The diameter of the central opening is reducible over a bone by elongation of the implant and securable to maintain fracture reduction. A method of setting a fractured bone comprises providing the tubular implant having a rest length and a central opening defining a rest inner diameter, introducing the fractured bone through the central opening in the implant, elongating the implant and reducing the inner diameter about the fractured bone, and securing the first and second ends of the implant to the fractured bone.

A method of forming a suture tape assembly having a visually distinguishable midpoint includes weaving a longitudinally central portion of a length of round suture material together with other strands of material to form a length of suture tape. This suture tape has a longitudinal first end and a longitudinal second end, and the length of round suture material extends from both the first end and second end. Next, a center part of the length of the round suture material is grasped and pulled outwardly from the suture tape, to form a partial loop extending outwardly from the suture tape. This partial loop is cut from the suture tape, thereby leaving a longitudinally medial segment of the suture tape without the round suture material, and thereby being made visibly distinguishable from neighboring suture tape, which includes the round suture material.

A bone repair device includes a plate having a pathway and a flexible structure. The plate includes opposing top and bottom surfaces and a first side extending between the top and the bottom surfaces. The flexible structure is directly attached to and extends from the first side of the plate. In operation, the bone repair device is placed around and over a plurality of bone parts. The plate is secured to the plurality of bone parts with a cable inserted through the pathway and wrapped around the bone parts.
