Wound closure system
A wound closure system and a method of reducing the size of an open wound are disclosed. A suture line is sutured through body tissue adjacent an open wound, the suture line sutured so as to pass into the body tissue at an entry point and exit at an exit point, the suture line including a plurality of barbs extending outwardly at an acute angle with respect to a surface of the suture line. A biasing member applies a continuous pulling force on the suture line for stretching the body tissue toward the open wound, wherein the biasing member is configured to take up any slack of the suture line during stretching of the body tissue and keep the suture line taut.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CLOSING A SURGICAL SITE
A suturing device includes a clamshell body having a first side coupled to a second side by a hinge. The first side and the second side each have an end opposite the hinge. A spool is coupled to the clamshell body and rotatable relative to the clamshell body. A suture is wound around the spool. The ends of the first side and the second side may lock together to capture an end of the suture.
ELECTRIC SUTURING DEVICES FOR ENDOSCOPY AND LAPAROSCOPY
An electromagnetic suturing device comprises a body, a coil in the body and a suturing element actuatable by a magnetic suturing track extending into the first end face, a second arm having a second end face opposing the first end face, a second suturing track extending into the second end face, a coil in the first arm, and a suturing element drivable by a magnetic field generated by the coil to move from the first suturing track to the second suturing track. An electro-magnetic hammer suturing device comprises a housing and a coil in the housing, a shuttle to reciprocate in the housing by an electromagnetic field generated by the coil and a suturing element to be actuated by the shuttle.
Endoscopic Needle Assembly
An anchor and suture assembly is provided for use with an endoscopic suturing device with a needle holder arm. The anchor assembly includes an anchor tip and an anchor body. The anchor tip has a blunt end that may be rounded or beaded, a capture groove, a tab groove and a plug portion positioned between the capture groove and the tab groove. The anchor body has first and second ends, tip tabs, retainers for removably retaining the anchor body relative to the needle holder arm, and a suture opening. The anchor tip is fixed relative to the anchor body by plastic deformation of the tip tabs into the tab groove. A suture extends into the suture opening of the anchor body and is fixed therein.
VECTOR COMPRESSION SYSTEM
The present disclosure describes surgical anchors and related devices and methods that can be used for surgical bone fracture fixation. Some implementations use a polymeric cored braided suture held in place by anchors on each side of a fracture. In some implementations, the anchors are secured into bone while maintaining high tension (e.g., relative to certain prior art methods) in the suture during the deployment process. Some implementations provide for tensioning (e.g., using a polymeric cored braided suture) to compress the fracture and hold the bone in place, functioning as though the suture has sewn the bone (e.g., fragments or portions) together. This can, for example, provide rigid fixation of a fracture which may be important for healing to occur. The tension preload can provide compression to maintain fixation in the face of tensile and shear loads applied to the bone (e.g., as a result of movement and weight bearing).
SUTURE CARTRIDGE AND SUTURE PACKAGE FOR SUTURING INSTRUMENT
A suture package includes a suture tray and a suture thread. The suture track has a first housing, a second housing receive against the first housing, a storage space defined between the first and second housings, and a thread shelf positioned within the storage space. The suture thread is at least partially contained within the storage space and has a first portion extending toward the thread shelf and a second portion extending toward the thread shelf such that the first and second portions of the suture thread intersect at the thread shelf. The suture thread also has a third portion between the first and second portions received against the thread shelf such that the thread shelf holds the suture thread to define a preformed thread bend for manipulating the first portion of the suture thread relative to the second portion of the suture thread via the preformed thread bend.
SURGICAL SUTURE PACKAGE
The surgical suture package includes: a main body including a base plate, an outer wall portion, and an inner wall portion providing a portion accommodating a suture; a fixing clip serving to fasten a suture needle coupled to an end of the suture; multiple protruding bumps; and multiple cover members provided on an upper portion of the inner wall portion, and configured to cover above the suture in a manner being bent outward and being hooked on lower surfaces of the protruding bumps to keep being bent such that the suture accommodated in the accommodating portion is prevented from being released, wherein a label is provided on an upper part of the main body to provide product information including a product name and is fastened by inserting an edge thereof between the protruding bumps and the cover members.
Vector compression system
This disclosure includes surgical anchors and related devices and methods that can be used for surgical bone fracture fixation. Some embodiments involve the use of a polymeric cored braided suture that can be held in place by anchors implanted or inserted into bone on each side of a fracture. In some embodiments, the present anchors can be secured into the bone while maintaining high tension (e.g., relative to certain prior art methods) in the suture during the deployment process. Some embodiments can provide for tensioning (e.g., using a polymeric cored braided suture) to compress the fracture and hold the bone in place, functioning as though the suture has sewn the bone (e.g., fragments or portions) together. This can, for example, provide rigid fixation of a fracture which may be important for healing to occur. The tension preload can provide compression to maintain fixation in the face of tensile and shear loads applied to the bone (e.g., as a result of movement and weight bearing).
POSITIONER, CONVEYOR, TUNNEL-TYPE WIRE PASSING SYSTEM, AND OPERATING METHOD THEREFOR
A positioner, a conveyor, a tunnel-type wire passing system and an operating method thereof. The positioner includes first and second locating rods, a guide wire and a drive unit. The first locating rod defines a first channel extending therethrough along its axial direction. The second locating rod is connected to the first locating rod. The second locating rod defines a second channel extending therethrough along its axial direction. A distal end of the second channel extending in a direction intersecting a direction in which a distal end of the first channel extends. The guide wire is movably inserted in the second channel along the axial direction of the second locating rod. The guide wire is provided at a distal end thereof with a connecting unit. The drive unit is connected to the guide wire and drives the guide wire to move in the axial direction of the second locating rod.
Suturing instrument with jaw having integral needle cover
A surgical instrument includes a body, a shaft, and a cartridge receiving assembly. The body has an actuator. The cartridge receiving assembly includes a first jaw and a second jaw. The first jaw is movable relative to the second jaw between an open position and a closed position. The first and second jaws are configured to receive a suture cartridge therebetween when the first jaw is in the open position. The first and second jaws are configured to secure a suture cartridge therebetween and thereby operatively couple the actuator with the suture cartridge when the first jaw is in the closed position. The first jaw is further configured to receive a needle of the suture cartridge directly thereagainst when the first jaw is in the closed position such that the first jaw is configured to capture the needle within the suture cartridge.
