COMPRESSOR-DISTRACTOR FOR ANGULARLY REALIGNING BONE PORTIONS

A compressor-distractor device may be used during a surgical procedure, such as a surgical procedure to correct a bunion deformity. In some examples, the compressor-distractor includes first and second engagement arms having first and second pin-receiving holes, respectively. The first and second pin-receiving holes may be angled relative to each other. The compressor-distractor may also include an actuator operatively coupled to the first and second engagement arms. In some example uses, a clinician may pin a first surgical device to a patient's bones use a pair of parallel pins. After removing the surgical device over the parallel pins, the clinician may thread the parallel pins through the angled first and second pin-receiving holes of the compressor-distractor, causing the bones to move relative to each other. Thereafter, the clinician may actuate the actuator on the compressor-distractor to move the bones towards and/or away from each other.

A fibular nail for repairing distal fibular fractures is provided that does not require a transfibular-transtibial interlocking screw for stabilization. The nail provides transverse apertures permitting fixation of the proximal and distal portions of a fractured fibula to the nail. The nail has apertures for securing the fibula to the nail on the proximal side of a fracture and on the distal side of a fracture. Optionally, the nail may be connected to the tibia for stabilization.

The shaft includes a first set of threads extending a first predetermined length from the distal tip. The first set of threads are configured to capture cortical bone in one of a foot and/or ankle bone of a patient. The shaft includes a second set of threads extending a second predetermined length from the first set of threads. The second set of threads configured to capture epiphyseal bone in the one of the foot and/or ankle bone. Related methods are also provided.

Osteosynthesis device

In one embodiment, the present invention includes an intramedullary osteosynthesis or arthrodesis implant including a central body, a first pair of legs extending from the central body to a pair of leg tips, and a second pair of legs extending from the central body, in a direction opposite the first pair of legs, to a pair of leg tips such that the central body, first pair of legs and second pair of legs are positioned alongside a longitudinal axis.

INTRAMEDULLARY IMPLANT AND METHOD OF USE

A bone implant includes a proximal end, a distal end, a first portion extending between the proximal and distal ends having a maximum and minimum portion height, and a second portion extending between the proximal and distal ends having a maximum and minimum portion height. The second portion is connected to the first portion at the proximal end and the distal end and at least one of the first portion and the second portion is moveable relative to the other of the first portion and the second portion so as to transition the bone implant between a relaxed state wherein the first and second portions are separated by a first distance and a contracted state wherein the first and second portions are separated by a second distance different from the first distance. At least one of the proximal end and the distal end have the minimum portion height.

In described embodiments, an implant assembly includes a first implant having a body with a first end and a second end and a hollow passage extending therethrough between the first end and the second end. The first implant is sized for insertion into a first bone segment. A connector has a first end rotatably connected to the first implant at the first end of the first implant, a second end insertable into a second bone segment, and a connector body extending through the hollow passage of the first connector. A method of inserting the implant assembly is also provided.

INTRAMEDULLARY IMPLANT WITH PROXIMAL PLATE AND METHOD FOR ITS USE

An orthopedic implant is specifically configured for use in osteotomies, in which part of the implant extends into an intramedullary portion of a first bone segment and a plate portion is external to the cortical surface of an adjacent bone segment to fix the segments to allow them to fuse. The body of the implant has a first end and a second end where the end which is inserted into the bone has a chamfer and a through hole having a hole axis optionally at an oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of the implant, and which can receive a screw, peg or pin. The second end of the implant includes a plate portion with at least two offset screws.
