A surgical fixation system including a base plate, a plurality of anchors and a locking element. The base plate has at least a pair of fixation apertures configured to receive at least a portion of the anchors therethrough. The fixation apertures are located within the base plate such that upon proper placement of the base plate within a surgical target site, one of the fixation apertures is positioned over a first bone segment (e.g., a first vertebral body), and the other fixation aperture is positioned over a second bone segment (e.g., a second vertebral body).

Adjustable devices for treating arthritis of the knee

A method of changing a bone angle includes creating an osteotomy between a first portion and a second portion of a tibia of a patient; creating a cavity in the tibia by removing bone material along an axis extending in a substantially longitudinal direction from a first point at the tibial plateau to a second point; placing a non-invasively adjustable implant into the cavity, the non-invasively adjustable implant comprising an adjustable actuator having an outer housing and an inner shaft, telescopically disposed in the outer housing, and a driving element configured to be remotely operable to telescopically displace the inner shaft in relation to the outer housing; coupling one of the outer housing or the inner shaft to the first portion of the tibia; coupling the other of the outer housing or the inner shaft to the second portion of the tibia; and remotely operating the driving element to telescopically displace the inner shaft in relation to the outer housing, thus changing an angle between the first portion and second portion of the tibia.

The present disclosure is directed to an expandable medical implant for the repair of cranium defects in adolescent patients. The implants of the present disclosure can include a plurality of interconnected links that are movable with respect to each other as the underlying cranium grows and expands.

Anterior cervical instrumentation systems, methods and devices
11364056 · 2022-06-21 · ·

Anterior cervical instrumentation systems, methods, and devices are disclosed. Systems may facilitate immobilizing or providing support for the cervical portion of the vertebral column of a patient. A device may comprise a plate having two channels located in a proximal to distal direction, and may further comprise at least one aperture. The device may further comprise attachment elements such as attachment cross-links and spacer cross-links, and fasteners. The plate and the attachment elements may be secured to the vertebrae by passing fasteners through apertures and channels. The length of the plate, position and number of the attachment cross-links, position and number of spacer cross-links and degree of movement may be intraoperatively selected by the surgeon to provide an optimal application and procedural outcome. Uniform components of the devices and systems allow for a more streamlined and simplified method of treating spinal conditions.

EXTRA MEDULAR INTERNAL BONE FIXATION AND ELONGATION DEVICE WITH DYNAMIC AXIAL STABILIZATION
20220183729 · 2022-06-16 ·

The development of an internal bone lengthening stabilization system with extramedullary localization to generate a dynamic axial stabilization system by the incorporation of tension-locked Kirschner wires and tension-locked cerclage wires is described.

It features as a benefit the performance of bone lengthening, transports or reconstruction without any external fixation element, using the benefits of the pressure Kirschner wires in different planes without going through soft parts such as skin, cells, fascia, muscle, thereby reducing the risk of neurological and vascular injury to these elements.

The present development is based on my previous patent “Canulated locking and fixation assembly for trauma surgery”, which allows the attachment of Kirschner wires, cerclage wires, ender or TENS with tension to internal extramedullary fixation elements such as locked plates or bone fixation rings.

The present development has a central sliding zone of motorized lengthening, being able to use the different motorized systems currently developed for intramedullary nails.

We think its main application will be for femur and tibia, but it can involve any bone if its development is considered useful.

Adjustable rib and sternal implant

An implant assembly for a human sternum and ribs can include a sternal implant and a rib link. The sternal implant can be couplable to a sternum. The rib link can include a distal portion, a proximal portion, and a strut. The distal portion can be couplable to a rib. The proximal portion can be couplable to the sternal implant. The strut can connect the distal portion to the proximal portion. The strut can be configured to flex so that the distal portion can be aligned with the rib.

An exemplary construct comprises a dynamic tensioning device configured to be implanted in a subject and defining a suture-coupling site. The dynamic tensioning device may be deformable superelastically from a resting state to a stretched state. A suture may be connected to the dynamic tensioning device at the suture-coupling site.

Orthopaedic fixation device, system and method

An implantable fixation device for rejoining opposed portions of a separated bone. The device including two corresponding plates that are configured to be aligned and coupled to a bone, such as a sternum, pre-resection of the bone or prior to cutting/separating the bone. The placement of the corresponding plates provides a gap between the edges of the plates that face one another allowing for and guiding a cutting tool for separating the bone. After the bone has been cut and the desired surgical procedure performed, the plates also assist in realigning and fixation of the bone portions. At least one plate includes a ratchet mechanism that is configured to tighten a locking element and draw the two plates together and into alignment with one another.
