DEVICE FOR MIXING AND STORING POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE BONE CEMENT WITH PRESSURE PUMP AND AMPOULE BREAKER
A device mixes bone cement and stores parent components of the bone cement. The device has a cartridge comprising an interior, that is closed on one side by a movable delivery plunger, a receptacle comprising side walls for receiving a monomer liquid container that are closed at least in some regions. The receptacle has at least one deformable closed side wall, a screen and/or a filter arranged below the receptacle so that the contents of the opened monomer liquid container flow through the screen and/or the filter. The device further has a connecting line through which the monomer liquid is to be routed into the interior of the cartridge, a hollow cylinder which is connected to the connecting line and which is connected to the receptacle by way of a fluid connection so that the hollow cylinder is arranged in a fluid line between the receptacle and the interior of the cartridge. A pump plunger is arranged in the hollow cylinder, which is axially displaceable in the hollow cylinder, and an opening device, which is movably mounted against the deformable side wall of the receptacle. The opening device extends into the hollow cylinder, wherein, by pressing the pump plunger into the hollow cylinder, the opening device is to be pressed against the deformable side wall of the receptacle so that the deformable side wall deforms such that a monomer liquid container located in the receptacle is to be opened by the pressure of the opening device.
Methods of filling bone using bone cement mixing and delivery devices
Methods of filling bone cavities are provided. The methods use a bone cement mixing and delivery device that includes a shaft extending along an axis from a first end to a second end and including a passageway. The first end includes an adapter having a first opening that is in communication with the passageway. The second end includes a second opening that is in communication with the passageway. The shaft includes a mixing portion between the first and second ends. A connector includes a central portion that that is coupled to the adapter. The central portion includes a channel that is in communication with the first opening. The connector includes first and second ports that extend from the central portion. The first port includes a first lumen that is in communication with the channel. The second port includes a second lumen that is in communication with the channel.

Method and apparatus for delivering cement paste into a bone cavity
A technique for simultaneously forming a plurality of paste filled tunnels. The plurality of paste filled tunnels are connected to a surgical tube directly or indirectly and emptied one after another, until a desired amount of the paste is injected into a bone cavity, organ or a tissue via the surgical tube. The paste may be a bone cement paste, a drug powder paste, viscous fluid or gel. The injected bone cement paste will set in the bone cavity to act as a medical implant.
ACTUATING MECHANISM, METHOD OF OPERATION AND ASSEMBLY FOR FLUID DISPLACEMENT AND PRESSURIZING DEVICE
A fluid pressurizing and displacement device which is configured for both macro movement and micro movement of a plunger. In order to execute micro movement of the plunger, a user need only rotate the plunger; to execute macro movement of the plunger, a user need only push or pull the plunger. This simplicity in use is possible because a half-nut (or other suitable structure within the device) remains engaged with the plunger, except when the plunger is being pushed or pulled by its operator. All user motions are simple and intuitive.
MIXING DEVICE, IN PARTICULAR DESIGNED FOR MIXING BONE CEMENT
A mixing device, in particular for bone cement, in which at least two ampoules provided with a septum are pushed onto needles, in parallel to each other, for discharging the liquid.
Device for mixing a bone cement with hollow space for monomer transfer
One aspect relates to a device for the production of a bone cement dough from a monomer liquid and a cement powder comprising a cartridge with an internal space; a cartridge head with a dispensing opening; a conveying plunger that is supported in the internal space of the cartridge such that it is pushable in the direction of the dispensing opening; a dispensing plunger between the dispensing opening and the conveying plunger that is supported in the internal space of the cartridge such that it is pushable in the direction of the dispensing opening; a first hollow space, in which the cement powder is arranged; a second hollow space that is bordered by the dispensing plunger and the conveying plunger; a rear-side part of the internal space of the cartridge; and a conducting means that connects the second hollow space to the rear-side part of the internal space of the cartridge such as to bypass the conveying plunger and be permeable to the monomer liquid. The conducting means can be closed by the conveying plunger with respect to the second hollow space by shifting the conveying plunger in the direction of the dispensing plunger, and a feedthrough in the dispensing plunger that connects the first hollow space and the second hollow space such as to be permeable to the monomer liquid.
METHOD FOR LUBRICATING AN ARTIFICIAL CONTACTING SURFACE
A method for implanting a medical device for implantation in a mammal joint. The method comprising the steps of creating an opening reaching from outside of the human body into the joint, providing said artificial contacting surface to said joint, fixating the artificial contacting surface to the joint, implanting said reservoir in the human body, and lubricating the artificial contacting surface with use of a lubricating fluid contained in said reservoir.
Mixing and delivery device for bone cement and associated methods
In a bone cement mixing and delivery device, a plug can be removably disposable in an injection passage of a cylindrical container. A mixing screw can rotate in a chamber of the container and has a screw thread extending along an outer surface of the mixing screw as well as a return passage extending through the mixing screw from the proximal end to the distal end thereof. In a mixing mode of the device, a mixing rod engages and rotates the mixing screw about a longitudinal axis of the cylindrical container causing material disposed in the chamber to be moved distally and return to the proximal end of the chamber through the return passage of the mixing screw. In an injection mode of the device, the plug can be removed from the injection passage and an injection rod occludes the return passage of the mixing screw.
MANUAL MIXER
A manual mixer serves to facilitate mixing and agitating materials for use during surgery. For example, the manual mixer includes a body portion defining an interior area, a mixing assembly provided in the interior area of the body portion, a crank assembly for actuating the mixing assembly, and a valve assembly. The mixing assembly serves to mix and agitate the materials provided in the interior through rotation of a plunger portion and a spring attached thereto, and through upwards and downwards movement of the plunger portion in the interior area. Rotation of the crank assembly serves to rotate the plunger portion and the spring attached thereto, and effectuate upwards and downwards movement of the plunger portion. The valve assembly can be opened to facilitate dispensing of the materials from the interior area.
