LIGHT EMITTING BONE IMPLANTS
A bone implant includes a bore extending entirely through the bone implant. The bone implant also includes a light source to emit light onto bone adjacent the bone implant to stimulate bone growth and/or reduce bone loss.
Method and device for joint replacement
A method of joint replacement including forming one or more arthroscopy portals adjacent a hip joint that includes, a femur with a femoral head and a pelvis with an acetabulum socket, inserting a hemiarthroplasty cup, having a cup inner surface and a cup outer surface, between a femoral head outer surface of the femoral head and an acetabulum outer surface of the acetabulum socket, wherein at least one of the femoral head outer surface and the acetabulum other surface are unreamed.
Cannulated telescopic femoral neck screw device and related fixation method
A screw assembly and method developed for the fixation of femoral neck fractures without interruption of the growth process is disclosed. The screw assembly includes a male component that is attached to the lateral cortex and a female component that is attached at the proximal epiphysis. Anchorage of the components is achieved through screw-type fixation. The screw has a built-in feature that allows for free extension of its length as the fracture site or the slipped capital physeal plate heals and normal patient growth continues. Stable fixation and rotational stability are created at the fracture (slip) site while avoiding compression forces, thus avoiding premature closure of the physeal plate.
Femoral neck prosthesis
The invention relates to a shaft for a femoral neck prosthesis, which comprises an anchoring area (27, 29) which is arranged inside the femur in order to anchor the prosthesis into bone, a head area which is axially adjacent to the anchoring area (27, 29) on the proximal side, said head area comprising a device (13) which is connected to the prosthesis head (15), in addition to a distal end which is arranged opposite the head area in the axial direction of the anchoring area (27, 29). The invention is characterised in that the maximum cross-sectional dimension of the head area is at the most equal and, in particular, smaller than the maximum diameter of the anchoring area (27, 29), in such a manner that the maximum cross-sectional dimension of the shaft (11) is in the anchoring area (27, 29).
Modular proximal femoral osteotomy blade-plate assembly and related fixation method
A blade-plate assembly for performing an osteotomy procedure is disclosed. The blade-plate assembly may include a modular blade component configured to be coupled to either a Varus plate component or a Valgus plate component when performing the osteotomy procedure. In some embodiments, the modular blade component includes a support portion and a blade portion that extends outwardly in perpendicular relation to the support portion. The blade portion defines a channel configured to permit passage of a guide wire when performing the osteotomy procedure.
BONE FRACTURE FIXATION DEVICE WITH TRANSVERSE SET SCREW AND AIMING GUIDE
A bone fixation device for treatment of a bone fracture includes a fixation screw defining a transverse opening, a fixation arm configured for inserting the fixation screw through a bone fracture, a set screw, and an aiming arm configured for inserting the set screw into the transverse opening and engagement with the fixation screw. The set screw stabilizes the fixation screw.
DEVICES, METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR REMEDYING OR PREVENTING FRACTURES
Devices, methods and systems for remedying or preventing fractures of the bone are disclosed. The devices, and corresponding methods and systems, may include first and second members each having a proximal end, a distal end and a middle portion and an outer surface. The first member may be configured to be positioned at least partially within the femoral neck of the femur. The second member may be configured to be oriented at an oblique angle relative to the first member and mechanically engaged with the first member through an interlocking connection between the distal end of the second member and the middle portion or the distal end of the first member.
Proximal femur hook plate
A bone plate for treating periprosthetic fractures includes a head portion to be positioned along a greater trochanter of a bone. The head portion includes pairs of bone fixation element receiving openings extending therethrough from a first surface of the plate which, when the plate is in an operative position, faces away from the bone, and a second surface which, when the plate is in the operative position, faces toward the bone. A pair of cable holes extend through the head portion from a first longitudinal side connecting the first and second surfaces to a second longitudinal side connecting the first and second surfaces. The head portion includes a pair of hooks for engaging a superior ridge of the greater trochanter. The plate also includes a shaft portion extending distally from the head portion to extend along a portion of the bone distal of the greater trochanter.
HIP JOINT TETHER DEVICE
Hip tethering devices comprise a femoral implant including a housing that anchors the femoral implant to the femur, at least one spring, and a slider, such that the slider can move relative to the housing via compression and expansion of the at least one spring. A tether has a first end that anchors to the acetabulum, the tether passes through the femoral head, and a second end couples to the slider of the femoral implant, such that the tether spans across the patient's hip joint and relative motion between the slider and the housing allows a limited degree of separation of the femoral head from the acetabulum, while the at least one spring applies a variable tension load to the tether that resists separation of the femoral head from the acetabulum.
Method and device for joint replacement
A prosthesis including a hemiarthroplasty cup including an inner surface shaped and sized to accommodate a reamed or unreamed femoral head outer surface, and an outer surface shaped and sized to accommodate a reamed or unreamed acetabulum outer surface of an acetabulum socket, wherein the hemiarthroplasty cup is configured to maintain allowance of articulation of the femoral head outer surface and the acetabulum socket relative to the hemiarthroplasty cup after implantation.
