ANCHORING DEVICE FOR SOFT TISSUE REPAIR
Disclosed is a surgical device for soft tissue repair, including: a flexible anchor consisting of a textile braid forming a first arm and a second arm extending distally away from a vertex area; and at least one suture thread having a median portion placed near the vertex area and two strands passing through the braid transversely at several sites. The first strand passes through the braid alternately at two sites adjacent to the first arm and at two sites adjacent to the second arm, the sites passed through in sequence on the same arm moving away from the vertex zone. The second strand passes through the braid at least at two sites of the second arm, the sites passed through in sequence moving away from the vertex zone. The device is inserted into a hole made in a bone and assumes a compressed configuration after insertion.
Woven or braided tubular metal construct
Multi-filament microcables are used in place of the traditional monofilament wires as the constituent elements of a woven or braided band. This enhances the function and manufacturability of such bands for various applications, such as orthopaedic applications including sternotomy closures.
POINT-LOADING KNOTLESS FIXATION DEVICES
Surgical constructs and methods for soft tissue to bone repairs, without knot tying. The soft tissue repair constructs include a fixation device, a flexible strand, and a shuttle/pull device attached to the flexible strand and provided within the body of the fixation device. A splice is formed by pulling on the shuttle/pull device to allow desired tensioning of soft tissue to be fixated or repaired relative to the bone.
REINFORCEMENT INSERT FOR TISSUE GRAFT
Devices and methods for reinforcing tissue grafts are described herein. In one embodiment, an implant is described that includes a proximal end portion having a through-hole formed therein, a distal end portion, and a reinforcing insert disposed in the through-hole. The insert includes a proximal face, a distal face opposed to the proximal face, a first upper surface extending between the proximal and distal faces and having a generally convex shape that abuts against at least a portion of a sidewall of the through-hole, and a second lower surface extending between the proximal and distal faces and having a generally concave shape. The second lower surface and portions of the sidewall of the through-hole not abutted by the first upper surface form a reinforced through-hole of the implant.
Method for knotless fixation of tissue
A swivel suture anchor for knotless fixation of tissue. The suture anchor includes an anchor tip configured to capture suture, the anchor tip being rotatably received within a fixation device upon advancement of the fixation device over a shaft of the anchor tip. The anchor tip is configured to receive a suture to be anchor in bone without requiring suture knots. The anchor tip can be a conical metal tip which is self-punching and avoids the need for pre-drilling a hole in bone. The anchor tip includes a closed aperture to allow free sliding of a suture strand. The suture is secured in a hole in bone by inserting the anchor tip into bone, and advancing a fenestrated fixation device, such as a cannulated interference screw, over a shaft of the anchor tip.
Devices and methods for tissue graft fixation in glenohumeral instability repair
A surgical fastener comprising a generally flat, circular body and a generally cylindrical post fixedly coupled to a center of the body extending perpendicular to the body. Both of the body and the post include through holes configured for passage of a suture. A length of the post is selected to extend through both of a bone graft and at least a portion of bone for providing shear and/or anti-rotational support to the surgical fastener across a fracture line in the bone.
Method of tissue repair with surgical assembly
A method of tissue repair using a surgical assembly that includes the steps of assembling an implant and a driver, capturing tissue with the implant, installing the implant with the captured tissue in a socket or tunnel, advancing a tapered section of a set screw in the implant, thereby expanding the implant and fixing the implant with the captured tissue in the socket or tunnel, and releasing the driver from engagement with the set screw as the distal end of the set screw reaches the implant's closed end. A surgical assembly that includes an expandable implant having a hole with an entrance at a rear end of the implant and a closed end; a set screw, an implant insertion section, a driver engagement section, and a tapered section, where the implant insertion section is received in the hole of the implant, and a driver that is engaged with the set screw.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LIGAMENT GRAFT PREPARATION
Systems and methods for preparing a ligament graft for a ligament reconstruction procedure are provided. In general, the described techniques utilize a graft preparation system having a holder and a delivery suture assembly removably coupled thereto. The delivery suture assembly can include a spine coupled with an anchor suture configured to form a self-tightening knot used to position the assembly around a graft and a plurality of suture windings configured to be affixed to the graft when the assembly is deployed. The assembly is delivered to the graft using the holder and the sutures can be affixed to the graft without penetrating therethrough. The spine helps to evenly distribute the load among the windings compressing the graft which are thus are capable of withstanding increased loads. Thus, an improved, simplified, and time- and labor-saving approach to preparing ligament grafts is provided.
DRILL BIT AND SUBCORTICAL EXPANDING BONE ANCHOR FOR TENODESIS
A drill bit for bone surface preparation and creation of a shallow pilot hole and a bone anchor. The drill bit includes a shaft extending to a distal end, the distal end having a drill tip, a sharp point extending distally from the drill tip, and a stop extending around the shaft at the drill tip, the stop having one or more cutting edges and a diameter that is greater than a diameter of the shaft. The bone anchor includes a body having at least two opposing openings forming a window extending through the body, an expansion member having a pair of connected and spaced wings, the expansion member extending at least partially into the window in the body, and a fixation mechanism comprising an adjustable loop, the adjustable loop extending between the pair of connected and spaced wings in the window of the body.
TIGON MEDICAL BUTTON SYSTEM
Disclosed are improved methods, apparatus and/or systems for securing and/or anchoring tissue structures to bones, including unicortical soft tissue fixation.
