Orthopaedic fixation devices, systems and methods
An implantable fixation device for rejoining opposed portions of a separated bone. The device including two corresponding plates that are configured to be aligned and coupled to a bone, such as a sternum, pre-resection of the bone or prior to cutting/separating the bone. The placement of the corresponding plates provides a gap between the edges of the plates that face one another allowing for and guiding a cutting tool for separating the bone. After the bone has been cut and the desired surgical procedure performed, the plates also assist in realigning and fixation of the bone portions. At least one plate includes a ratchet mechanism that is configured to tighten a locking element and draw the two plates together and into alignment with one another.
Multipoint fixation implants
Bone anchor assemblies are disclosed herein that can provide for improved fixation as compared with traditional bone anchor assemblies. An exemplary assembly can include a bracket or wing that extends down from the receiver member and accommodates one or more auxiliary bone anchors that augment the fixation of the assembly's primary bone anchor. Another exemplary assembly can include a plate that is seated between the receiver member and the rod and accommodates one or more auxiliary bone anchors that augment the fixation of the assembly's primary bone anchor. Another exemplary assembly can include a hook that extends out from the receiver member to hook onto an anatomical structure or another implant to augment the fixation of the assembly's primary bone anchor. Surgical methods using the bone anchor assemblies described herein are also disclosed.
Bone fixation apparatus
Implantable bone fixations apparatus comprising a pair of plates (1 and 1′) provided with holes (11, 12, 13) for receiving compression and/or locking screws and with longitudinal slots (15), characterized by a union element (3) disposed between the plates (1, 1′) such as to bridge the bone parts that need to be united, the union element (3) comprising rods that cooperate with the longitudinal slots (15) of the plates (1, 1′).
Spine Implant with an Expandable Cage and Expandable Vertebral Attachment Plate Providing Uniform Rate Movement
A spine implant for receipt between and fastened to a lower vertebra and an adjacent upper vertebra is characterized by an expandable cage and an expandable plate attached to the expandable cage. When the expandable cage is expanded, both the expandable cage and the expandable plate expand together at a uniform rate of movement. Engagement features of the expandable cage cooperate with engagement features of the expandable plate such that expansion of the expandable cage carries the expandable plate along during its expansion. The engagement features of the expandable cage may be configured as notches, cavities, or recessed pockets, while the engagement features of the expandable plate may be configured as tangs, flanges, or protuberances styled to be received by the configured notches of the expandable cage. Cam locks on the expandable plate help bone fastener backout.
Bone plate with movable joint
System, including methods and devices, for fixing bone. The system may include a bone plate having two or more plate members connected to one another with one or more movable joints. Each joint may permit the orientation of the plate members to be adjusted relative to one another in a single plane or two or more nonparallel planes. The joint may have a movable configuration and a fixed configuration. Methods of creating the bone plate are also provided.
Module For A Modular Bone Plate, Modular Bone Plate Of This Construction, And System Comprising Said Plate
The invention relates to a module for a modular bone plate, to a modular bone plate of this construction, and to system comprising said plate. A module for a modular bone plate comprises a male coupling portion, a female coupling portion, and an intermediate body that extends between said male and female coupling portions, wherein the male portion, or female portion respectively, is arranged to cooperate with a female portion, or male portion respectively, of a second module for a modular bone plate, said male coupling portion comprising a tenon and said female coupling portion comprising a mortise, the male coupling portion and the female coupling portion having recesses and, when the female coupling portion receives a male coupling portion of a second module for a bone plate, the recess of the female coupling portion of the module and the recess of the male coupling portion of the second module form a hole referred to as an ‘assembly’ hole, said assembly hole passing through from the upper surface of the female coupling portion to the lower surface of the female coupling portion, and said assembly hole passing through the tenon of the male coupling portion and the mortise of the female coupling portion.
Module For A Modular Bone Plate, Arranged To Receive An Anchoring Device, Modular Bone Plate Of This Construction, And System Comprising Said Plate And Anchoring Device
The invention relates to a module (100) for a modular bone plate, comprising a male coupling portion (102), a female coupling portion (104) and an intermediate body (106) that extends between said male and female coupling portions, the male coupling portion, or female coupling portion respectively, being arranged to cooperate with a female portion, or male portion respectively, of a second module of a modular bone plate, the male coupling portion and the female coupling portion having recesses (1024, 1026) to form a hole, referred to as an assembly hole, which passes from an upper surface to a lower surface of the module and is arranged to cooperate with a bone anchoring device that has two threads spaced apart by a non-threaded zone, wherein one of the two threads is intended to anchor the bone device in a bone and the assembly hole is partially threaded so as to cooperate with the other of the two threads of said anchoring device.
Lamina plate assembly
Lamina plate assemblies, systems, and methods thereof. A lamina plate assembly may be configured to provide lamina support following laminectomy, for example, in cervical and lumbar cases. The lamina plate assembly may include a generally elongate body having a first free end, a second free end, and a posterior portion disposed between the first free end and the second free end. Different embodiments of securing portions are used to secure the lamina plate assembly to a vertebra.
CONTINUOUS COMPRESSION DEVICE FOR BONE
There is disclosed devices and methods for providing continuous bone compression for bone healing. The devices can include both intermedullary and exoskeletal devices. The devices are “tunable”, or specific to, the quality of the bone.
MODULAR CRIMPABLE PLATE
A modular crimpable bone plate system, including: a first rod and a second rod; and a plurality of rod connectors, wherein the rod connectors further include: a first tube and a second tube configured to slide over the first and second rods; a first leg and a second leg each connected between the first and second tubes; and an opening between the first and second legs and between the first and second tubes, where in the opening is configured to accept a screw head of a screw; wherein the first and second tubes are configured to be crimped onto the first and second rods, and wherein the first leg and second leg are configured to be crimped onto the screw.
