An intramedullary pin includes a main body having a proximal boundary and a distal boundary; a curved extension having a degree of curvature of at least 1°, the curved extension being in direct contact with the distal boundary; a distal cap having a cylindrical portion and a rounded portion, the cylindrical portion being in direct contact with the curved extension; a grip element having at least one contour, the grip element being in direct contact with the proximal boundary; and a proximal cap having a flat surface, the proximal cap being in direct contact with the grip element. Also disclosed is a clamp that includes a handle, two blades, a pivot, and a plurality of grasping elements including a notch, at least one protrusion, and a groove, where one or more grasping elements have a contour that is structurally complementary to the grip element in the intramedullary pin. A method of immobilizing a bone fracture using the intramedullary pin and/or clamp is also disclosed.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTRAMEDULLARY NAIL IMPLANTATION

Intramedullary nails, systems, and methods. The intramedullary nail may include a generally elongate body extending from a first, distal end to a second, proximal end. The distal end may include one or more openings configured to receive one or more bone anchors that extend transversely through the distal end intramedullary nail, and thereby configured to secure the distal end of the nail. The proximal end may also include one or more openings configured to receive one or more bone anchors that extend transversely through the proximal end of the intramedullary nail, and thereby configured to secure the proximal end of the nail.

In some embodiments, the proximal end may further include a cross-locking feature, which includes a second bone anchor that interlocks with a first bone anchor, for example, for enhanced bone purchase and bony fixation.

Strike instrument for intramedullary nail

In one embodiment, a strike instrument that couples to an insertion handle of an intramedullary nail has a shaft that extends along a shaft axis, and an abutment that extends outward relative to the shaft. The abutment is rotationally fixed to the shaft such that the shaft can rotate the abutment between a first orientation, where the abutment can be removed or inserted into the insertion handle, and a second orientation, where the abutment forms an interference with the insertion handle that prevents the abutment from being removed from the handle. The strike instrument includes a strike surface that can transfer an impaction force to the insertion handle, and a lock that engages the insertion handle so as to prevent the abutment from rotating from the second orientation to the first orientation after the abutment is rotated within the insertion handle from the first orientation to the second orientation.

Implant extractor

An implant extractor including a shaft body and a telescoping push rod extending from the shaft body. An adjustor is engaged with the telescoping push rod for adjusting a length of the telescoping push rod. A support arm extends laterally away from the shaft body and a jaw assembly extends from the support arm. The jaw assembly includes a jaw moveable between a locking position and an unlocking position, and a rocker arm operatively engaged with the telescoping push rod and the jaw. The implant extractor provides a line of force spaced from and substantially parallel to an implant to be extracted. As a consequence, there is substantial clearance for an extension handle such as a C-frame or the like which is oftentimes needed to dislodge the implant from surrounding bone. In addition, the implant extractor is capable of gripping a wide range of sizes of hip stem implant trunnions.

Water-soluble sticker for marking glassware
20210343190 · 2021-11-04 ·

At parties and other social gatherings, drinks are typically served in non-descript glassware. As a result, patrons may be unable to distinguish their glass from others once they are set down on a table. Unintentionally swapping glasses can be unsanitary and wasteful (increasing costs for the host of the event). To solve these problems, the inventors have created an easy way for people to mark their glassware with individualized stickers that are easy to remove at the conclusion of a gathering.

The invention is water-soluble stickers that are designed around the theme of the gathering. Guests select from a set of unique stickers and adhere one to their glass—they work on all glassware (even without stems). At the end of the gathering, the host can easily remove the drink markers by running the glassware under water or by placing them in the dishwasher as they normally would.

IMPLANT AND METHOD FOR LONG BONE FIXATION
20230285058 · 2023-09-14 ·

An implant and method for fixation of long bones. The implant provides rotational, longitudinal, and bending stability. The implant comprises one or more elongated members that span the intramedullary cavity of a long bone, a distal tip that expands radially relative to the long axis of the implant, and a locking mechanism at the proximal end of the implant.

Press Fit Stem
20230277226 · 2023-09-07 ·

A method of implanting a medical implant includes resecting a long bone along a shaft of the bone so as to form a resected surface and remove a metaphysis of the bone. A tapered bore is reamed through the resected surface of the long bone and into an intramedullary canal thereof. A tapered portion of a stem of a medical implant is fully seated within the tapered bore so as to form a press-fit between the tapered portion of the stem and the long bone and so that a collar disposed at an end of the stem is offset from the resected surface so as to form a gap between the resected surface and the collar.

SELF-RETAINING NAIL TO INSERTION HANDLE INTERFACE

An implant insertion assembly including an insertion handle extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the distal end including a recessed portion, an outer wall of the recessed portion having a first shape about a perimeter thereof and including an engagement mechanism. The implant insertion assembly also includes an implant extending from a distal end to a proximal end including an opening configured to receive the recessed portion of the insertion handle, the opening having a second shape configured to mechanically interlock with the outer wall of the recessed portion when the recessed portion is inserted therein to transmit torque from the insertion handle to the implant, the proximal end including a receiving structure in a wall thereof, the receiving structure being positioned and oriented to receive the engagement mechanism to removably lock the insertion handle to the implant in the axial direction.
