The instant disclosure relates to methods for treating hair, for example, methods for imparting desirable cosmetic properties to the hair, especially hair treated with a chemical treatment composition. The methods include: applying a hair-treatment composition to chemically treated hair, for example, within 30 minutes from when a chemical treatment composition is rinsed from the hair, the hair-treatment composition comprising: one or more polyurethane latex polymers; and rinsing the hair-treatment composition from the hair within 30 minutes from applying the hair-treatment composition to the hair. After rinsing the hair-treatment composition from the hair, the hair may be subsequently dried and styled.

Hair that is damaged during a relaxing treatment with hydroxide-containing relaxing agents, can be treated with formulations containing one or more active agents. The active agent formulations can be applied simultaneously with the hair relaxing formulation, or optionally applied immediately following application of the relaxing formulation, to reduce damage and breakage. Use of the active agent formulation along with a relaxing treatment can be used to control the level of curl achieved or retained in the relaxed hair, as compared to the natural amount of curl in the untreated hair.

A hair/scalp care method includes a washing step of washing a target head part that is one or both of hair and a scalp of a human body, a drying step of drying the target head part that has been washed in the washing step, and a fine water particle application step of applying fine water particles having a size of 50 nanometers or less to the target head part. By applying the fine water particles to the target head part, damage to the target head part can be reduced or the damaged target head part can be repaired. Further, when an agent is used, an effect brought by the agent can be enhanced by applying the fine water particles to the target head part.
