Method and system for improving the efficiency of state information transfer over a wireless communications network
The present invention is directed to a system and method for managing state information related to an interactive application to accommodate one or more users participating in an interactive application session, wherein the state information comprises local state information specific to each of the one or more user's unique view of the interactive application and global state information. The system of the present invention may comprise a telecommunications network; an application server in communication with the telecommunications network for managing the global state information relative to all of the users participating in the interactive application session; and at least one mobile client device in communication with the application server over the telecommunications network for managing the local state information for each of the one or more users. The method of the present invention may comprise the steps of structuring the state information for optimized delivery over the telecommunications network; and transferring the state information over the telecommunications network.
Managing participants in an online session
The present invention relates to an application that is configured to be operated in a multi-participant environment on a computer network. The application manages participants in an online session of a multi-user application so that if one of the participants exits the session, the session can continue without interruption. The application initiates an online session of the multi-user application, wherein the online session includes two or more participants comprised of network computers that are communicatively linked to a computer network. If the application detects that a first participant has disconnected from the online session, wherein the first participant is responsible for managing certain managerial functionality associated with the running of the multi-user application, then the application broadcasts a notification to existing participants of the online session over the communication network, thereby notifying the existing participants that the first participant has disconnected from the online session. The initiating application then re-assigns the functionality associated with the first participant to an existing participant of the online session. The participants can be communicating in a peer-to-peer arrangement or can be performing server duties in a client-server arrangement.
Generating game configurations
A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for generating game configurations are presented. For example, a system may receive a game configuration request message from a client device being operated by a player playing a virtual game. The game configuration request message may be sent, for example, in response to the player initiating a new game of the virtual game. The system may then select a game configuration based at least in part on historical performance data associated with the selected game configuration. The historical performance data may accumulate performance data from a group of players that previously played the virtual game using the selected game configuration. The system then communicates the selected game configuration to the client device. The player may play the virtual game using the selected game configuration as the initial game configuration for the virtual game.
System and method for session management in a multiplayer network gaming environment
Disclosed are systems and methods for session management. The disclosed system allows for seamless merging and splitting of network sessions in a multiplayer network gaming environment. Seamless session management allows dynamic movement of players in a virtual world during gameplay without unnecessary loading and/or stalling. As the players in the virtual world move around, the management of active game sessions can be improved to effect a more realistic perceived population.
Terrain radar and gradual building of a route in a virtual environment of a video game
A method for influencing a gaming world of a video game. The method including cross-pollinating a first path using an inter-game communication medium across a plurality of virtual environments of a plurality of asynchronous game plays of a plurality of players playing the video game. The method including determining that a first path has been traversed one or more times by one or more characters of the plurality of players in the plurality of asynchronous game plays. The method including improving the first path based on a number of times the first path has been traversed by the one or more characters. The method including cross-pollinating the first path that has been improved across the plurality of virtual environments.
MASSIVE MULTI-PLAYER COMPUTE
Methods and systems for managing processing resources of an online game include executing the online game for one or more users. Each user is provided access to virtual locations in a gaming world of the online game. A compute is assigned for processing gaming interactivity of the one or more users in the gaming world. A number of users accessing a region within a virtual location are determined. When the number of users exceeds a predefined limit for the compute assigned to the users in the region, the region is divided into a plurality of sub-regions and additional compute is assigned for the region so that the compute and the additional compute can process gaming interactivity for the users in each of the sub-regions defined in the gaming world.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR UPDATING IN-GAME CONTENT
Systems and methods for updating content of a mobile video game allow for mobile communication devices to receive updated content for video games that operate on the devices. The updates may be promotional in nature, and may be pre-selected based on the device type, service, or service provider. The game may contain instructions that cause the mobile communication device to contact an interface and/or server to receive updated content. After the updated content is received by the mobile communication device, the content may be displayed in-game. The user of the mobile communication device may be provided with one or more options that affect the frequency or ability to receive or display updated content. In addition, the server may track what content has already been received by the mobile communication device.
INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD
In the case where an event occurs in game software being executed, an event information acquiring section acquires, from the game software, event information including an event code that identifies the event that has occurred. An update processing section updates a record associated with the acquired event information in a first memory. A transmission processing section sends the acquired event information from a communication unit to outside.
METHOD AND SYSTEMS FOR DYNAMIC QUEST GENERATION
Methods and systems are provided for executing a video game for a player. The method includes determining a golden path associated with a gameplay of a player. The golden path includes a plurality of main story quests associated with the golden path. The method includes processing the gameplay to identify player gaming metrics as the player progresses along the golden path. The method includes examining the player gaming metrics to identify a game region along the golden path where the player is determined to need assistance to advance in the video game. The method includes generating a dynamic quest for the player. The dynamic quest is generated with one or more sub-parts to enable acquisition of a reward that is useful for assisting the player to make advancement in said video game along the golden path. The method includes inserting the dynamic quest along the golden path, the inserting presents the dynamic quest to the player and enables said acquisition of said reward
Electronic game moment identification
One embodiment provides a method, including: receiving, at an information handling device, controlling input data, wherein the controlling input data is associated with action input provided by a user that affects an object in a video game; identifying, based at least in part on the controlling input data, a moment in the video game; and storing the identified moment in an accessible database. Other aspects are described and claimed.
