ENDOSCOPIC TREATMENT APPARATUS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING ENDOSCOPIC TREATMENT TOOL
An endoscope treatment instrument having a sheath, a rotation axis extending in a width direction orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the sheath, a plate formed with a first opening through which the rotation axis passes and a second opening having a width different from the width of the first opening, a forceps piece rotatably supported about the first opening and the rotation axis passing through the second opening, and a wire connected to a proximal end portion of the plate.
Surgical forceps
A forceps includes an end effector assembly having first and second jaw members movable between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue therebetween. A knife assembly having a cutting blade disposed at a distal end thereof is also provided. The knife assembly is translatable relative to the end effector assembly between a retracted position and an extended position, wherein the cutting blade extends between the jaw members to cut tissue grasped therebetween. The knife assembly includes a proximal component and a first distal component that includes the cutting blade. The proximal and first distal components are removably coupled to one another to facilitate replacement of the first distal component. Methods of preparing such forceps for reuse are also provided.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT COMPRISING SELECTIVELY ACTUATABLE ROTATABLE COUPLERS
A surgical instrument is disclosed comprising an end effector including a first jaw and a second jaw, wherein the first jaw is rotatable relative to the second jaw, and a closure system configured to close the first jaw during a closure stroke. The surgical instrument further comprises an articulation joint rotatably connecting the end effector to the shaft, an articulation system configured to articulate the end effector relative to the shaft, and a firing system operably engaged with the electric motor, wherein the firing member is configured to move through the end effector during a firing stroke. The surgical instrument further comprises a first rotatable member configured to selectively synchronize the motion of the firing system with the motion of the articulation system and a second rotatable member operably engageable with the articulation system, wherein the closure system is configured to stop the rotation of the second rotatable member.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SYSTEM COMPRISING AN END EFFECTOR LOCKOUT AND A FIRING ASSEMBLY LOCKOUT
Surgical stapling instruments are disclosed comprising a staple cartridge, a firing member, and a cartridge lockout configured to prevent the firing member from being advanced through the staple cartridge if the staple cartridge has been already spent. The stapling instruments further comprise a lockout in the shaft that responds to the cartridge lockout blocking the firing member.
Surgical Instrument
A surgical instrument includes: a handle and a working head connected with the handle, in which the handle or the working head provides a power; a firing sleeve assembly detachably connected with the working head, in which a clip-jaw is provided on a side of the firing sleeve assembly far away from the working head; and a clip-cartridge assembly inserted into the firing sleeve assembly and detachably connected with the working head. The working head includes: a firing drive assembly for driving the firing sleeve assembly to achieve closing or opening of the clip-jaw, a clip delivery drive assembly for driving the clip-cartridge assembly to deliver a ligating clip, and a switching assembly for transmitting the power to the firing drive assembly or the clip delivery drive assembly.
End effectors, surgical stapling devices, and methods of using same
An end effector for use by a surgeon to staple an anatomical structure of a patient during a surgical procedure includes an anvil and a cartridge. Each of the anvil and the cartridge has a face that is positionable on the anatomical structure. The anvil is coupled to the cartridge at first and second ends. The anvil is movable relative to the cartridge to define a first gap between the faces at the first ends that is different from a second gap between the faces at the second ends.
SURGICAL STAPLING SYSTEMS
A method is disclosed. The method can comprise obtaining a first staple cartridge and obtaining a second staple cartridge, wherein the first staple cartridge and the second staple cartridge comprise the same length and the same width. The method can further comprise inserting the first staple cartridge into a channel comprising a keyed profile, wherein complete insertion of the first staple cartridge into the channel is prevented by the keyed profile. Additionally, the method can comprise inserting the second staple cartridge into the channel, wherein complete insertion of the second staple cartridge into the channel is permitted by the keyed profile.
Ultrasonic surgical instrument with dual modes
A surgical apparatus comprises a body, a shaft assembly, and an end effector. The end effector comprises a clamp arm and an ultrasonic blade in acoustic communication with an ultrasonic transducer via an acoustic waveguide that extends through the shaft assembly. The clamp arm is configured to pivot about a first pivot point toward and away from the ultrasonic blade along a first angular path from a first position to a second position to thereby provide a tissue sealing mode of operation. The clamp arm is further configured to pivot about a second pivot point toward and away from the ultrasonic blade along second angular path from the second position to a third position to thereby provide a tissue cutting and sealing mode of operation. The second pivot point is proximal to the first pivot point.
Methods for controlling a powered surgical stapler that has separate rotary closure and firing systems
A method for controlling a powered surgical stapler that includes an end effector with jaws that are movable between an open and a closed position and a firing member that is movable between a starting position and an ending position within the end effector. The jaws and firing member are controlled by separate rotary systems and the end effector includes a firing member lockout system that prevents axial movement of the firing member unless the surgical staple cartridge is in ready to fire condition.
Tissue forceps
A forceps instrument comprises, for the support of at least one pivotally supported branch, a bearing insert which is inserted into a base in order to support at least one pivotable branch. The bearing insert may be inserted transversely with respect to the pivot axis into a corresponding compartment of the base and fixed there in the compartment, due to detent action. The bearing insert comprises two bearing elements, including cylindrical journals, which are arranged on bearing parts of the bearing insert, without being in contact with each other, the bearing parts having the form of plates, that are oriented parallel to each other. The two journals come into engagement with corresponding openings of the branch, in which case the distance remaining between the end sides of the journals can be used for the arrangement of miscellaneous elements, including a cutting knife.
