In vivo hydraulic fixation including bio-rivets using biocompatible expandable fibers
The disclosure describes implantable medical products, that include dry or partially hydrated biocompatible constructs comprising collagen fibers configured to expand in situ after implantation to frictionally engage a bone tunnel wall to thereby affix the construct in the bone tunnel.
WHIPSTITCHED GRAFT CONSTRUCT AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
A whip stitched graft construct and method of formation. The whip stitched graft construct includes a plurality of tendon strand regions or soft tissue grafts placed together so that at least a portion of the plurality of the tendon strand regions are stitched together by employing multiple suture passes placed according to a whip stitching technique. Preferably, the multiple suture passes start at about the mid length of the plurality of tendon strand regions and are advanced toward one of the free ends of the tendon strands. The whip stitched graft construct is provided with at least two regions, one region formed of at least a plurality of tendon strand regions tied and whip stitched together, and the other region formed of untied segments of the plurality of tendon strands.
Flipping-type graft fixation device and method with low flipping distance
A graft retention device has an elongated body with a first and second ends and a midpoint therebetween. A pair of elongated slots formed through the body defines a tang therebetween. A graft retention loop is disposed over the tang and is slidable therealong. A trailing line connects to the body adjacent the slots and extends therefrom through the graft retention loop toward the first end. Tension applied to the trailing line thus tends to urge the graft retention loop away from the first end and toward the midpoint.
TISSUE FIXATION SYSTEM WITH AUXILIARY PLATE
A tissue fixation system provides a primary fixation plate with a depending graft retention loop and a longer auxiliary fixation plate which fits to the primary fixation plate via upwardly projecting pegs which fit into suture holes in the primary fixation plate. The system has particular utility in cortical fixation procedures in which a graft channel is over-drilled and a longer fixation plate is indicated.
System and Method for Load Balancing in Knee Replacement Procedures
The present disclosure relates to a system and method of knee ligament balancing for knee replacement procedures. The disclosure provides a system of components to implant to achieve ligament balancing. In addition, instruments and methods are provided to achieve the desired balance of the ligaments before final fixation.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COUPLING ANATOMICAL FEATURES
A method of coupling a first portion of an anatomy to a second portion of the anatomy includes coupling first and second bones of the anatomy with a bone-tendon-bone implant. The bone-tendon-bone implant has a first bone end, a second bone end and a replacement tendon between the first and second bone ends. The first and second bone ends are positioned in corresponding first and second bores of the first and second bones. The first bone end is secured to the first bone with a first bone anchor. A second anchor coupled to the bone-tendon-bone implant is passed through and outside the second bore. The second anchor is coupled to an adjustable suture construct having two adjustable suture loops. Tensioning at least one of first and second ends of the adjustable suture construct tensions the replacement tendon and positions the first bone relative to the second bone.
Composite interference screws and drivers
The present disclosure relates to a delivery device and screw combination. The combination includes a delivery device comprising a handle and a shall coupled to the handle, the shaft including a proximal end, a distal end, a non-circular cannulation, and markings along a length of the shaft; an interference screw coupled to the delivery device comprising a proximal end and a distal end, the screw including threads extending in an open helical form from the proximal end to the distal end, a suture bridge located at a distal end of the screw and housed within a slot of the delivery device shaft, and a plurality of runners extending longitudinally along an interior of the screw, the runners housed within grooves of the delivery device shaft; and a suture disposed around the suture bridge, ends of the suture extending through the cannulation of the delivery device shaft.
ADJUSTABLE SUTURE BUTTON CONSTRUCT
An adjustable construct for fixation of a tendon or ligament graft in a tunnel. The construct comprises a flexible, adjustable loop connected to tissue (for example, graft, ligament or tendon). The adjustable loop may be integrated with an additional tissue supporting device (for example, a wedge or a plug). The tissue is secured within a bone socket/tunnel by adjusting the length of the flexible adjustable loop.
Corrective device for the positioning of a foot
A corrective device for the positioning of a foot is an apparatus used to treat foot drop. The apparatus includes a spring, a bone anchor assembly, and a tendon anchor assembly. The spring is used to prevent the foot from drooping downward. The spring includes a coil, a first spring coupler, and a second spring coupler. The first spring coupler is used to connect the coil to the bone anchor assembly. The bone anchor assembly anchors the apparatus to a human tibia. The second spring coupler is used to connect the coil to the tendon anchor assembly. The tendon anchor assembly is used to anchor the apparatus to one or more tendons in the foot. Because the coil is anchored above and below the ankle, rotations about the ankle may be limited by the coil.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COUPLING SOFT TISSUE TO A BONE
A method and apparatus for coupling a soft tissue implant into a locking cavity formed within a bone is disclosed. The apparatus includes a member to pull the soft tissue implant into a femoral tunnel. The member includes a suture having first and second ends which are passed through first and second openings associated with the longitudinal passage to form a pair of loops. A collapsible tube is positioned about the suture. Application of tension onto the suture construction causes retraction of the soft tissue implant into the femoral tunnel and the collapse of the tube to form an anchor.
