In an exemplary embodiment, an adapter is configured to releasably attach to an end effector configured to impact bone. The end effector can be a broach, chisel, or other surgical implement. The adapter includes a spring-loaded hook that is configured to releasably seat in a cut-out formed in the end effector. The adapter is also configured to releasably attach to a surgical impacting tool, such as an orthopedic impactor, configured to drive impacting of the end effector relative to bone.

Systems and methods for intramedullary nail implantation

Intramedullary nails, systems, and methods. The intramedullary nail may include a generally elongate body extending from a first, distal end to a second, proximal end. The distal end may include one or more openings configured to receive one or more bone anchors that extend transversely through the distal end intramedullary nail, and thereby configured to secure the distal end of the nail. The proximal end may also include one or more openings configured to receive one or more bone anchors that extend transversely through the proximal end of the intramedullary nail, and thereby configured to secure the proximal end of the nail. In some embodiments, the proximal end may further include a cross-locking feature, which includes a second bone anchor that interlocks with a first bone anchor, for example, for enhanced bone purchase and bony fixation.

Fifth metatarsal repair systems and methods of use

The present application relates to repair systems, and more particularly to fifth metatarsal repair systems and methods of use. The repair systems described herein can include a fixation device with a threaded section. The repair systems described herein can include one or more grippers designed to be deflected outward to grip the sidewalls of an intramedullary canal of the fifth metatarsal. The repair systems described herein can include an end cap. The end cap can include a fastener including thread designed to engage the threaded section of the fixation device. The end cap can include a cap designed to move relative to the fastener.

METHOD FOR PREPARING IMPLANTABLE DEVICE FOR USE

An apparatus including a sterilizable tray having a base and at least one fixture connected to the tray adapted for removably securing an implant insertion device to the tray. The tray can be free of a first wall portion for permitting the proximal end of an implantable device to axially align with the end of the implant insertion device for coupling to the implant insertion device and can be free of a second wall portion for permitting a tool to axially align with the end of the implant insertion device so as to threadedly couple the implant insertion device to the implantable device. Related methods and apparatus are provided.

INSTRUMENTS AND METHOD FOR USE IN DISASSEMBLING IMPLANTS

An orthopaedic surgical instrument for use in disassembling an orthopaedic prosthesis includes a main component, a rod, and a spindle. The main component has a housing and an elongated body extending from the housing with a passageway is defined in the elongated body. The rod has an elongated shaft, with a greater length than the elongated body, extending from the head of the rod and configured to pass through the main component. The spindle threads into the housing to move the rod along a longitudinal axis.

Long stem implant extraction tool

The present disclosure provides an implant extraction tool for removing either cemented or non-cemented intramedullary stem implants from bones. The tool includes an elongated handle section having proximal and distal end sections with a cap section affixed to the distal end section of the elongated handle section, and cap section has a hole extending therethrough. The tool includes an attachment member having opposed ends, one of these opposed ends is configured to grip a cemented or non-cemented intramedullary implant stem in a bone. The attachment member has a size and shape to be received into the hole and the other of opposed end includes at least one hook feature for gripping the implant. The tool includes an elongated lever having an elongate proximal section and a shorter distal end section with a pivot fulcrum at a transition from the distal end section to the elongate proximal section. The distal end section is configured to engage the hook feature of the attachment when proximal end sections of the elongated handle section and the elongated lever are squeezed towards each other such that upon squeezing the attachment member is levered out of the hole in the cap section to effect removal of the stem implant.
