Drill guide assembly
A drill guide to facilitate drilling a hole into a bone and inserting an anchor. The drill guide includes a handle extending to a proximal end and a guide shaft extending from the handle to a distal end. A recess extends into the handle at the proximal end. The drill guide also includes a channel extending through the recess and into the guide shaft and a contact surface extending from the recess. The contact surface may be a proximal surface on a ring extending circumferentially within the recess. The contact surface may alternatively be a proximal surface on a protrusion extending from and within the recess. For example, the protrusion is a triangular protrusion extending along the recess toward the channel. The contact surface allows for the use of inserters of varying sizes within the channel of the drill guide.
Expandable spinal implant and tool system
A self-drilling bone fusion screw apparatus is disclosed which includes at least first and second sliding boxes. A first screw member having a tapered end and a threaded body is disposed within the first sliding box, and a second screw member having a tapered end and a threaded body disposed within the second sliding box. An adjuster adjusts the height of the sliding boxes. The screw members are screwed into vertebral bodies in order to fuse the vertebral bodies together. A plurality of the self-drilling bone fusion screw apparatuses may be attached together and/or integrated via a plate or cage. Also disclosed is a cervical facet staple that includes a curved staple base and at least two prongs attached to the bottom surface of the curved staple base.
Multi-function driver instruments and related methods
Multi-function driver instruments and related methods are disclosed herein, e.g., for applying a fastener to a bone anchor. In some embodiments, a single instrument can include features for driving multiple different types of fasteners, independently driving multiple different components of a single fastener assembly, and so forth, with the instrument being switchable between multiple operating modes to select the feature needed for a particular function. The instrument can include features for retaining a fastener to the instrument, e.g., during initial insertion of the fastener.
INTERSPINOUS IMPLANT AND ASSOCIATED IMPLANTATION ANCILLARY
An interspinous implant includes an implant body extending along a longitudinal axis and having, in succession: a rear part having a rear end, and a central part shaped to extend between two spinous processes of two adjacent vertebrae, the central part extending the rear part. The implant further includes a front part extending the central part, in the opposite direction from the rear part, and tapering down to a front end of streamlined shape. The implant body has an anterior face intended to face toward the vertebrae and in which there is formed an anterior groove of curvilinear shape, extending from the rear end as far as the front end in a curvilinear direction, to accept at least a portion of an implantation prong of an implantation ancillary.
BI-DIRECTIONAL FIXATING TRANSVERTEBRAL BODY SCREWS AND POSTERIOR CERVICAL AND LUMBAR INTERARTICULATING JOINT CALIBRATED STAPLING DEVICES FOR SPINAL FUSION
Screw guides for bone plates
A fastener guide that includes a body. The body includes a through-bore configured for receiving a fastener and an end configured for contacting a bone plate. The fastener guide further includes at least one member configured for contacting and retaining the fastener within the body.
Driven universal screw guide
A driven fastener guide for guiding a fastener into a hole of a bone plate. The driven fastener guide includes an elongated driver configured for connecting to a drill and a fastener guide member operably connected to the elongated driver. The fastener guide member includes a split body and a through-bore configured for receiving the fastener. The fastener guide member is configured for aligning the fastener relative to the hole of the bone plate.
Active Compression Apparatus, Methods Of Assembly And Methods Of Use
Compression devices for joining tissue and methods for using and fabricating the same.
Systems, devices and methods for affixing soft tissue to bone
A system for fastening soft tissue to bone includes a bone screw having a threaded shaft and a screw head having an underside with malleable protuberances that project toward a distal end of the threaded shaft. A fixation plate is coupled with the threaded shaft. The fixation plate has a proximal face that opposes the underside of the screw head, a distal face that faces away from the underside of the screw head, an outer peripheral edge that extends between the proximal and distal faces, a central opening for receiving the threaded shaft, and protrusions spaced from one another around the outer peripheral edge that extend distally beyond the distal face of the fixation plate. The system includes an insertion tool having a handle and a tubular shaft extending distally from the handle. The tubular shaft has a proximal shaft section having an inner diameter that closely matches an outer diameter of the screw head, and a distal shaft section having an inner surface with a groove that seats the outer peripheral edge of the fixation plate for releasable retaining the fixation plate within the distal shaft section. A cartridge contains the bone screw and the fixation plate coupled with the bone screw. The cartridge includes a proximal end that seats the screw head and a distal end that seats the fixation plate of the bone screw.
Spinal surgery instruments, systems, and methods
An insertion assembly may include a flexible tool and a DTS guide configured to engage an intervertebral spacer having a fastener channel oriented at a first angle. The DTS guide may include a DTS guide channel oriented at the first angle which may be aligned with the fastener channel. The flexible tool may include a flexible shaft and a working member disposed at a distal end of the flexible shaft. The working member may be received through the DTS guide channel at the first angle. At least a portion of the flexible shaft adjacent the DTS guide member may flex while the working member is received through the DTS guide channel, such that a distal portion of the flexible shaft may be at a greater absolute angle relative to a DTS guide shaft than a proximal portion of the flexible shaft.
