MULTIPLE VACUUM DEVICE FOR MEDICAL FIXTURE PLACEMENT
The present invention includes devices and methods for pacing contact, lead, conduit or other medical fixture placement in tissues or organs. The invention features an articulating multiple suction foot device, comprising an inner vacuum conduit and foot slidingly contained within an outer vacuum conduit and foot, with the inner vacuum conduit and foot configured to extend beyond the outer vacuum suction foot, and to be further articulated once extended; as well as a separate tissue or waste removal vacuum assembly that extends within the inner vacuum conduit to the inner vacuum foot to remove cut tissue prior to its advancement beyond the outer vacuum suction foot. The device is configured to permit the placement foot, such as a suction foot, to articulate to a desired position with respect to the target tissue, while the pacing contact, lead, fluid conduit or other medical fixture is releasably attached to the placement foot to permit it to be released from the placement foot after stabilization on the target tissue site.
COLPOTOMY SYSTEM FOR TOTAL LAPAROSCOPIC HYSTERECTOMY
A colpotomy system includes a surgical instrument having a cutting element and a receiver at a distal end thereof and a uterine instrument. The uterine instrument has a handle operably coupled to a shaft having a balloon at a distal end thereof, the shaft extending through a retaining member to access a surgical site, the retaining member including a plurality of transmitters for transmitting at least one signal. A distance between the cutting element of the surgical instrument and one end of the retaining member of the uterine instrument is calculated to determine whether the cutting element is within a predetermined operating zone.
SINGLE INSTRUMENT ELECTROSURGERY APPARATUS AND ITS METHOD OF USE
A surgical instrument includes a body extending along a longitudinal axis between opposite proximal and distal end surfaces. The distal end surface includes a first cavity and a second cavity. The first cavity includes a first light bulb disposed therein. The second cavity includes a second light bulb disposed therein. A shaft includes opposite proximal and distal ends. The proximal end is coupled to the body. A blade is coupled to the distal end. The first light bulb is an ultraviolet (UV) light bulb and the second light bulb is configured to emit visible light. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.
BIPOLAR TOOL FOR SEPARATING TISSUE ADHESIONS OR TUNNELING
A bipolar tunneling tool is configured to separate tissue adhesions and tunnel. The bipolar tunneling tool includes a handle, a tunneling shaft, a return electrode, an optical window, an active electrode, and an insulative housing. The tunneling shaft extends from the handle. The return electrode is disposed proximate a distal end of the tunneling shaft. The optical window is disposed proximate the distal end of the tunneling shaft, the optical window defining a channel. The active electrode is at least partially disposed within the channel. The active electrode is configured to dissect a tissue and cauterize the tissue. The insulative housing is configured to electrically insulate the active electrode from the return electrode.
Jaw, blade and gap manufacturing for surgical instruments with small jaws
An endoscopic forceps includes an elongate shaft defining an instrument axis. An end effector includes first and second jaw members each supporting an opposed sealing surface for clamping tissue. At least one of the jaw members is movable relative to the instrument axis such that the jaw members are movable between a first spaced-apart configuration and a second closed configuration for grasping tissue. A cutting instrument includes a reciprocating blade translatable relative to the sealing surfaces to sever tissue clamped between the jaw members. The reciprocating blade contacts an undersurface of at least one of the jaw members when the jaw members are in the second configuration to define a gap distance between the sealing surfaces. A handle adjacent the proximal end of the elongate shaft is operable to induce motion in the jaw members, and an actuator is operable to selectively translate the reciprocating blade.
Forceps jaw flanges
Forceps can include a drive pin, an outer tube, a first jaw, a second jaw, and an inner shaft. The outer tube can extend along a longitudinal axis. The first jaw can be pivotably connected to the outer tube. The first jaw can include a first flange that can be located at a proximal portion of the first jaw. The first flange can include a first chamfered edge configured to limit extension of the first flange laterally beyond an outer surface of the outer tube when the first jaw is in a closed position. The inner shaft can be located within the outer tube and can extend along the longitudinal axis.
Electrosurgical electrode and method of manufacturing same
An electrosurgical device coated an epoxy modified rigid silicone powder coating. This coating is applied to the surfaces of an electrosurgical device minimize the build-up of charred tissue (i.e., eschar) on the surfaces of the electrosurgical device.
Electrosurgical (RF) medical instruments for cutting and coagulating tissue
An electrosurgical device is disclosed. The electrosurgical device includes a handle, a shaft extending distally from the handle, and an end effector coupled to a distal end of the shaft. The end effector comprises a first electrode and a second electrode. The second electrode includes a first position and a second position. The second electrode is configured to move from the first position to the second position when a force is applied to the end effector by a tissue section. The first electrode and the second electrode define a treatment area when the second electrode is in the second position.
Electrosurgical device power cable
An electrosurgical device: (a) power cable comprising: (i) a primary lead that connects to a first pole of an AC power source and (ii) one or more auxiliary leads; wherein the power cable includes a dual core having the primary lead on a first side and the one or more auxiliary leads on a second side with a web being located between the first side and the second side.
HAND SWITCHED COMBINED ELECTROSURGICAL MONOPOLAR AND BIPOLAR DEVICE
An electrosurgical instrument connectivity system providing monopolar and bipolar plugs each having a plurality of conductors which allow for use of combination monopolar/bipolar electrosurgical devices with industry standard electrosurgical generator outlets.
