An apparatus is provided for the attachment of brushes to the drive system of rotary floor scrubbing machines. In one embodiment, the apparatus provides for a scrubbing plate assembly suitable for attachment to the drive system of a rotary floor scrubbing machine. The scrubbing plate assembly has a scrubbing plate and an adapter plate. When the adapter plate is aligned and in contact with a scrubbing plate, the adapter plate locks to the scrubbing plate by axial movement of said adapter plate relative to said scrubbing plate.

An apparatus is provided for the attachment of brushes to the drive system of rotary floor scrubbing machines. The scrubbing plate assembly has a scrubbing plate and an adapter plate. A long rod cleaning machine having an electric motor, a tip tool including a cleaning portion, a head to which the tip tool is attachable, a rod, and a rotator between the head and the rod. The tip tool is attached in a manner movable with a driving force from the electric motor. The head includes a peripheral portion surrounding the cleaning portion and including a surface-cleaning lateral portion to be in contact with a cleaning target surface together with the cleaning portion. The rotator includes a rotation restrictor connecting the head to the rod in a manner rotatable relative to the rod about at least two axes. The rotation restrictor partially or fully restricts rotation of the head.

A portable power and water supply for hard surface or carpet cleaners is disclosed. The portable power and water supply can include a portable platform with a fresh/waste water tank and two or more power connectors that can be coupled to separate power sources. The fresh/waste water tank can have an internal bladder that separates fresh cleaning water from returned waste water. The fresh/waste water tank can facilitate operation of cleaning tools (e.g., hard surface cleaners and/or carpet cleaners) in buildings with limited or widely spaced water supplies, without the need for long hoses. The power connectors can be coupled to wall power to direct power to the cleaning tools.

A floor cleaning machine can comprise a chassis, a cleaning mechanism, a control system, and a cleaning operation sensing system connected to the chassis. The chassis can be configured for movement along a cleaning path. The cleaning mechanism can perform a cleaning operation. The liquid system can provide liquid to the cleaning mechanism. The recovery system can recover liquid from the cleaning operation. The control system can control performance of the cleaning operation. The cleaning operation sensing system can detect a condition of the cleaning operation. The cleaning operation sensing system can comprise a water trailing detection system comprising: a frame connected to the chassis aft of the recovery system, an absorbent medium connected to the frame; and a moisture sensor in communication with the control system to alter a signal in response to moisture in the absorbent medium.

A surface maintenance machine comprising two front wheels, at least one rear wheel, a motive source for providing motive force to at least one front wheel to drive the machine on a surface. Embodiments also include an operator platform allowing an operator to stand thereon extending at least partly around the rear wheel, for supporting an operator in a standing position with the operator's feet on either side of the rear wheel.

A pivot suspension has two separate wheels and a channel, which has two ends axially extending across a floor cleaning or burnishing machine. One wheel is attached to a first end of the channel and the other wheel is attached to a second end of the channel. The pivot suspension further has a pivot rod that is pivotably attached to and is in line from front to rear with the machine. The pivot rod is fixedly connected to the channel at a location between the two channel ends. As a result, the wheels and channel are pivotably attached to the machine, by way of the pivot rod. In combination with at least one wheel or caster that is attached to a frame of the machine, the two channel wheels form three points of contact with a floor, even if there is dirt, debris, and unevenness on or in the floor.
