SET OF TOOLS FOR INSTALLING AN IMPLANT
A set of tools for installation of a stem implant into a bone comprises a stem-shaped priming tool (1) having a distal tip (32) and a plurality of cutting teeth (31) along a length thereof and a plurality of stem-shaped broaches (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) of different size. Each of the broaches have a distal tip (32) and a plurality of cutting teeth (31) along a length thereof. The priming tool (1) is shorter than, has more cutting teeth (31) per unit length, and has a sharper distal tip (32) than the smallest broach.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTRAMEDULLARY NAIL IMPLANTATION
Intramedullary nails, aiming guide assemblies, and methods. The aiming guide assembly can include an aiming guide having a collet and a connection bolt configured to engage a connection bolt driver. The connection bolt may be self-retaining and engage with the connection bolt driver in a manner to prevent unintentional disengagement.
Instruments and method for use in disassembling implants
An orthopaedic surgical instrument for use in disassembling an orthopaedic prosthesis includes a main component, a rod, and a spindle. The main component has a housing and an elongated body extending from the housing with a passageway is defined in the elongated body. The rod has an elongated shaft, with a greater length than the elongated body, extending from the head of the rod and configured to pass through the main component. The spindle threads into the housing to move the rod along a longitudinal axis.
Intramedullary fixation nail and method of use
Disclosed is an intramedullary nail comprising a shaft having a length, a constant diameter, an exterior bone contacting surface, a leading (or distal) end and a trailing (or proximal) end, wherein the leading end is progressively tapered and comprises a well or cup, adapted to receive the tip of a standard K-wire, the trailing end comprises a driving fitting adapted for attachment to a driving tool for insertion of the nail into the prepared bone, the trailing end may optionally include an internal thread that can be used to secure the nail to a drill guide which can also function as an insertion handle, and the nail's shaft may also optionally be equipped with threaded and/or unthreaded cross-drilled holes for insertion of unicortical locking screws and bone screws, respectively, once the nail is placed as desired.
CANNULATED, MODULAR FEMORAL BROACH AND SURGICAL INSTRUMENT HANDLE
An orthopaedic surgical instrument assembly includes a surgical reamer, a cannulated broach, and an instrument handle. The broach includes a bore sized to slide over a shaft of the reamer. The handle attaches to the broach and also includes a bore sized to slide over a shaft of the reamer. A modular broach assembled from a number of broach segments may be used. Methods associated with the surgical instrument assembly are also disclosed.
ORTHOPAEDIC BROACH EXTRACTION TOOL
An apparatus, system, and method for extracting an orthopaedic broach from a bone of a patient comprises an orthopaedic broach extraction tool having a pair of jaws that are operable to secure the orthopaedic broach extraction tool to the orthopaedic broach. Once secured, the orthopaedic broach extraction tool can be used to facilitate extraction of the orthopaedic broach from the patient's bone using, for example, a reverse impaction tool.
Flexible Intramedullary Device Tether
A tether for an implantable bone device, the tether including a retention portion for holding the implantable bone device in place, wherein the retention portion comprises a recess configured to receive a protruding proximate end of the device when the device is positioned inside a bone, wherein the recess is open at a first end and closed at a second end; and a fastening portion for affixing the tether to the bone, wherein the fastening portion comprises one or more through fastener openings, wherein each through fastener opening is configured to receive a bone fastener, wherein the fastening portion is adjustable, and wherein the fastening portion is shaped to be less thick that a height of the retention portion.
Femoral nail with enhanced bone conforming geometry
A femoral nail includes a proximal section, a distal section remote from the proximal section, and an intermediate section disposed between the proximal section and distal section and having first and second curved portions. The first curved portion is positioned closer to the proximal section than the second curved portion. The second curved portion is curved in a first plane, and the first curved portion is curved in the first plane and a second and third plane.
Method for preparing implantable device for use
An apparatus including a sterilizable tray having a base and at least one fixture connected to the tray adapted for removably securing an implant insertion device to the tray. The tray can be free of a first wall portion for permitting the proximal end of an implantable device to axially align with the end of the implant insertion device for coupling to the implant insertion device and can be free of a second wall portion for permitting a tool to axially align with the end of the implant insertion device so as to threadedly couple the implant insertion device to the implantable device. Related methods and apparatus are provided.
SYSTEMS, APPARATUSES, AND METHODS FOR CORRECTING A BONE DEFECT
An implant having a unitary body includes an intramedullary portion and an extramedullary portion. The intramedullary portion is sized and structured to be received within an intramedullary canal of a first bone and defines a longitudinal axis. The extramedullary portion includes a surface defining an axis that is disposed at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis. An aperture defined along the extramedullary portion is sized and configured to receive a fastener therein for coupling the extramedullary portion of the implant to a second bone.
