The method comprises the steps of counting portions of the tissue dispensed by the tissue dispenser, determining an initial filling level depending on the counter data and an initial tissue type information, and determining a verified filling level depending on the counter data when a roll exchange of a tissue roll from a first tissue roll position to a second tissue roll position in the tissue dispenser has occurred.

The drive system can include a plurality of driven rollers each configured to engage and move sheet material from a respective supply of sheet material, and a drive mechanism driving the plurality of driven rollers and connected thereto by a belt driven transmission. When the drive mechanism is driven in one direction, one of the plurality of driven rollers is rotated to dispense sheet material from one of the plurality of supplies of sheet material, and when the drive mechanism is driven in the opposite direction, another one of the plurality of driven rollers is rotated to dispense sheet material from another supply of sheet material.

An example sheet product dispenser includes a housing, a first roll holder, and a second roll holder. A sensor is configured to sense measurement data associated with the primary roll, including sensing when the primary roll rotates to dispense and measuring the diameter of the primary roll. A data communication device is in communication with the sensor and configured to transmit the measurement data. A controller is configured to determine situational information regarding the sheet product dispenser and provide corresponding alerts to users regarding the situational information and measured data.

An example sheet product dispenser includes a dispensing mechanism with a drive roller and nip roller. A controller is configured to determine a sheet length for dispensing and cause the motor to operate to cause sheet product to be dispensed from the sheet product dispenser. The controller is further configured to monitor an amount of rotation of the motor as the motor operates and cause, in an instance in which the amount of rotation of the motor corresponds to the determined sheet length, the motor to cease operation so as to cause the determined sheet length of sheet product to be dispensed from the sheet product dispenser.

The spindle assembly includes a bushing-engaging member having: a first dispenser mounting portion mountable to a first side of the dispenser, and a bushing-engaging portion sized and configured to fit at least partially in the bushing; and a spindle connection member having: a second dispenser mounting portion mountable to a second side of the dispenser, and a connecting portion removably mountable to the bushing-engaging member; thereby allowing use of the roll with the bushing in the dispenser. Various consumable material dispensing apparatus including automatic roll transfer features are disclosed. In certain embodiments, the apparatus includes a housing, a roll support assembly, a motor, a roll sensor mechanism, and a controller. The housing can include a cabinet, an interior, and an opening. The roll support assembly can support a plurality of rolls. The motor can rotate the roll support assembly from a first position where a first roll is proximate the opening to a second position where a second roll is proximate the opening. The roll sensor mechanism can detect whether a diameter of the first roll is less than a threshold value when the roll support assembly is in the first position. In response, the controller can instruct the motor to rotate the roll support assembly from the first position to the second position.
