein the distal cylindrical bottom end is parallel to the proximal cylindrical top end configured on each end of the cylindrical body. The hair styling device further comprises a strap comprising a first end, and a second end, wherein the first end of the strap is fixedly attached to the cylindrical body adjacent to the proximal cylindrical top end and the second end of the strap is configured to be helically wound around the cylindrical body and removably attached to the cylindrical body adjacent to the distal cylindrical bottom end. Methods are described that allow use of the hair styling devices to dry hair and style hair either curled or straight.

Disclosed herein are devices and methods for styling hair. A hair styling device is described with a cylindrical body comprising a semi-compressible core, a smooth layer surrounding the semi-compressible core, a proximal cylindrical top end, and a distal cylindrical boom end, wherein the distal cylindrical bottom end is parallel to the proximal cylindrical top end configured on each end of the cylindrical body. The hair styling device further comprises a strap comprising a first end, and a second end, wherein the first end of the strap is fixedly attached to the cylindrical body adjacent to the proximal cylindrical top end and the second end of the strap is configured to be helically wound around the cylindrical body and removably attached to the cylindrical body adjacent to the distal cylindrical bottom end. Methods are described that allow use of the hair styling devices to dry hair and style hair either curled or straight.

A hair curling system embodying a novel device and method for overnight use is provided. The hair curling system includes a sectioning tool and a separate curling strip. The sectioning tool may include an elastic cord forming a loop shape, wherein a stopper member is disposed there along. The curling strip may include an elongated strip of material that terminates in a collar. The collar may define a collar opening adapted to receive the stopper member. The user may use the sectioning tool to secure a predetermined section of hair whereby the stopper member may subsequently receive the collar and thus hang the attached elongated strip near the scalp of the user. The user may then twirl the predetermined section of hair using the entire curling strip. The sectioning tool is then removed, facilitating a comfortable sleep with at least one curling strip in place.

A hair curling system embodying a novel device and method for overnight use is provided. The hair curling system includes a sectioning tool and a separate curling strip. The sectioning tool may include an elastic cord forming a loop shape, wherein a stopper member is disposed there along. The curling strip may include an elongated strip of material that terminates in a collar. The collar may define a collar opening adapted to receive the stopper member. The user may use the sectioning tool to secure a predetermined section of hair whereby the stopper member may subsequently receive the collar and thus hang the attached elongated strip near the scalp of the user. The user may then twirl the predetermined section of hair using the entire curling strip. The invention relates to a hair styling appliance (1) for curling and straightening hair, comprising: a first and a second elongate jaw (2, 3) that are pivotable with respect to one another, the first jaw (2) having a first housing (6) bearing a first flat internal treatment surface (4), and the second jaw (3) having a second housing (7) bearing a second flat internal treatment surface (5), the internal surfaces (4, 5) being intended to pinch a lock of hair, at least one heating element (41, 51) intended to heat at least one internal treatment surface (4, 5). According to the invention, the greatest width l1 of the first housing (6) is less than or equal to 90% of the greatest width l2 of the second housing (7), and at least one of the first housing (6) and the second housing (7) is asymmetric with respect to the median plane in longitudinal section of said first housing (6) or said second housing (7), respectively.

The invention relates to a hair styling appliance (1) for curling and straightening hair, comprising: a first and a second elongate jaw (2, 3) that are pivotable with respect to one another, the first jaw (2) having a first housing (6) bearing a first flat internal treatment surface (4), and the second jaw (3) having a second housing (7) bearing a second flat internal treatment surface (5), the internal surfaces (4, 5) being intended to pinch a lock of hair, at least one heating element (41, 51) intended to heat at least one internal treatment surface (4, 5). There is provided a hair styling device having a body defining a chamber adapted to accommodate a length of hair, the chamber having a primary opening through which the length of hair may pass. The device also has a rotatable element adapted to engage the length of hair adjacent to the primary opening, and an elongate member around which, in use, the length of hair is wound by the rotatable element. The device has at least one sensor adapted to detect misplaced hair. The sensor can be connected to a control system for the rotatable element whereby rotation of the rotatable element can be prevented when misplaced hair is detected by the sensor.

There is provided a hair styling device having a body defining a chamber adapted to accommodate a length of hair, the chamber having a primary opening through which the length of hair may pass. The device also has a rotatable element adapted to engage the length of hair adjacent to the primary opening, and an elongate member around which, in use, the length of hair is wound by the rotatable element. The device has at least one sensor adapted to detect misplaced hair. The sensor can be connected to a control system for the rotatable element whereby rotation of the rotatable element can be prevented when misplaced hair is detected by the sensor.

The invention relates to a hair styling aid (1), in particular for curling hair, and to a method of styling (curling) hair. The hair styling aid (1) comprises a guide (16) for receiving a length of hair to be styled, and a rotatable element (20). In use, the rotatable element (20) rotates relative to the guide (16), pushing a portion of the hair to one side and winding it around a protrusion (36).
