The holder 112 and the rotary knob 9 are integrally coupled with each other, and are positioned respectively in a radial direction about the longitudinal axis Ax1 with respect to the handle 6. One of the holder 112 and the rotary knob 9 is positioned in a direction along the longitudinal axis Ax1 with respect to the handle 6.
INSTRUMENT END EFFECTOR WITH MULTIFUNCTION MEMBER AND RELATED DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An instrument may comprise a shaft and an end effector comprising a jaw mechanism coupled to the shaft. The jaw mechanism may comprise a first jaw member and a second jaw member movable relative to one another by pivoting about a pivot axis between an open configuration of the jaw mechanism and a closed configuration of the jaw mechanism. The second jaw member may be rotatable about a roll axis of the second jaw member between at least two orientations, the roll axis of the second jaw member being transverse to the pivot axis. In a first orientation of the at least two orientations, the jaw mechanism is configured to perform a first function. In a second orientation of the at least two orientations, the jaw mechanism is configured to perform a second function differing from the first function.
Electrosurgical instrument with trigger driven cutting function
An electrosurgical instrument (1) includes a first shaft member (110) pivotably coupled to a second shaft member (120), and a trigger (184) disposed on the second shaft member (120). The first and second shaft members (110,120) respectively include first and second handle members (130,140), and first and second jaw members (150,160). The first and second shaft members (110,120) define a longitudinal axis extending through a pivot, and first and second pivot axes that are substantially orthogonal to each other and the longitudinal axis. At least one of the first or second handle members (130,140) is pivotable about the first pivot axis to move the first and second jaw members (150,160) to an open position, a grasping position, or a sealing position. The trigger (184) is movable to pivot at least one of the first or second shaft members (110,120) about the second pivot axis to laterally displace the first and second jaw members (150,160) relative to each other to a cutting position.
Controlling activation of an ultrasonic surgical instrument according to the presence of tissue
Various systems and methods for selectively controlling the activation of an ultrasonic surgical instrument according to the presence of tissue within an end effector are disclosed. A control circuit can be configured to determine whether tissue is present within the end effector and permit activation of the ultrasonic transducer at a power level according to whether tissue is present within the end effector. In some aspects, the control circuit can be configured to automatically activate the ultrasonic transducer in response to tissue being detected within the end effector.
Endoscopic device
The present application provides an endoscopic device having at least one shaft, which has at least one portion deflectable in at least one plane, and having at least one deflection mechanism, which is configured to deflect the deflectable portion and includes, arranged in series, at least one first connection member and at least one second connection member interacting for a deflection with the first connection member. The first connection member is formed at least partially from a first material, and the second connection member is formed at least partially from a second material, of which the elasticity differs from that of the first material.
SURGICAL DEVICES WITH MOISTURE CONTROL
A surgical device including a handle assembly, an elongated portion, an end effector, a drive shaft, and a wick is disclosed. The wick is disposed within an outer sleeve of the elongated portion and is made from a fibrous material. The wick is configured to transfer moisture from a first portion of the wick to a second portion of the wick.
ENERGY BASED SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS AND SYSTEMS
A surgical system includes a housing, an ultrasonic transducer supported by the housing, an end effector assembly distally-spaced from the housing, a clamp lever, and a sensor. The end effector assembly includes an ultrasonic blade operably coupled to the ultrasonic transducer for receiving ultrasonic energy produced by the ultrasonic transducer, and a jaw member pivotable relative to the blade from an open position towards a clamping position for clamping tissue between the jaw member and the blade and imparting a clamping force to the clamped tissue. The clamp lever is operably coupled to the housing and the jaw member such that actuation of the clamp lever relative to the housing pivots the jaw member towards the blade. The sensor is configured to sense whether the clamp lever is sufficiently actuated so as to impart the clamping force to the clamped tissue.
UNIVERSAL MOTOR CARTRIDGE FOR REPOSABLE SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A universal motor cartridge for a surgical instrument includes a reusable housing having a distal face and a bottom surface and configured to securely engage a disposable surgical instrument. Couplers disposed on the distal face are adapted to engage couplers disposed on the surgical instrument upon engagement of the housing. A plurality of electrical interfaces on the bottom surface are adapted to electrically engage corresponding electrical interfaces on the surgical instrument, such that, upon activation of each switch disposed on the surgical instrument, the corresponding electrical interface on the surgical instrument communicates with the corresponding electrical interface on the bottom surface of the housing, which, in turn, actuates the corresponding coupler to engage and actuate the respective coupler on the surgical instrument causing the surgical instrument to rotate/articulate a shaft, open/close a pair of jaw members, deform staples, move a knife or energize an end effector.
