Systems and methods for cryogenic storage
The present disclosure provides cryogenic storage systems and methods of using the cryogenic storage systems. A cryogenic storage system of the present disclosure may comprise a cryogenic tank with an inner door and an outer door, and a robot apparatus located adjacent to the cryogenic tank. The cryogenic tank may store multiple racks such that at most a single rack is removable through the inner door or the outer door. The cryogenic tank may store the multiple racks in multiple groups of racks comprising a first group of racks located at a first radial distance and a second group of racks located at a second radial distance that is greater than the first radial distance. The robot apparatus may selectively open and close the inner or outer doors, and insert or withdraw the single rack into or out of the cryogenic tank through the inner door or the outer door.
Shipping Container
The present invention relates to a shipping container for cryopreserved biological samples in which a cryopreserved sample can be maintained on arrival at its destination for a period of time, for example several months.
SYSTEMS, APPARATUS AND METHODS TO PICK AND/OR PLACE SPECIMEN CONTAINERS
A system, device and method to pick and/or place specimen containers may include a pick and/or place head, a first secondary reservoir, and optionally a second secondary reservoir which hold cryogenic fluid in a liquid form, above a main reservoir of cryogenic liquid, to cool the pick and/or place head and/or to cool or recharge the specimen containers during transfer operations. Storage locations may be arrayed in wedge-shaped sets spaced above cryogenic liquid of the main reservoir of a cryogenic storage tank at one or more levels, and pivotal about a central axis via a motor and control system. A gap (e.g., wedge shaped gap) between two successively angularly adjacent sets of storage locations of the sets of storage locations at an upper level provides access to the storage locations of the sets of storage locations at a lower level. Cryogenic liquid temperatures and levels in reservoirs are monitored.
Hydraulically controlled cryopreservation device
This cryogenic preservation or vitrification device (1) comprises: an accumulator (2) including a first volume of pressurised hydraulic oil; a control system controlling a valve (20) capable of releasing a second volume of hydraulic oil from the accumulator toward a cylinder (55) by means of a pipe (4); a cylinder (55) including a piston (6) configured to be driven by the second volume of hydraulic oil and to displace a first volume of cryogenic fluid to a cryogenic vessel (7) intended to receive a sample (8) to be cryogenically preserved.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CRYOSTORAGE AND MANIPULATION OF A PLURALITY OF CONTAINER UNITS
An apparatus for cryostorage and manipulation of a plurality of container units includes a cryochamber having a cryo-access port. The cryochamber is electrically cooled at cryogenic temperatures. A unit holder is located inside the cryochamber and is configured to hold a plurality of container units. A user access area is provided for selectively permitting access to a chosen container unit by an authenticated user who has been authenticated by the apparatus. A motive grasper is provided for selectively removing the chosen container unit from the cryochamber through the cryo-access port, and selectively placing the chosen container unit into the user access area.
Stem cell manufacturing system, stem cell information management system, cell transport apparatus, and stem cell frozen storage apparatus
A stem cell manufacturing system for manufacturing stem cells from somatic cells includes: one or more closed production device(s) configured to produce stem cells from somatic cells; one or more drive device(s) configured to be connected with the production device(s) and drive the production device(s) in such a manner as to maintain the production device(s) in an environment suitable for producing stem cells; one or more cryopreservation device(s) configured to cryopreserve the produced stem cells; a first memory device configured to store whether or not somatic cells have been introduced to the production device(s), as a first state; a second memory device configured to store whether or not the production device(s) is/are connected with the drive device(s), as a second state; and a third memory device configured to store whether or not the produced stem cells can be placed in the cryopreservation device(s), as a third state.
PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE CONTROLLED CRYOPRESERVATION
The disclosure provides processes for temperature and pressure controlled cryopreservation of samples by using isochoric systems.
APPARATUS TO FACILITATE TRANSFER OF BIOLOGICAL SPECIMENS STORED AT CRYOGENIC CONDITIONS
A system and method facilitates transfers of specimen containers (e.g., vials with caps) between storage cassettes and carrier cassettes. The storage cassettes are designed to be stored in cryogenic refrigerators while the carrier cassettes are designed to be temporarily stored in a portable carrier. Identification information is read from wireless transponders carried by the specimen containers. Visual mappings of the positions of the specimen container in the cassettes is provided. Presence and position of the specimen containers in the cassettes is verified, and alerts of inconsistencies provided along with corrective commands. Inventories of specimen container and even specific specimen holders are provided.
Liquid nitrogen tank
A liquid nitrogen tank includes a tank, a storage rack and a drive component. The tank includes a tank cover, a tank body, a vacuum cavity layer and a heat-insulating cavity layer. The tank cover is disposed to cover on the tank body. An access door is provided on the tank body. A storage cavity is provided in the tank body. The heat-insulating cavity layer is provided on a periphery of the storage cavity. The vacuum cavity layer is provided on a periphery of the heat-insulating cavity layer. The storage rack is provided in the storage cavity. A plurality of cryopreservation tube racks are stored in the storage rack. The drive component can drive the storage rack to rotate and move up and down in the storage cavity, and can drive the plurality of cryopreservation tube racks to move to a position corresponding to the access door.
CRYOGENIC STORAGE CONTAINER
A portable cryogenic container includes a porous material configured to absorb a cryogenic coolant such as liquid nitrogen. The coolant-absorbing material at least partially defines a storage cavity in the container that is configured to accept and support a cassette or other type of contents container in which a product to be cryogenically stored is contained. With cryogenic coolant absorbed into the container, the temperature within the storage cavity can be maintained sufficiently close to the boiling point of the cryogenic coolant to preserve post-thaw viability of the stored product for several hours.
