ADJUSTABLE INTRAOCULAR LENSES AND METHODS OF POST-OPERATIVELY ADJUSTING INTRAOCULAR LENSES
Disclosed are adjustable intraocular lenses and methods of adjusting intraocular lenses post-operatively. In one embodiment, an adjustable intraocular lens can comprise an optic portion and a peripheral portion. The peripheral portion can comprise a composite material comprising an energy absorbing constituent and a plurality of expandable components. A base power of the optic portion can be configured to change in response to an external energy directed at the composite material.
Alignment features that allow for a liquid filled layered stack to assemble
Apparatus and systems for an ophthalmic device having alignment features that aid assembly of a liquid filled layered stack are disclosed herein. An example apparatus may include first, second, and third optical elements arranged in a stack, with each optical element including alignment and separation features. The alignment and separation features may form an optic region and a dam region. The optic region encircles an optical axis of each of the optical elements. The dam region includes a first dam formed due to the first and second optical elements being in contact, and a second dam formed due to the second and third optical elements being in contact, wherein the dam region determines an optic region gap width.
Intraocular lenses with shape-changing optics
An intraocular lens (IOL) with a shape-changing optic is provided. The IOL includes an anterior face and/or a posterior face that is fabricated from a poly(dimethylsiloxane) elastomer having a durometer between about 30 Shore A to about 50 Shore A. A chamber is located between the anterior face and the posterior face and includes a silicone oil including diphenyl siloxane and dimethyl siloxane units. The silicone oil has a maximum viscosity of about 700 mm.sup.2/s at 25° C. and has a mean molecular weight of less than about 3,000 Daltons. An IOL is also provided that includes an anterior face and/or posterior face that is fabricated from a polysiloxane that is at least 99% poly(dimethylsiloxane) elastomer.
Intraocular lens including silicone oil
An intraocular lens (IOL) having an optical axis extending in an anterior-posterior direction and an equator extending in a plane substantially perpendicular to the optical axis is described. The IOL includes: an elastic anterior face located anterior to the equator; a posterior face located posterior to the equator, wherein the anterior face, the posterior face, or both comprises a poly(dimethylsiloxane) elastomer having a durometer between about 20 Shore A to about 50 Shore A; and a chamber located between the anterior face and the posterior face comprising a silicone oil comprising polysiloxanes comprising diphenyl siloxane and dimethyl siloxane units, the silicone oil having a maximum viscosity of about 800 cSt at 25° C.
SCLERAL FIXATION DEVICE FOR INTRAOCULAR LENS SUPPORT AND SURGICAL METHODS FOR THE INSERTION OF THE DEVICE
A scleral fixation device for intraocular lens support (Arrieta's Holder) including: a receptacle and a plurality of Arrieta's Supports from the receptacle to the sclera, and surgical methods of inserting the device.
Posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens
A posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens comprising a central optical part, a peripheral haptic part comprising a plurality of support elements arranged to lie on a ciliary zonule of an eye, and at least one flexible haptic comprising a reticulated distal region arranged to lay into a ciliary sulcus of the eye.
INTRAOCULAR LENS HAVING INCREASED OPTIC DIAMETER
Intraocular lens (IOL) designs include having an optic with an anterior surface and a posterior surface surrounded by an optic edge. In some examples, the IOL has a plurality of haptics, each attached to the optic at a gusset, where each gusset extends beyond the optic edge toward an optic center such that the gusset at least partially overlaps with the anterior surface of the optic. In some examples, the IOL includes a ring structure integral with the optic and surrounding the perimeter of the optic edge, the ring structure having a thickness and the optic edge having a thickness, the ring structure thickness greater than the optic edge thickness.
ADJUSTABLE INTRAOCULAR LENSES AND METHODS OF POST-OPERATIVELY ADJUSTING INTRAOCULAR LENSES
Disclosed are adjustable accommodating intraocular lenses and methods of adjusting accommodating intraocular lenses post-operatively. In one embodiment, an adjustable accommodating intraocular lens comprises an optic portion and a peripheral portion. At least one of the optic portion and the peripheral portion can be made in part of a composite material comprising an energy absorbing constituent and a plurality of expandable components.
