An accommodation-facilitating intraocular implant has: a ring sized to fit within a capsular lens bag of an eye; and a plurality of haptics angularly spaced around and radially extended from the ring. A multi-curve implantable accommodating intraocular lens has a convex anterior and concave posterior.
Intraocular lenses with customized add power
Intraocular lenses with a base optical power and a customized add power. The add power is customized based on at least one of ocular biometry of an individual, position of the intraocular lens in the eye and a preferred reading distance.
ADJUSTABLE INTRAOCULAR LENSES AND METHODS OF POST-OPERATIVELY ADJUSTING INTRAOCULAR LENSES
Disclosed are adjustable intraocular lenses and methods of adjusting intraocular lenses post-operatively. In one embodiment, an adjustable intraocular lens can comprise an optic portion and a peripheral portion. The peripheral portion can comprise a composite material comprising an energy absorbing constituent and a plurality of expandable components. A base power of the optic portion can be configured to change in response to an external energy directed at the composite material.
Light control devices and methods for regional variation of visual information and sampling
Exemplary light control devices and methods provide a regional variation of visual information and sampling (“V-VIS”) of an ocular field of view that improves or stabilizes vision, ameliorates a visual symptom, reduces the rate of vision loss, or reduces the progression of an ophthalmic or neurologic condition, disease, injury or disorder. The V-VIS devices and methods generate a moving aperture effect anterior to a retina that samples and delivers to the retina environmental light from an ocular field of view at a sampling rate between 50 hertz and 50 kilohertz. Certain of these V-VIS devices and methods may be combined with augmented or virtual reality, vision measurement, vision monitoring, or other therapies including, but not limited to, pharmacological, gene, retinal replacement and stem cell therapies.
Comprehensive intraocular vision advancement
An intraocular implant device for comprehensive intraocular vision advancement includes an intraocular implant body shaped for positioning inside a lens chamber of an eye. In some embodiments, the implant includes an optical adjustable base accommodating lens configured to provide both base adjustment and accommodation. In further embodiments, the implant includes a photoelectric sensor operable to receive incident light through the cornea and to convert the received light into electrical energy for use with one or more circuit components disposed on the body, and wherein the photoelectric sensor is also operable to convert the received light into image data. The ocular implant device may include a projector for projecting the image data onto the retina of a user. The ocular implant may additionally include an autofocusing digital camera, an autofocusing electromechanical lens array, and sensors for detecting glucose levels and/or intraocular eye pressure.
ACCOMMODATING INTRAOCULAR LENS
Disclosed is an accommodating intraocular lens device for treatment of an eye including a stabilization haptic (120) configured to be positioned within a region of an eye and a lens body having a sealed chamber containing a fixed volume of optical fluid. The lens body includes a shape changing membrane (145) configured to outwardly bow in a region surrounding the optical axis of the eye; a shape deformation membrane configured to undergo displacement relative to the first shape changing membrane; and a static element (150). An inner surface of the shape changing membrane, an inner surface of the shape deformation membrane and an inner surface of the static element collectively form the sealed chamber. The lens device also includes a force translation arm (115) having a first end configured to contact an outer surface of the shape deformation membrane of the lens body and a second end configured to engage a ciliary structure of the eye. The force translation arm is configured to move relative to the lens body upon movement of the ciliary structure.
Inflatable intra ocular lens/lens retainer
The invention provides for an inflatable intra ocular lens/lens retainer or a system of inflatable intra ocular lens/lens retainers, which are fitted into an aphakic eye, to substantially occupy the space previously held by the crystalline lens to retain and secure the position of delicate intra ocular structures of the eye. The inflatable lens/lens retainer may also be used suspend optical interfaces along the visual axis of the eye. The inflatable intra ocular lens/lens retainer may be pressed against residual elements of the lens capsule to re-establish accommodation. In the absence of a lens capsule, the inflatable intra ocular lens/lens retainer may be compressed directly by the ciliary muscle to alter the refractive state of the eye.
ADJUSTABLE OPTICAL SYSTEM FOR INTRAOCULAR MICRO-DISPLAY
An intraocular micro-display (IOMD) implant includes an enclosure shaped for implantation into an eye, a micro-display, a base lens, and an adjustable lens. The micro-display is disposed in the enclosure and oriented to emit an image towards a retina of the eye. The base lens has a fixed optical power, is attached to the enclosure, and is positioned relative to the micro-display to reside in an optical path extending between the micro-display and the retina. The base lens is configured to apply the fixed optical power to the image. The adjustable lens is disposed in the optical path between the micro-display and the retina. The adjustable lens has an adjustable optical power that is adjustable in-situ to adjust a focal distance of the image projected by the IOMD implant after the IOMD implant has been implanted into the eye.
METHODS AND DEVICES FOR WAVEFRONT TREATMENTS OF ASTIGMATISM, COMA, PRESBYOPIA IN HUMAN EYES
Methods and devices are provided for wavefront treatments of an eye's astigmatism, coma, and presbyopia. Wavefront-engineered monofocal lenses, inducing spherical aberration into the eye's central pupil, provide vision correction beyond 20/20 acuity and improve quality of vision by eliminating image distortion caused by uncorrected astigmatism and coma in the eye. New presbyopia-correcting lenses, including Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) bifocal, EDOF trifocal, and quasi-accommodating lenses, are disclosed for presbyopia corrections between +0.75 D to +3.25 D, and they are achieved by inducing a positive spherical aberration and a positive focus offset less than 3 Diopters in a central section plus a negative spherical aberration in an annular section within a central part of a monofocal lens. These wavefront lenses can be adapted for contact lenses, implantable contact lenses, Intraocular Lenses (IOLs), phakic IOLs, accommodating IOLs, corneal inlays, as well as eyepieces for Virtual Reality (VR) displays, game goggles, microscopes, telescopes.
