20220192744 · 2022-06-23 ·

Disclosed embodiments include apparatuses, systems, and methods for positioning electrodes using a single control surface. In an illustrative embodiment, an apparatus includes an actuator shaft defining a lumen through which a primary electrode and a secondary electrode are linearly movable. A primary actuator is movably couplable with the actuator shaft and a primary electrode with the primary actuator being configured to extend and retract the primary electrode. A secondary actuator is movably couplable with the primary actuator and a secondary electrode with the secondary actuator being configured to extend and retract the secondary electrode. An actuator controller is configured to move along the shaft in a first direction to engage and motivate the primary actuator and is further configured to move along the shaft in a second direction to engage and motivate the secondary actuator. The primary actuator and the secondary actuator are sequentially manipulatable using only the actuator controller.

DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR TARGETED ABLATION

A method of surgery includes determining a target zone of tissue, adjusting settings of a treatment device based on the target zone of tissue, positioning the treatment device adjacent the target zone of tissue, deploying the treatment device such that the treatment device defines a deployed configuration in accordance with the settings, and treating the target zone of tissue using the treatment device. An ablation system includes a housing, an elongated body extending distally from the housing, and a plurality of probes deployable from the elongated body. At least one control is configured to adjust settings associated with at least one probe such that, upon deployment of the plurality of probes, the plurality of probes define a deployed configuration in accordance with the settings.

SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH FLEXIBLE END EFFECTOR
20220175412 · 2022-06-09 ·

A surgical instrument for removing biological tissue during a surgical procedure comprises an elongate shaft and an end effector connected to the elongate shaft, the end effector including an edge configured to remove tissue, wherein curvature of one or both of the elongate shaft and end effector is adjustable to position the edge along a tissue surface when the curvature of the one or both of the elongate shaft and end effector is adjusted. A method of incising target tissue from an anatomic wall comprises inserting a shaft of a surgical instrument into an anatomic chamber of a patient, positioning a tissue-removal device connected to the shaft proximate the target tissue, deflecting an axis of the tissue-removal device relative to a central axis of the shaft, and shaving a surface of the anatomic wall by moving the tissue-removal device in a deflected state along the target tissue.

Electrosurgical snare

An electrosurgical snare, e.g. suitably sized for insertion down the instrument channel of an endoscope, arranged to radiate microwave frequency energy (e.g. having a frequency greater than 1 GHz) from an elongate conductive element within an area encircled by a retractable loop. The elongate conductive element and retractable loop may be independently slidable relative to a snare base at a distal end of a sleeve to provide an appropriate device configuration. By controlling the shape of the emitted microwave field, the risk of collateral thermal damage can be reduced.

Tissue cutting systems and methods

The disclosure provides various embodiments of systems to facilitate the cutting of luminal tissue structures percutaneously.

METHODS FOR TREATING HYPERTENSION AND REDUCING BLOOD PRESSURE WITH FORMATION OF FISTULA

Described here are methods of treating a patient having hypertension comprising advancing a catheter into a deep ulnar vein or an artery, wherein the catheter comprises an electrode. The methods further comprise forming a fistula between the deep ulnar vein and the artery with the electrode to reduce a blood pressure of the patient.

Electrosurgical Device for Creating a Channel through a Region of Tissue and Methods of Use thereof

A method and apparatus are disclosed for an RF guidewire for applying RF energy to create a channel through a region of tissue within a patient's body. The RF guidewire is configured to have a hydrophilic coating disposed thereon to reduce friction to facilitate traversal through vasculature while maintaining its mechanical, electrical and thermal properties. The RF guidewire includes an electrode tip at a distal end of the guidewire for delivering the energy and an electrically insulative thermal shield between the electrode tip and electrical insulation for thermally protecting the electrical insulation from heat produced by delivering the energy. Some embodiments include electrical insulation inside of the electrically insulative thermal shield.

TREATMENT TOOL AND MANIPULATING METHOD FOR TREATMENT TOOL

The treatment tool including: a tube including a lumen extending in a longitudinal axis of the tube; a wire inserted into the lumen and extending along the longitudinal axis of the tube; a first handle connected to a proximal end portion of the wire; a second handle attached to a proximal end portion of the tube. In a first configuration, the first handle is rotatable relative to the second handle about a rotation axis. In a second configuration, the first handle is non-rotatable relative to the second handle when an applied force applied to the first handle in a rotation direction is equal to or less than a predetermined amount. The first handle is rotatable relative to the second handle when the applied force is greater than the predetermined amount.
