A hand-held puzzle game having an outer cube-shaped puzzle surrounding an inner spherical puzzle. An embodiment of the invention provides a six-sided, two-by-two cube puzzle containing a spherical puzzle with nine floating two-color parts and six pole centers, three of which are V-shaped to restrict rotation in some directions. The outer cube and inner sphere puzzles maybe solved independently, or the two puzzles may be solved jointly to solve the entire puzzle.

SPHERE PUZZLE

A sphere puzzle having a plurality of sliding blocks, a series of protrusions, and first rails. The sliding blocks move in a double row along rings on tracks through the necks and under the bottom surfaces of second rails and stay fixed in their correct position with the help of a sliding ball on dents of the rings. A missing block enables movements with a large number of combinations, in order to complete required designs on the sphere surface.

A constrained puzzle device including a housing formed with a radial crescent gutter; one or more slots providing an opening from an outer edge of the housing toward a centerline of the housing; a cartridge wheel nested within the slot and rotatably coupled to the housing, the cartridge wheel having multiple channels passing therethrough. The constrained puzzle device further includes one or more dials rotatably coupled with the housing, the dials configured with structures extending at least partially over the crescent gutter to create one or more pocket regions. Puzzle objects can be disposed within a channel of the cartridge wheel and the slot of the housing, or within the crescent gutter of the housing and a pocket formed by at least one arm member of the dial. The puzzle objects can be moved around in the constrained puzzle device as a user rotates the dials and/or the cartridge wheels.

A system and method for detecting colored objects and decoding messages are provided. A light source is operatively coupled to a power source for emitting light on a colored object. A light receiver is configured to receive the emitted light from the light source as the light reflects off the colored object and is further configured to detect color of the reflected light. Further, a processor is operatively coupled to processor readable media and is configured to receive, via a communications module, information representing the color of the reflected light. A housing is included for supporting the light source, the light receiver, the processor and the communications module. The processor is configured to process the information representing the color of the reflected light and provide at least partial message information corresponding to the color.
