Examples of the invention relate to methods, implants, and instruments for compressing first and second bone portions or a bone portion and an implant together.

Forceps for handling/holding a mobile wedge plate

The present invention includes devices, systems and methods for the storage, retrieval and placement of plates having wedges. A wedge plate tray includes an upper portion and at least one recessed portion, the recessed portion including a cavity sized to house the wedge and an additional cavity sized to accommodate placement and movement of an arm of an insertion instrument. The insertion instrument includes two arms connected at a hinge, a tip of each arm including a mating connector sized to engage a complementary mating connector on the wedge. In one embodiment of the method, the insertion instrument can be used to place the wedge plate in an osteotomy and where the wedge is a mobile wedge, a plate component can be adjusted to a desired position for securement while using the insertion instrument to hold the wedge in place in the osteotomy.

Patient-specific fixation plate with wedge member for knee osteotomies

A fixation plate for securing an opening formed in a bone is provided. The fixation plate includes: a body securable to the bone, the body having a bone interface side and an outward facing side; and a wedge element extending from the bone interface side of the body for inserting into the opening formed in the bone. The wedge element is shaped to conform to contours of the opening formed in the bone. In some embodiments, the wedge element is provided with an evolutive canal. A corresponding method for designing a patient-specific fixation plate is also provided.

An expandable implant includes a base member including a top surface, a first end, and a second end, and defining a central cavity positioned between the first end and the second end; an adjustable member including a top surface and at least one control channel, wherein the adjustable member is adjustably coupled to the base member and movable between a first, collapsed position, and a second, expanded position; a control shaft rotatable received by the base member, wherein rotation of the control shaft cause relative movement of the adjustable member relative to the base member; and at least one control member received on the control shaft and by the control channel, wherein rotation of the control shaft causes the control member to translate along the control shaft and along the control channel.

IMPLANTS, DEVICES, SYSTEMS, KITS AND METHODS OF IMPLANTING

A distraction kit including at least one trial insert, at least one handle for coupling to the at least one trial insert, a correction indication guide, and at least one implant. A method for performing a distraction arthrodesis including inserting at least one trial insert into a joint and selecting a trial insert of the at least one trial insert for correction of the joint in a first plane. The method also including rotating the selected trial insert in a medial-lateral direction for correction of the joint in a second plane and selecting the needed correction in the first plane and the second plane. The method further including marking at least one bone for the selected correction. Then, marking the implant with the correction indication guide to achieve proper placement of the implant and joint correction replication from the desired trial positioning. Implants, devices, and systems are also disclosed.

BONE FIXATION DEVICES

There is a fixation device for promoting fusion and/or osteosynthesis of a first bone segment and a second bone segment, comprising a bone plate portion including an outer surface, an inner surface and at least one fixation aperture extending from the outer surface to the inner surface and a bone wedge portion extending from the plate portion at a first end and a free opposite end, the bone wedge portion comprising a porous architecture configured to promote bone ingrowth, the wedge portion defining first and second engagement surfaces for engaging the first bone segment and a second bone segment, respectively. There is also a method of manufacturing a fixation device for promoting fusion and/or osteosynthesis of a first bone segment and a second bone segment, a method of promoting fusion and/or osteosynthesis of a first bone segment and a second bone segment, and a fixation kit.

ADJUSTABLE DEVICES FOR TREATING ARTHRITIS OF THE KNEE

Systems and related methods for changing the angle of a bone of a subject is provided by the present disclosure. The system may include a non-invasively adjustable implant configured to be placed inside a cavity within the bone. The non-invasively adjustable implant may couple to a first portion of bone and a second portion of bone that is separated or separable from the first portion of bone, such that non-invasive elongation of the adjustable implant causes movement of the first portion of bone and the second portion of bone apart angularly. The system may include an anchor configured to couple the non-invasively adjustable implant to bone. The non-invasively adjustable implant may include an anchor hole configured to receive the anchor therein.

Surgical System

A removable wedge for high tibial osteotomy surgery, comprising: a truncated wedge configured to provide a patient specific correction to the weight bearing axis based on 3D data for that patient’s tibia, femur and/or fibula; and an anterior flange configured to locate the partial wedge in a predetermined location on the tibia of that patient. Also a method for pre-operative planning, a method of designing a wedge, a method of printing a wedge a reusable wedge and a prosthetic implant.

A bone displacement system includes an anchoring portion, a flexing mechanism, and a distal body. The anchoring portion has an aperture for receiving a wire to connect the anchoring portion to a proximal bone. The flexing mechanism is connected to the anchoring portion, and has a rail and a holding portion movable on the rail. The rail is curved about a center of rotation located toward a bottom of the flexing mechanism and toward the proximal bone. The distal body is connected to the holding portion. The distal body has an aperture for receiving a wire to connect the distal body to a distal bone. The flexing mechanism is configured to move the distal body relative to the anchoring portion by a movement of the holding portion on the rail and about the center of rotation to flex the first bone relative to the second bone.
