11653943 · 2023-05-23 · ·

A deployment mechanism for selectively deploying and retracting an energizable member and/an insulative member relative to an end effector assembly of a surgical instrument includes one or more actuators, a clutch assembly, and a drive assembly. The clutch assembly is configured to couple to the actuator(s) to provide rotational motion in the first direction in response to such rotation of the actuator(s) and to decouple from the actuator(s) in response to rotation thereof in the second direction. The drive assembly is operably coupled to the clutch assembly and is configured to convert the rotational motion provided by the clutch assembly into longitudinal motion to translate the energizable member and/or insulative member from a storage position to a deployed position and to translate the energizable member and/or the insulative member from the deployed position back to the storage position.

ROBOTIC SURGICAL SYSTEM, SURGICAL ROBOT, AND ROBOTIC SURGICAL METHOD

A robotic surgical system according to an embodiment may include: a surgical instrument including a pair of jaw members; an operation handle; and a surgical robot that includes a robot arm to which the surgical instrument is attached and which includes a drive part to drive a driven member, and a controller configured to drive the drive part based on a command jaw opening angle associated with an input to the input device for controlling an opening angle between the pair of jaw members. The controller is configured, when it is determined that a current value of the drive part excesses a predetermined threshold value during a closing operation of the pair of jaw members, to drive the drive part in a restriction mode in which a magnitude of the command jaw opening angle is restricted.

Surgical instrument system including replaceable end effectors

A surgical stapling instrument comprising a housing, a shaft, an end effector, a first articulation joint configured to permit the end effector to be articulated in a first plane, a second articulation joint configured to permit the end effector to be articulated in a second plane, and a staple firing drive is disclosed. The end effector comprises a distal end, a proximal end, a first jaw, a second jaw rotatable relative to the first iaw, and a staple cartridge. The staple firing drive comprises a firing member and a flexible drive tube extending through the first articulation joint and the second articulation joint. The firing member comprises a first cam, a second cam, and a round attachment aperture. The flexible drive tube comprises a longitudinal length, an outer circumference, a distal end seated in the round attachment aperture, and interlocking cuts in the outer circumference extending longitudinally and circumferentially.

SURGICAL DEVICE

A surgical device includes a forceps device, driven portions to which a driving force is transmitted from outside the surgical device, plural wires, each being fixed to one of the driven portions and transmitting respective movements of the driven portions to the forceps device. The forceps device includes grasping portions that may be opened and closed by a movement of a first wire of the plural wires, and a joint portion that may be bent by a movement of one or more second wires of the plural wires.

TIP PROTECTOR FOR A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT, ASSEMBLY AND METHOD

A tip protector, for a surgical instrument having a shaft and an instrument tip near a distal portion of the shaft, includes a tip housing for releasably receiving the instrument tip; a clamp system suitable for gripping a portion of the surgical instrument to position the tip protector; and a distal through opening at or near the distal end of the tip housing. The distal through opening has an opening size that is adjustable.

END EFFECTORS, SURGICAL STAPLING DEVICES, AND METHODS OF USING SAME

An end effector for use to staple an anatomical structure of a patient during a surgical procedure includes an anvil and a cartridge. The anvil has an anvil face and a first staple pocket defined by the anvil face, where the first staple pocket comprises a first cup and a second cup for staple formation. The cartridge has a first staple and a first driver. The first staple, once deployed by the first driver and deformed by the first staple pocket, has a formed configuration in which a first portion of a first staple leg and a second portion of a second staple leg are bent relative to a crown and cross the midpoint of the crown and one of the first portion and the second portion overlaps the other of the first portion and the second portion.

JAW FOR A SURGICAL TUBULAR SHAFT INSTRUMENT
20170367688 · 2017-12-28 ·

A jaw assembly for a surgical tubular shaft instrument includes a supporting component, a first arm and a second arm, the first arm and/or the second arm each having one link element. The arms are held by the supporting component in the axial direction. A cam carrier element is axially movable relative to the supporting component and carries at least two cams. Each link element is designed to be in contact with at least two cams when there is a relative axial movement between the supporting component and the cam carrier element, the cams being provided on the cam carrier element. Each link element is further designed to slide off of the cams to effect an opening or closing of the jaw assembly.

Tool assembly for a surgical stapling device

A surgical device comprising a first jaw member, a second jaw member, a clamping member and a clamp apparatus is disclosed. The clamping member is slidably positioned to translate at least partially through the first jaw member. The clamping member engages the first jaw member and the second jaw member, and has a knife blade for cutting tissue. A flange of the clamping member is configured to engage a cam surface to pivot the second jaw member with respect to the first jaw member from an open position toward an approximated position. The clamp apparatus is movable from a retracted position to an advanced position for preventing a gap between proximal portions of the first jaw member and the second jaw member from exceeding a predetermined distance. The clamping member and the clamp apparatus are separately movable.

Surgical tools and surgical tool systems

Plate holding forceps for one-hand use are presented. The forceps are configured to press a bone plate to bone and comprise a clamp portion, including a first jaw and second jaw movable towards and away from each other.
