The present invention relates to a convenient, minimally invasive surgical instrument, and more particularly to a minimally invasive surgical instrument to allow a user to operate an end effector by manipulating a handling unit or the like to perform a minimally invasive surgery in a delicate and convenient manner. According to one aspect of the invention, there is provided a minimally invasive surgical instrument comprising: a shaft; an end effector being connected to one end of the shaft via a joint unit; a rotation manipulation unit being connected to the other end of the shaft, the rotation manipulation unit comprising a gyro link including a gyro wheel; and a plurality of wires being connected between the joint unit and the gyro wheel, wherein the end effector carries out joint motion by the joint unit according to the action of at least some of the plurality of wires caused by a manipulation of the gyro wheel.

Laparoscopic suturing instrument with perpendicular eccentric needle motion

A suture needle driving instrument comprises a shaft and an end effector. The end effector is located at the distal end of the shaft and includes a pair of needle grasping arms. Each grasping arm extends along a respective arm axis. The grasping arms are operable to drive a suture needle along a rotational path about an axis, such as one of the arm axes, that is offset from the central longitudinal axis of the shaft. The rotational path may be perpendicular to the axis of the shaft. A needle driven by the end effector may have an arc radius that is greater than the radius of the shaft. At least one of the needle grasping arms may include a dogleg feature positioning a distal portion of the grasping arm outside the radius of the shaft. The instrument may be used through a trocar during minimally invasive surgery.

STAPLE CARTRIDGE ASSEMBLY COMPRISING VARIOUS TISSUE COMPRESSION GAPS AND STAPLE FORMING GAPS

An end effector including an anvil and a staple cartridge assembly is disclosed. The staple cartridge assembly comprises a deck having steps defined thereon for compressing tissue positioned between the anvil and the staple cartridge assembly to different pressures. The staple cartridge assembly further comprises staples having different unformed heights removably stored therein. The staples are deformed against the anvil to different formed heights.

TREATMENT TOOL

A treatment tool includes: an insertion tube; a pair of jaws that are provided at a distal end of the insertion tube and that are flexible with respect to the insertion tube, the pair of jaws being configured to grasp living tissue by opening and closing each other; a pin that is provided on a rotation axis on which the jaws are caused to rotate with respect to the insertion tube; a shaft that has an outer circumferential surface and in which a hole into which the pin is inserted; a rod configured to be inserted into the insertion tube and move forward and backward along a longitudinal axis of the insertion tube; and a link mechanism that is linked to a distal end of the rod and that includes a plurality of arms linked with each other movably within a specific plane.

Robotic Arm With Hybrid Actuation Assemblies And Related Devices, Systems, And Methods

Robotic arms, and devices with such arms, having any combination of gear-driven actuator assemblies and cable-driven actuator assemblies, with some arm or device embodiments having solely gear-driven assemblies, some having solely cable-driven assemblies, and others having a combination of at least one of each. Further embodiments relate to arms or devices having one or more actuation assemblies with an actuator is disposed remotely (in a different component of the device—or even external to the device) in relation to the actuable component to which it is coupled.

Sterile field interactive control displays

An interactive control unit is disclosed. The interactive control unit includes an interactive touchscreen display, an interface configured to couple the control unit to a surgical hub, a processor, and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive input commands from the interactive touchscreen display located inside a sterile field and transmit the input commands to the surgical hub to control devices coupled to the surgical hub located outside the sterile field.

Surgical instrument including an electronic firing lockout

A surgical instrument comprising a housing, a shaft, a loading unit, a firing member configured to perform a firing stroke, a motor, a battery, a firing trigger, a control system, an electronic lockout, and a firing trigger lockout is disclosed. The electronic lockout is configured to prevent the firing member from performing the firing stroke when the loadinq unit is not attached to the shaft. The electronic lockout is further configured to prevent the firing member from performing the firing stroke when the loading unit is attached to the shaft and the loading unit has been at least partially fired.
