BONE FIXATION IMPLANT AND METHOD OF IMPLANTATION

An implant configured to attach a first bone to a second bone includes an intramedullary portion, an extramedullary portion, and an intermediate portion. The intramedullary portion includes a longitudinal axis and an intramedullary fastener hole extending therethrough. The extramedullary portion is configured for contact with the second bone and includes a bone facing surface configured to abut a surface of the second bone. The bone facing surface is spaced apart from the longitudinal axis. The extramedullary portion further includes an extramedullary fastener hole extending therethrough. The intermediate portion extends between the intramedullary and extramedullary portions and has a compression fastener hole extending therethrough having a compression fastener hole axis. The compression fastener hole axis is disposed at an oblique angle with respect to the longitudinal axis.

Spine stabilization

A bone stabilizing plate includes two plate portions, each affixable to bones of a patient, the plate portions telescoping together with mating rails and grooves. A limiter associated with one of the plate portions sliding engages one a catch associated with the other of the plate portions, when the plate portions are telescoped together, and resists stops telescoping when the plate portions are telescoped a predetermined distance apart. Once the limiter and catch are engaged, the plate portions enable imposition of a minimum compressive force between bones connected to the plates. The limiter is resiliently positioned to deflect into a relief formed in its respective plate portion. A groove positioned proximate the catch enables free telescoping motion limited by the engagement of the catch and limiter, whereby the minimum compressive force between bones is maintained, and Wolfe's Law may apply.

Surgical fixation assemblies and methods of use

A fixation assembly includes an anchor, a cam, and a shaft. The anchor defines a longitudinal axis and includes a spine that extends along the longitudinal axis. The spine has a first projection and a second projection that extend from the spine in a direction transverse to a longitudinal axis. The anchor defines a slot between the first and second projections. The cam is disposed with the slot and is positioned to rotate about the longitudinal axis between first and second positions to enable the first and second projections and the cam to secure the anchor to osseous tissue. The shaft is rotatably disposed within the anchor and positioned to rotate the cam between the first and second positions. In the first position, the cam is aligned with the first and second projections, and in the second position, the cam is misaligned with the first and second projections.

Maxillary expander and protraction device

A medical device and method of expanding the maxilla of a patient via application of intra-orally generated forces and/or applying externally generated protraction forces to the maxilla of the patient is provided. The medical device can embody multiple configurations device that include skeletal anchorage device alone or in combination with a fixed aligner or an adjustable aligner.

Hinged anterior cervical plate system
20210022777 · 2021-01-28 · ·

A folding anterior cervical locking plate system for stabilizing the cervical spine in a spinal fusion procedure. The plate system has at least two plate sections hinged together by a hinge structure at adjacent ends for pivoting movement of the plate sections relative to one another through at least 90 in each of two directions. A first hole in each plate section enables visualization of the underlying graft. A locking plate spans adjacent ends of the plate sections and holes in the locking plate are aligned with holes in adjacent plate sections so pedicle screws inserted through the holes in the locking plates extend through the holes in the plate sections to secure the system to the vertebral bodies and stabilizes the cervical spine. In one embodiment the locking plate slides in guide channels on opposite side edges of the plate sections.

Modular bone plate and member of such a modular bone plate

A modular bone plate includes a first plate member including a first connection portion having a first hole and a second plate member including a second connection portion having a second hole. The first plate member is connectable to the second plate member when the first plate member and the second plate member are arranged such that the first hole and the second hole overlap. The modular bone plate also includes a connector member that is insertable into the first hole and the second hole when the first hole and the second hole overlap such as to connect the first plate member and the second plate member. The connector member includes a passage that is configured to accommodate a portion of a bone anchor therein.

Cranioplasty plate assembly with pivotal struts

An adjustable cranioplasty plate assembly is provided for use following a craniectomy. The assembly includes a ring which is attached to the skull around the skull opening and a plate adjustably mounted to the ring. The plate is moveable between a raised position spaced above the ring and a lower position substantially flush with the ring. The plurality of extendable and retractable struts extends between the ring and the plate to provide the plate adjustability. The plurality of stay cables extending between the ring and the plate provide lateral stability in the raised position. The assembly replaces the native bone and eliminates the need for subsequent cranioplasty surgery. In one embodiment, the plate includes a rigid central portion, three rigid mounting tabs, and a plurality of malleable tapered perimeter petals which provide a smooth interface between the plate and the skull of the patient.

Securing plate assemblies, systems, and methods thereof. A hinge plate assembly includes a first body portion having a groove extending into the first body and a second body portion having a tongue extending outwardly therefrom and inserted into the groove. A securing member secures the tongue in the groove.

EXTERNAL LOCKING FIXATION DEVICE FOR EXTRA-ARTICULAR FRACTURES

A locking fixation device for treating extra-articular fractures includes a connector assembly connected to two end plates. Rotation of the connector assembly about an axis extending therethrough converts rotational motion to linear motion, and advances the end plates in a linear direction away from (lengthening) or toward (compression) each other.
