Dual Irrigating Bipolar Forceps
Bipolar electrosurgical forceps are provided with dual irrigating tubes that deliver irrigating liquid to the opposed surfaces of the tips of the forceps to prevent the sticking of body tissue to the tips. To reduce the manufacturing costs of the forceps and enable the forceps to be single use, disposable forceps, each tube of the dual irrigating tools is a plastic tube adhered along one of the opposing surfaces of the pair of forceps arms. Each tube also has a flat nozzle at the distal end of the tube that disburses irrigating liquid across the opposed surfaces of the forceps arm distal and tips.
ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A handheld electrosurgical instrument is disclosed, which comprises an upper lobe and a lower lobe, which join at and extend from a narrow neck region substantially perpendicular to one another. The instrument typically includes a surgical tool extending from a distal portion of the upper lobe. The tool may be modular, and the instrument may accommodate any of a plurality of different types and configurations of surgical tools.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A multifunctional surgical instrument (1) is provided. The multifunctional surgical instrument (1) comprises a proximal portion (13) and two legs (14), each leg comprising a distal end (11, 12), wherein a default position of the multifunctional surgical instrument is an open position, wherein the distal ends (11, 12) of the legs (14) do not meet in the open position, characterized in that each leg (14) comprises an aspiration half-channel (26, 27), the proximal portion (13) comprises an aspiration connection (29) and at least one of the distal ends (11, 12) comprises at least one aspiration orifice (28), wherein the two half-channels (26, 27) are configured to form an air-tight and water-tight continuous channel (25) connecting the at least one aspiration orifice (28) to the aspiration connection (29) when the multifunctional surgical instrument is in a fully closed position and are configured to open the aspiration channel (25) when the multifunctional surgical instrument is not in the fully closed position.
SURGICAL MULTI-TOOL AND METHOD OF USE
Surgical tool are disclosed that include a first tip and a second tip. The first tip and the second tip can have a first configuration, an intermediate configuration, and a second configuration. In the first configuration the tool operates as forceps and in the second configuration the tool operates as scissors. In the intermediate configuration the tool operates as a probe. The tips can be brought together to transition between the first configuration and the intermediate configuration. The tips can be rotated to transition between the intermediate configuration and the second configuration. Method are disclosed that include the step of providing a tool having a first tip extending distally and a second tip extending distally, moving at least one of the first tip and the second tip toward the other of the first tip and the second tip, and rotating the first tip and the second tip.
TEMPERATURE MONITORING BIPOLAR FORCEPS
A temperature monitoring bipolar forceps may include a first forceps arm and a second forceps arm. The first forceps arm may include a first channel, a first conductor tip, and a first thermocouple housing. The second forceps arm may include a second channel, a second conductor tip, and a second thermocouple housing. A first thermocouple wire may include a first thermocouple and a second thermocouple wire may include a second thermocouple. The first thermocouple wire may be disposed in the first channel wherein the first thermocouple is disposed in the first thermocouple housing. The second thermocouple wire may be disposed in the second channel wherein the second thermocouple is disposed in the second thermocouple housing. The first thermocouple may be configured to measure a temperature of the first conductor tip and the second thermocouple may be configured to measure a temperature of the second conductor tip.
ELECTRO-SURGICAL BIPOLAR FORCEPS
An electro-surgical bipolar forceps includes a first tip and a second tip, each having a body. The body has a distal end and a proximal end. The body has a first groove having a substantially planar base proximate the proximal end. A substantially planar face is proximate to the distal end of the tip body. The base and the face on each tip define planes that are approximately perpendicular with respect to each other. A tip assembly includes a tip and an engagement plug. When making the tip assembly, a planar surface on the engagement plug is aligned with the planar base of the groove in the tip. Then the tip is connected to the engagement plug.
