A beverage maker includes a body and a cover movably attached to the body. The body includes therein (among other components), a hot liquid generator (HLG) having a tank, an inlet for receiving liquid into the tank and an outlet, at least one heater in thermal communication with the liquid in the HLG tank, and a discharge port in fluid communication with the outlet of the HLG for discharge of the liquid. The cover is movably attached to the body between a closed position and an open position. At least one valve permits the discharge of the liquid via the discharge port in a closed position of the cover. The at least one valve is mechanically actuated by the cover in the open position of the cover to substantially prevent the discharge of the liquid via the discharge port.

A capsule for beverage preparations in a brewing machine, the capsule including a capsule container that is filled with an extraction product and has an essentially quadratic base, and a capsule cover that closes the capsule container. The capsule has at least one first optically readable code on the base of the capsule container, the code having a two-dimensional arrangement of several first code elements, which respectively contain information from which one of several possible orientations of the code on the plane of the base can be derived in a unique manner. The invention also relates to a capsule and to an associated system including a brewing machine and to a method for identifying the type of capsule.

The present disclosure relates to a processing unit (14) for a dispenser (10) for preparation of foodstuff products, comprising a receiving cavity (17) for receiving a consumable (30), the receiving cavity (17) comprising at least a first receiving portion (18) and at least a first fastening portion (20), a sealing unit (22) arranged to contact, at an inlet side (28), a first end (78) of the consumable (30), a primary inlet engagement unit (46) that is coupled to an inlet conduit (44), wherein the primary inlet engagement unit (46) is operable to engage the inlet portion (140) of the consumable (30) to process a foodstuff product in the consumable (30), an outlet engagement arrangement (48) comprising a primary outlet engagement unit (50) that engages a primary outlet portion (142) of the consumable (30) and an auxiliary outlet engagement unit (52) that engages an auxiliary outlet portion (144) of the consumable (30) at the outlet side (29), and a control unit (58) that is coupled to the auxiliary outlet engagement unit (52), wherein the control unit (58) is operable to control the auxiliary outlet engagement unit (52) such that the primary outlet engagement unit (50) and the auxiliary outlet engagement unit (52) engage the consumable (30) in a time-displaced manner, The disclosure further relates to a foodstuff preparation system and to a use of a consumable (30) in a dispensing appliance (10).

A machine (1) for preparing a beverage comprises: a mixing unit (10) for receiving a capsule (5) containing a pre-portioned flavoring ingredient; a liquid circuit (20) for circulating a liquid from a liquid reservoir (25) into the mixing unit for mixing said flavoring ingredient and said liquid to form the beverage (6); a beverage outlet (30) for dispensing such beverage upon formation to a beverage dispensing area (35) for supporting a user-cup or a user-mug (100); and a carrying handle (50) for seizing and carrying such machine single-handed. The carrying handle (50), in particular when seized single-handed during such carrying: extends over and above said beverage dispensing area (35); and/or has a seizure surface (51) forming a loop (52) in cross-section around the mixing unit (10) and/or the beverage outlet (30), the seizure surface being seizable by a single human hand (2) over a predominant part of the cross-sectional loop (52).

The invention concerns a process for the preparation of a beverage in a beverage machine with a capsule comprising an enclosure containing tea leaves comprising the steps of: a) introducing water in the capsule to submerge the tea leaves in the capsule enclosure, then b) letting the tea leaves soak, then c) introducing water in the capsule until the required volume of beverage is delivered, wherein water is continuously introduced in the capsule from the beginning of step a) until the end of step b).
DISPENSING ASSEMBLY FOR MACHINES FOR THE PREPARATION OF LIQUID FOOD PRODUCTS
A dispensing assembly (2) for a machine for the preparation of liquid food products comprises a preparation chamber (7, 8) and a hydraulic circuit (20), which is configured for supplying water and/or steam to the preparation chamber (7, 8). The preparation chamber (7, 8) is configured for receiving at least one dose (9) of a precursor of a liquid food product and for dispensing the liquid food product following upon passage of water and/or steam through the preparation chamber (7, 8). The preparation chamber comprises a first chamber part (7), preferably configured for introducing water and/or steam, and a second chamber part (8), preferably configured for dispensing the liquid food product. At least one chamber part (8) is displaceable with respect to the other charnel ber part (7) between a spaced-apart position, to enable loading of the aforesaid dose (9) into the preparation chamber, and a close position, to enable introduction of water and/or steam into the preparation chamber and dispensing the liquid food product therefrom. The dispensing assembly (2) further comprises a pneumatic circuit (30) configured for supplying compressed air to the preparation chamber, in particular when the first chamber part (7) and the second chamber part (8) are in the close position.
