An item of seating furniture includes a chassis, a seat part having a pivotable inclination, a back part pivotable relative to the seat part, and a foot part, which is connected to the seat part via a foot-part adjustment mechanism and can be pivoted out. To adjust the item of seating furniture from an upright sitting position into a lying position, the seat part is moved forward relative to the chassis. In the sitting position, the foot part is pivoted in, substantially underneath the seat part. In the lying position, the foot part is pivoted out, in front of the seat part, such that the seat part is extended by the foot part. When being pivoted into a lying position, the back part moves forward, together with the seat part, relative to the chassis, and therefore, in any pivoted position, the back part does not project, or only insignificantly projects, beyond the rear edge of the item of seating furniture.

The invention relates to the adjustment of a piece of seating and reclining furniture with a seat and a backrest, in a positioning mode the seat and/or the backrest are optionally positioned in an upright basic position, a first reclining position or a second reclining position by means of at least one actuator and the seat and/or the backrest in an activatable relaxation mode being movable back and forth. The seat and/or the backrest is adjusted in the positioning mode as well as in the activatable relaxation mode between the first reclining position and the second reclining position by means of the same actuator.

The present disclosure relates to a mechanical extension apparatus for an extendable chair unit and a chair unit including such mechanical extension apparatus. The mechanical extension apparatus includes: a reclining apparatus that include multiple links attached to the seat, the backrest and the footrest of the extendable seat, and such reclining apparatus is configured to convert the extendable seat between a sitting position, a TV position, and a lying position. The mechanical extension apparatus also includes an actuator that is attached to the reclining apparatus, and the actuator is configured to electronically convert the extendable seat between the sitting position and the TV position; and the reclining apparatus is configured to convert the extendable seat between the TV position and the lying position by non-electric actuation.

The present disclosure relates to a mechanical extension apparatus for an extendable chair unit and a chair unit including such mechanical extension apparatus. A simplified, compact, recliner mechanism is provided which can be adapted to many types of recliner design. A front linkage assembly and a rear linkage assembly provide the desired movement of the seat and back when moving from the TV position to the fully reclined position, obviating the need for a track and roller design. Moreover, a front pivot link and a rear pivot link are provided and oriented in a manner that allows the desired forward seat movement as the recliner moves from the closed position to the TV position. The geometries of the front linkage assembly, the rear linkage assembly, the front pivot link and the rear pivot link allow a slim profile design allowing great flexibility in the design of the recliner.

A rocker recliner is disclosed that has a pair of stationary arms; a seat disposed between the arms; an ottoman; a back coupled to the seat. A full-recline linkage mechanism couples the ottoman, the seat and the back and is operable to move the ottoman, the seat and the back between a closed position, a TV position and a fully reclined position. A rocker assembly is coupled between the full-recline linkage mechanism and the stationary arms that allows the seat, back and ottoman to rock between the stationary arms in any of the closed position, the TV position or the fully reclined position.
