Ultrapolar electrosurgery blade and pencil for use in ESU monopolar and bipolar modes
An ultrapolar electrosurgery blade and an ultrapolar electrosurgery pencil that can be used in both monopolar and bipolar modes for cutting and coagulating tissue. The ultrapolar electrosurgery blade includes a non-conductive member with opposing planar sides, a cutting end with a sharp cutting edge, and an opposite non-cutting end, an active electrode located on one of the opposing planar sides of the non-conductive member, and a return electrode located on the other opposing planar side of the non-conductive member.
Arthroscopic devices and methods
An electrosurgical probe includes an elongated shaft assembly having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis. A distal housing is mounted on the distal end of the shaft and optionally includes a laterally open window where a plane of the window is generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. An interior channel extends axially through the shaft and further through an interior of the housing to the window in the housing. An electrode member with a serrated or other elongated edge may extend longitudinally across the window and may be configured to reciprocate the elongated edge longitudinally relative to the window.
METHODS FOR CARRYING OUT A CARDIAC PROCEDURE
A method for carrying out a cardiac procedure includes: a. via an inferior artery, advancing a perforating tip of a perforation device towards an aorta; b. positioning the perforating tip adjacent a wall of the aorta, proximate a left pulmonary artery; and c. advancing the perforating tip to perforate through the wall of the aorta and then through a wall of the left pulmonary artery, to create a pathway between the aorta and the left pulmonary artery.
Robotic Arm System with Gear-Driven End-Effector Assembly
Embodiments relate to robotic arm assemblies. The robotic arm assembly includes an end-effector assembly. The end-effector assembly includes an instrument assembly. The instrument assembly includes an instrument and instrument driven portion. The elongated body includes an instrument central axis. The instrument driven portion includes a first central axis. The instrument driven portion is secured to a proximal end of the instrument in such a way that, when the instrument driven portion is driven to rotate, the instrument rotates relative to the first central axis. The end-effector assembly includes an instrument drive assembly. The instrument drive assembly includes an instrument drive portion. The instrument drive portion includes a second central axis. The instrument drive portion is configured to drive the instrument driven portion to rotate the distal end of the instrument relative to the first central axis. The second central axis intersects with and orthogonal to the first central axis.
Electrical isolation of electrosurgical instruments
A surgical tool that includes a drive housing, an elongate shaft that extends from the drive housing, and an end effector arranged at a distal end of the elongate shaft and having a jaw and a jaw holder that secures the jaw. A wrist couples the end effector to the elongate shaft and includes a distal clevis having an axle that rotatably mounts the jaw holder to the distal clevis. An electrical conductor extends from the drive housing and supplies electrical energy to the jaw via a supply conductor. At least one of the jaw holder and the axle is made of a non-conductive material that insulates the distal clevis from the electrical energy provided to the jaw.
TREATMENT INSTRUMENT
A treatment instrument that includes a first grasping member having a first grasping surface and a second grasping member having a second grasping surface. The treatment instrument includes a cover that covers at least a part of a region of at least one of the first and second grasping members other than the first and second grasping surfaces, and a pair of electrodes that are arranged on at least one of the first and second grasping surfaces to function as a bipolar electrode. An opening is provided in the cove, and a monopolar electrode arranged to overlap with the opening and is exposed to an outside of the treatment instrument through the opening.
Surgical instrument
A surgical instrument according to one or more embodiments may include: a base; an end effector; an elongated element to drive the end effector; a flexible shaft including a distal end coupled with the end effector; a winding member provided to the base rotatably about a rotational axis orthogonal to the second surface such that the elongated element from the flexible shaft is wound around the winding member; a drive receiving member rotatable about a rotational axis orthogonal to the second surface, to receive drive for rotating the winding member; a first guide pulley; and a second guide pulley. The first guide pulley guides the elongated element drawn from the shaft toward the second guide pulley along the rotational axis of the winding member, and the second guide pulley guides the elongated element from the first guide pulley toward the winding member in a direction intersecting the rotational axis.
ARTHROSCOPIC DEVICES AND METHODS
An arthroscopic or other surgical system includes a handpiece and a probe. The handpiece carries a motor drive, and the probe has a proximal hub and an elongate shaft which extends about a longitudinal axis to a working end of the probe. The hub is configured for detachably coupling to the handpiece, and the motor drive is configured to couple to a rotating drive coupling in the hub when the hub is coupled to the handpiece. A first magnetic component is carried by the hub, and a second magnetic component is coupled to rotate with the rotating drive coupling.
AESTHETIC TREATMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Systems and methods for aesthetic treatment of skin including an apparatus that applies or a method involving separating tissue to eliminate or reduce the appearance of unwanted features. In one approach, an interventional tool is placed between tissue layers to engage and treat connecting tissue layers.
MONOPOLAR L-HOOK ELECTRODE WITH VARIED CROSS-SECTIONS
An electrosurgical hook electrode includes an intermediate portion (36), a hook portion (38) connected to the intermediate portion (36) at a bend angle, and a coating (40) disposed over the intermediate portion (36) and the hook portion (38), the coating (40) having a varying thickness.
