Thoracic prosthesis and its method of preparation
The present invention refers to a thoracic prosthesis constituted by a right hemisphere ED and a left hemisphere ES joined together, or to only one of the two hemispheres, or to only one portion of the latter. The present invention further relates to a method for the preparation of a synthetic thoracic prosthesis PT constituted by a right hemisphere ED and a left hemisphere ES joined together by only one of the two hemispheres or by a single portion of the latter; all of the above being prepared without any direct interaction with human body and prior to implantation therein.
Production method for medical linear member
A production method for a medical linear member is provided which is not abraded upon production and which includes a flat shape in a cross section. The method includes the steps of: forming a first spiral body (1) of an oval shape in a horizontal section by spirally winding a base body (3), in which a plurality of wires (2) formed of a shape-memory alloy is arrayed, around a winding core (4); subjecting the first spiral body (1) to first shape-memory treatment; cutting the first spiral body (1) into a first predetermined length; forming a second spiral body (5) of a flat shape in a horizontal section by compressing the first spiral body (1) in a direction along a short diameter; subjecting the second spiral body (5) to second shape-memory treatment; and removing the winding core (4) from the second spiral body (5).
STERNAL CLOSURE CERCLAGE, PLATE IMPLANT AND INSTRUMENTATION
A system including a bone punch tool and a needle guide. The bone punch tool can include a support arm having a support arm proximal portion and a support arm distal portion, a pivot arm having a pivot arm proximal portion and a pivot arm distal portion, and an arcuate punch configured to punch through bone. The pivot arm distal portion can be pivotably coupled to the support arm distal portion, such that the pivot arm proximal portion is configured to be moved away from the support arm proximal portion to extend the arcuate punch into a punch position to punch an arcuate hole through bone. The needle guide can be configured to guide a needle through the arcuate hole.
Sternum fixation device and method
An apparatus and technique for infernally securing a plurality of bone segments together. The device incorporates a plate-like structure stabilizing the fracture and integrated fasteners to attach straps circumscribing the bone segments.
CHEST WALL REPAIR DEVICE
Embodiments herein provide a chest wall repair plate device where a central portion of the device is comprised of an elastomer to allow for rapid resection using a standard surgical scalpel should there be a need to quickly re-enter the chest cavity. The elastomeric section adjoins two or more rigid plate sections creating a simple, easily removable sternal stabilization system.
Method of reinforcing a sternum after a sternotomy or a sternal fracture
A method for reinforcing a sternum after a sternotomy or a sternal fracture. The method includes i) applying a plurality of elongated members along at least one longitudinal lateral edge of the sternum, wherein the elongated members are each provided with a first connection part and a second connection part; ii) slidably joining a first connection part of a first elongated member with a second connection part of an adjacent preceding elongated member along the longitudinal lateral edge of the sternum; iii) slidably joining a second connection part of the first elongated member with a first connection part of an adjacent following elongated member along the same longitudinal lateral edge of the sternum; iv) fitting a projecting portion of one or more of said elongated members in an intercostal space adjacent to the longitudinal lateral edge of the sternum; and v) fixing the elongated members to the sternum.
Fixation assembly with a flexible elongated member for securing parts of a sternum
A fixation assembly for securing parts of a sternum is provided. The assembly comprises a flexible elongated member and an attachment member. The flexible elongated member includes a locking structure configured to secure the flexible elongated member in a loop around the sternum parts. The attachment member has at least one opening for receiving a bone fastener and is coupled to the flexible elongated member.
Bone plate system and method
A bone plate system for securing a plurality of bones is provided including a plate member, a locking device of the bone plate, and a surgical cable having a trailing end for being connected to the bone plate and a leading end for being advanced around the bones and into the locking device. The surgical cable may be tensioned to approximate the bones, urge the bones together, and seat the bone plate against the bones. The locking device may be reconfigured to a locked configuration to fix the bone plate to the surgical cable. The bone plate further includes a plurality of throughbores for receiving bone anchors that rigidly fix the bone plate to the bones. The bone plate system utilizes the tensile strength of the surgical cable and the rigid fixation between the bone anchors and the bone plate to resist relative movement of the bones.
Sternal closure and ribs approximator devices
The present invention provides a sternal closure and ribs approximator device, the device comprising: a substantially C-shaped shaft/bracket, said bracket comprising: a linear shaft and a pair of curvilinear arms at either ends of the shaft, respectively; and a pair of claw shaped clamping elements, each claw shaped clamping element coupling with an arm of the C-shaped shaft/bracket, near its end portion, said claw shaped clamping element being positioned such that the concavity of the claw faces the inner area determined by the arms of the C-shaped clamping shaft/bracket, the coupling being provided by means of a fastening mechanism such that angular displacement of the claw shaped clamping element about the pivoted fastening mechanism is provisioned, said claw shaped clamping elements adapted to be angularly displaced towards each other or away from each other.
