Device for applying free-flowing hair dye to regions of hair includes a housing having a handle with a housing interior for receiving the free-flowing hair dye. The housing has a cover with a row of hair receptacles arranged next to one another in a longitudinal direction of the housing and extend in a channel-like manner in a transverse direction of the housing, which each open towards the housing exterior for the insertion of regions of hair. In a first set of hair receptacles, the hair receptacles are connected to the housing interior via dispensing openings for hair dye, and hair-dye-free hair receptacles of a second set are arranged between the hair receptacles of the first set. A supply element is arranged in the housing interior for supplying hair dye from the housing interior to the dispensing openings of the hair receptacles of the first set.

The invention relates to a cosmetic product refill (20) for a hair treatment device (1), comprising an applicator member (26) saturated with an aqueous composition, wherein the applicator member has a density of between 0.11 and 0.25 g/cm.sup.3 and the aqueous composition has a viscosity of between 4, preferably 5, and 100 centipoise, at 22 C. A device includes a pump and a brushhead. The pump includes a housing and plunger. The housing has an upper opening, a cavity configured to store a composition therein, and a tip having a dispensing opening. The plunger is slidably disposed within housing such that it is moveable with respect to the housing. The device comprises a housing that detachably joins with a container of composition. A platform having a plurality of apertures rests coplanar with the housing. A plurality of conduits, or hollow bristles, extend from the platform. The conduits include channels that are in communication with the housing and the container of composition. The conduits are arranged as inner and outer conduits, with the outer conduits being slightly longer to create a generally concave effect. The conduits terminate at an angled tip portion that engages the body surface, while simultaneously dispensing the composition from terminal openings or lateral openings formed at the tip.

A method of treating hair more precisely including providing a hair treatment composition in a foam dispenser, dispensing the hair treatment composition directly onto the hair as a foam, leaving the foam on the hair, and rinsing the foam from the hair. The foam dispenser includes a reservoir for holding the hair treatment composition, an extended nozzle connected to the reservoir, and one or more nozzle orifices. The one or more nozzle orifices has a total orifice area of from about 5 mm.sup.2 to about 80 mm.sup.2. The extended nozzle has a protrusion length of from about 20 mm to about 125 mm. The foam has a specific volume of from about 4 ml/g to about 20 ml/g.
