PATIENT-SPECIFIC SURGICAL METHODS AND INSTRUMENTATION
A patient specific instrument is disclosed for correcting a condition present in a patient. The patient specific instrument includes a body that includes an inferior side having a bone engagement surface shaped to match a first surface of a first bone and a second surface of a second bone of a joint. The instrument also includes a superior side having a first guide feature and a second guide feature that together, with the bone engagement surface overlying the first surface and the second surface, are positioned to guide resection of the first bone and the second bone during a surgical osteotomy for correcting the condition. The body is configured to seat transverse to the joint with the bone engagement surface engaging the first surface of the first bone and the second surface of the second bone.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLED FACET REPOSITIONING IN THE CALCANEUS
A surgical method surgical method includes collecting a set of patient data, identifying at least one significant point from the set of patient data, creating a surgical guide based on the at least one significant point and the patient data, and coupling the surgical guide with a calcaneum of a patient. The surgical method also includes performing at least one cut into the calcaneum using the surgical guide, wherein the at least one cut forms a recess in the calcaneum and defines a first calcaneal portion positioned substantially anteriorly from the recess and a second calcaneal portion positioned substantially posteriorly from the recess, shifting at least one of the first calcaneal portion and the second portion in a medial direction by placing an implant at least partially within the recess, and coupling the implant with the first calcaneal portion and the second calcaneal portion.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS INCLUDING A SET OF CUTTING BURRS FOR PERFORMING AN OSTEOTOMY
Surgical instruments and methods for performing an osteotomy are disclosed herein. A surgical instrument includes a body with a distal end, a proximal end, a first surface, and a second surface. The surgical instrument can include cutting burrs positioned on the first surface and/or the second surface. The surgical instrument can include cutting burrs positioned on the first surface and cutting blades positioned on the second surface.

The surgical instrument can also include cutting burrs positioned on the first surface and cutting blades positioned on the second surface.
Guide module having oblique installation pins
The present invention relates to a guide module having oblique installation pins, the guide module including: a first installation pin unit penetratively inserted into one side of an aligned bone; a second installation pin unit penetratively inserted into the other side of the aligned bone; a reposition guide unit simultaneously penetrated by the first installation pin unit and the second installation pin unit and being simultaneously in contact with one side of the aligned bone and the other side of the aligned bone; and a compression guide unit disposed adjacent to the reposition guide unit and simultaneously penetrated by the first installation pin unit and the second installation pin unit, in which imaginary central axes of holes of the reposition guide unit penetrated by the first installation pin unit and the second installation pin unit are spaced apart, at a predetermined interval in a vertical direction, from imaginary central axes of holes of the compression guide unit. Therefore, the aligned bone may be compressed.
Bone shortening osteotomy apparatus
A bone shortening osteotomy apparatus is configured to provide positive retention of the bone portions as the two cut bone portions are retracted. The apparatus utilizes a bone plate with a compression block detachable attached in a fixed position and a sled assembly that is slidably engaged with the bone plate. A jacking screw extends from the sled to the compression block to draw these two components together. K-wire barrels coupled to the sled converge to direct K-wires into bone. Sled guide pins extend between the sled and the compression block and preferably on opposing sides of the jacking screw to ensure straight movement of the sled toward the compression block. A cutting guide has guide slots for guiding a cutting implement through the bone. A slot wedge may be inserted through the guide slot after cutting the bone to stabilize the cutting guide and bone for subsequent cutting.
ADJUSTABLE DEVICES FOR TREATING ARTHRITIS OF THE KNEE
A method of changing a bone angle includes creating an osteotomy between a first portion and a second portion of a tibia of a patient; creating a cavity in the tibia by removing bone material along an axis extending in a substantially longitudinal direction from a first point at the tibial plateau to a second point; placing a non-invasively adjustable implant into the cavity, the non-invasively adjustable implant comprising an adjustable actuator having an outer housing and an inner shaft, telescopically disposed in the outer housing, and a driving element configured to be remotely operable to telescopically displace the inner shaft in relation to the outer housing; coupling one of the outer housing or the inner shaft to the first portion of the tibia; coupling the other of the outer housing or the inner shaft to the second portion of the tibia; and remotely operating the driving element to telescopically displace the inner shaft in relation to the outer housing, thus changing an angle between the first portion and second portion of the tibia.
Anti-microbial and osteointegration nanotextured surfaces
Disclosed is a medical device having a substrate having an exposed surface and a texture over at least part of the exposed surface. The texture includes a plurality of nanofeatures that inhibit bacterial adhesion on the surface and that also inhibit bacterial growth on the surface and have a size range between about 0.01 nanometers and about 1,000 nanometers. The texture can include a plurality of nanofeatures applied thereto such that the texture has a first particle size at a first location, a second particle size at a second location, and a gradient of particle size from the first particle size to the second particle size between the first location and the second location.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR JOINING BONEY STRUCTURES
Disclosed are system and methods that use at least one non-threaded anchor and an implant with at least one aperture to join boney structures, where the interaction of the head of the anchor with the implant aperture causes the anchor to move transversely with respect to an initial trajectory. This movement causes compression or distraction of the boney structures which are coupled to the anchors.
Osteotomy device and methods
Methods and apparatus for performing an osteotomy. One embodiment includes a kit comprising a bone plate, a bridging device, and a spreading device. The bridge is configured to hold open the incision in the bone, whether the spreading device is inserted into the bone, or the bone plate is attached to the bone. The spreading device preferably includes a scissors-type mechanism for spreading two wedge-shaped members apart, contemplating both pivotal and displacement movements of one wedging member relative to another wedging member. The spring device preferably includes an ergonomic grip for the hand of the physician, and a hammering surface useful in inserting the spreading device into the incision.
