STRAIGHT AND CURVED FEMORAL BROACH IMPACTOR ADAPTERS
An orthopaedic surgical instrument may include an elongated body with a broach end and an impactor end. The body may be straight or curved. A latch lever may be pivotally coupled to the elongated body. The latch lever may be moveable between an open position and a latched position in which the latch lever is retained within the body. A surgical broach may be rigidly attached to the broach end of the elongated body. An automated surgical impactor may be attached to the impactor end.
Device for inserting a surgical implant
A device for forcefully inserting a surgical implant in a recipient bone by impaction, comprising an impactor (10) that exerts an impaction force on the implant and is associated with at least one sensor (12). The sensor (12) measures a value from among the exerted impaction force and the deformation of the impactor (10) and provides a measurement signal representing the temporal variation of said value during an impact. The sensor (12) is connected to a processing unit (30) that is configured to compute, on the basis of the temporal variation of said value during the impact, an indicator representing the level of contact between the implant and the recipient bone. The indicator corresponds to the duration separating the instant corresponding to the first maximum amplitude peak of the measurement signal from the instant corresponding to the second maximum amplitude peak of the measurement signal. The implant can be a femoral rod (2).
Device and system for facilitating insertion of a bone treatment device
A device includes an outer sleeve of flexible material forming an outer conduit extending longitudinally therethrough for the insertion of a bone treatment device (“BTD”) to target sites within a living body. A distal opening of the outer conduit is open so that, when the outer sleeve is in a desired position within the body, BTD is inserted through the outer conduit exits the outer sleeve adjacent to a target portion of a bone. The device also includes an inner sleeve received within the outer sleeve and defining an inner conduit within the outer conduit to form a protective covering. The inner sleeve is split longitudinally. Portions of the inner sleeve on opposite sides of the split are coupled to one another so that a diameter of the inner conduit is adjustable in response to forces exerted thereon by one of BTD and tissues surrounding the outer sleeve.
JOINT REPLACEMENT APPARATUS
Apparatus (20) for performing a joint replacement procedure comprising: a vibrator (50) configured to be coupled to a stem (120) and be excited stem out from the canal.
Set of tools for installing an implant
A set of tools for installation of a stem implant into a bone comprises a stem-shaped priming tool (1) having a distal tip (32) and a plurality of cutting teeth (31) along a length thereof and a plurality of stem-shaped broaches (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) of different size. Each of the broaches have a distal tip and a plurality of cutting teeth along a length thereof. The priming tool (1) is shorter than, has more cutting teeth (31) per unit length, and has a sharper distal tip (32) than the smallest broach.
SURGICAL SYSTEM FOR OSTEOSYNTHESIS OF FEMORAL FRACTURES
A surgical system for osteosynthesis of femoral fractures, individual parts of such system, and a related surgical procedure is provided. Two different osteosynthesis methods are combined: the intramedullary hip screw for hip fractures and the retrograde femoral nail for femoral shaft fractures. The system includes a new jig for the insertion of the retrograde intramedullary nail and the femoral neck screw. The surgical system makes it possible to osteosynthesize obese patients with trochanteric hip fractures in a safer and improved controlled surgery with the aim of reducing complications to this type of surgery.
Minimally invasive hip arthroplasty techniques and apparatus
A minimally invasive hip arthroplasty technique involves intramedullary insertion of an elongate femoral broach into a femur. The broach has a superior lateromedial transverse bore. A reaming rod is then located through the transverse bore and the neck of the femur. A cutting head is coupled to a distal end of the reaming rod via an incision. An orthogonal drive arm of an arthroplasty jig may also be inserted behind the cutting head to press the cutting head to ream the acetabulum while the reaming rod rotates the cutting head.
SURGICAL EXTRACTOR
A surgical extractor including a second arm having a proximal end and a distal end, and a first arm having a proximal end for attachment to an extraction device. The first arm additionally has a distal end for attachment to a first modular jaw. The first arm further includes a transverse opening having fastener structure configured to releasably retain an extraction impactor or an extraction device connector. The surgical extractor additionally includes a link pivotably connected to the first and second arms, the link having a distal end for attachment to a second modular jaw.
Systems, apparatuses, and methods for correcting a bone defect
An implant having a unitary body includes an intramedullary portion and an extramedullary portion. The intramedullary portion is sized and structured to be received within an intramedullary canal of a first bone and defines a longitudinal axis. The extramedullary portion includes a surface defining an axis that is disposed at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis. An aperture defined along the extramedullary portion is sized and configured to receive a fastener therein for coupling the extramedullary portion of the implant to a second bone.
Implant extractor assembly and method of implant extraction
An implant extractor assembly that includes a handle, and a mount connectable to the handle. The mount includes a main body, a quick connect about a proximal end of the main body, and an L-shaped connector about a distal end of the main body. The L-shaped connector includes a through hole having a longitudinal axis transverse to a longitudinal axis of the main body.
