AN ULTRASONIC CUTTING DEVICE FOR OSTEOTOMY
An ultrasonic cutting device for osteotomy is provided. The device has a blade extending in a longitudinal direction, an attachment member connected through an extension member with a handpiece configured to generate vibrations. The attachment member is connected to a proximal end of the blade which has a plurality of cutting elements formed on a distal portion thereof. The cutting elements have an arcuate portion arranged at a free end of the distal portion in the longitudinal direction and the arcuate portion has a continuous cutting edge with a plurality of triangular shaped teeth on opposite sides of the blade. The overall configuration of the distal portion of the blade is symmetrical relative to the longitudinal axis and progressively widens from the arcuate portion towards the proximal portion of the blade in the portion where the teeth are formed.
ULTRASONIC VIBRATION TRANSMITTABLE PROBE AND ULTRASONIC TREATMENT ASSEMBLY
An ultrasonic vibration transmittable probe includes a probe body configured to transmit ultrasonic vibration generated by an ultrasonic transducer. A treatment section is provided on a distal end side of the probe body along its longitudinal axis and is configured to cut a treatment object with the ultrasonic vibration. The treatment section includes first to third cutting surfaces disposed at progressively proximal positions. A portion of the first cutting surface has a dimension along a first orthogonal direction orthogonal to the longitudinal axis that is smaller than a dimension of the second cutting surface along the first orthogonal direction.
A treatment section is provided on a distal end side of the probe body along its longitudinal axis. The treatment section includes multiple cutting surfaces having different dimensions in a first orthogonal direction orthogonal to the longitudinal axis.
Ultrasonic Cutting Tip for Lumbar Procedures
An ultrasonic tip and methods of operating the same. The ultrasonic tip comprises a shaft including a base and a flexible body. The body comprises a first portion and a second portion. The body is coupled to the base at the first portion and extends from the first portion to the second portion along a longitudinal axis. The second portion includes a cutting portion comprising a neck, and a head extending radially from the longitudinal axis. The head is coupled to the neck. A circular aperture is disposed between the head and the neck to define an inner circumferential surface. The head and the neck form an outer circumferential surface comprising a plurality of cutting teeth, the outer circumferential surface having a first thickness at the head that is greater than a second thickness at the neck.
Load-sharing insert for cutting blade
A cutting blade with multiple body inserts, each comprising a load-sharing member and a flexible perimeter joint. These inserts reduce the magnitude of frictional forces acting on the blade's body. The load-sharing member, in particular, acts as a point contact between the material being cut, such as bone, and the cutting blade. As such, the frictional forces exerted act only on the load-sharing member as opposed to the entire body. By limiting the real contact area, the magnitude of friction generated during operation is reduced. Additionally, the load-sharing members create a thermally insulating space between the body and the material being cut. The functionality of these body inserts, however, relies on the flexible perimeter joint. The flexible perimeter joint isolates the effects of frictional forces to the load-sharing member by preventing direct contact between the load-sharing member and the surrounding body.
ULTRASONIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
An ultrasonic surgical instrument comprises a cylindrical shaft and a blade at a distal or free end of the shaft, the blade being unitary and continuous with the shaft, without an intervening joint. The shaft has a longitudinal axis and the blade includes a flat or planar blade body with a proximal end eccentrically disposed relative to the shaft axis. Thus, the blade body or at least a proximal end portion thereof is disposed eccentrically relative to the shaft. The blade in its entirely may be inclined relative to the shaft axis or extend parallel thereto.
ULTRASONIC SURGICAL BLADE
An ultrasonic instrument comprises an ultrasonic transducer, an acoustic waveguide, and an ultrasonic blade. The blade includes a pair of obliquely extending edges. The obliquely extending edges diverge away from the longitudinal axis of the waveguide and away from each other along respective paths extending distally in relation to the waveguide. A distal portion of the blade is wider than a proximal portion of the blade along a plane. The blade further includes a curved distal edge and several laterally presented surfaces. The laterally presented surfaces may provide combinations of concave and convex curvatures. The laterally presented surfaces may be angled and/or curved along one or more orthogonal planes associated with the longitudinal axis of the waveguide.

Ultrasonic bone scalpel bit and robot-assisted ultrasonic bone power system using same
An ultrasonic bone scalpel bit includes a scalpel bit end portion located at a distal end of the scalpel bit, the scalpel bit end portion being formed to have a flat shape and provided with a cutting portion. The cutting portion includes a distal end portion, a first side portion and a second side portion, the first side portion and the second side portion being symmetrically arranged relative to a longitudinal axis of the scalpel bit end portion in a width direction of the scalpel bit end portion. The cutting portion further includes a plurality of protrusions formed near the distal end portion, the plurality of protrusions projecting outward from the first side portion and the second side portion symmetrically relative to the longitudinal axis in the width direction of the scalpel bit end portion.
