20230101935 · 2023-03-30 ·

A lawn mower includes a blade assembly configured to perform a cutting function. The blade assembly includes an upper blade mounted about a blade rotation axis and an upper blade proximal portion being substantially flat and including a first cutting edge. A lower blade is mounted in overlap with the upper blade about the blade rotation axis. The lower blade includes a lower blade proximal portion positioned outward from the lower blade mounting portion in a radial direction, a lower blade end portion positioned outward from the lower blade proximal portion and below the lower blade proximal portion, and a second cutting edge. A lower blade falling portion transitions from the lower blade proximal portion to the lower blade end portion.

WALK OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT UNIT HAVING HANDLE MOUNTED OPERATIONAL CONTROLS USING COMPLIANT MECHANISMS

An outdoor power equipment unit, such as a lawn mower, includes a frame movable over the ground. A handle assembly is provided on the frame to allow an operator to walk on the ground behind the handle assembly while operating the unit. A traction drive and a ground grooming or working implement are carried on the frame. A traction control hand grip and an implement control bail are carried on the handle assembly. Both the hand grip and the bail are movable relative to the handle assembly by flexure provided by first and send compliant mechanisms.

MOWER COMPONENTS

Embodiments of blades for use with lawn mowers are provided herein. In some embodiments, a blade for a lawn mower includes a substantially flat central portion having a rotational axis configured to be coupled to a motor for rotating the blade; a distal portion extending radially from opposing sides of the flat central portion, the distal portion being a cutting region of the blade when mowing and defined by the following: a non-zero leading angle defining an angle of attack; and a non-zero camber percentage; and an intermediate portion disposed between the central portion and the distal portion and configured to minimize an amount of torsional stress between the central portion and the distal portion, wherein each distal portion comprises about 25 percent or less of a total length of the blade.

ELECTRIC WORK MACHINE WITH CUTTING BLADE

The present invention includes: a cutting blade; an electric motor (5) that rotationally drives the cutting blade; a clutch that engages and disengages transmission of motive power between the electric motor (5) and the cutting blade; operation means for operating the clutch; and controller (30) for controlling operation of the electric motor (5). By means of the operation means, it is possible to switch between a state in which the clutch is disengaged in which motive power of the electric motor (5) is not transmitted to the cutting blade and a state in which the clutch is engaged and motive power of the electric motor (5) is transmitted to the cutting blade. By stopping energization of the electric motor (5) after a state in which the clutch is disengaged is released, and restarting the electric motor (5) after a prescribed time period elapses from the time of stopping rotation of the electric motor (5), the controller (30) stops rotation of the electric motor (5) during a period that includes a moment at which the clutch is engaged.

COMBINATION MOWER AND EDGING DEVICE

A combination mower and edging device includes a chassis having a pair of front wheels, a pair of rear wheels and a pair of handlebars. An electric driving motor is connected to the rear wheels, and an electric mower motor is connected to a cutting blade that is positioned within an annular cutting chamber located beneath the chassis. An electric edging motor is coupled to a vertically oriented edging blade that is positioned along a distal end of an elongated support rod. The rod moves the edging blade between a raised and lowered configuration via a control lever on the handlebars. The mower motor, drive motor and edging motor are connected to an onboard controller and operated by user interface devices located along the handlebars. A housing encloses each of the motors and a collection bag is connected to an opening within the annular chamber to collect grass clippings.
