An intraocular device that includes a bas member is provided. The device can be an accommodation intraocular lens device with the base member and a power changing lens. The base member comprises an annular haptic that surrounds a central cavity having an open end. The power changing lens is configured to fit within the central cavity. The haptic comprises one or more projections, e.g., tabs that hold another device in position. In the case of the accommodating intraocular lens device, the other device is the power changing lens. The base member and the power changing lens are maintained separate until assembly in the eye of the patient. During assembly, the base member is advanced into the capsular bag of a patient through a capsulorhexis and oriented such that the open end of the central cavity faces the cornea. Subsequently, the power changing lens is advanced into the central cavity through the capsulorhexis. The one or more tabs are placed anterior of the power changing lens to secure the power changing lens within the cavity.

The invention relates to a method for producing an intraocular lens, including the steps of providing a container which is transparent to electromagnetic radiation and in which a liquid that is curable by the electromagnetic radiation is arranged; irradiating the liquid with a set of images formed by the electromagnetic radiation, which each depict an intraocular lens, with each of the images of the set being radiated into the liquid at a different angle of incidence with respect to a reference plane that extends through the liquid, as a result of which the liquid is cured and the cured liquid forms the intraocular lens, an actuator, a solar module and/or a sensor being arranged in the liquid and the intraocular lens being formed around the actuator, the solar module and/or the sensor.

DUAL REGION ACCOMMODATING INTRAOCULAR LENS DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS

Disclosed herein is an implantable accommodative IOL device for insertion into an eye of a patient, comprising an active region and a passive region. The active region has a first thickness and first refractive index, and the active region comprises an electrically responsive optical lens having variable optical power. The passive region is disposed at a periphery of the active region, and the passive region has a second thickness and a second refractive index. The second refractive index is different than the first refractive index. Thus, the light beams passing through the active and passive regions have a phase difference, thereby providing an extended depth of field.

PROSTHETIC CAPSULAR DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS

Prosthetic capsular devices (e.g., bag, bowl, housing, structure, cage, frame) include technology devices such as a computer, virtual reality device, display device, WiFi/internet access device, image receiving device, biometric sensor device, game device, image viewers or senders, GPSs, e-mail devices, combinations thereof, and/or the like. The technology devices can be used in combination with an intraocular lens. The output from the technology device(s) can be fed to the retina of the user to provide a visual image, can be otherwise connected to the user, and/or can be used to control the properties of the intraocular lens or of the prosthetic capsular device. Wearable technology that provides biometric data, such as blood glucose levels, body temperature, electrolyte balance, heart rate, EKG, EEG, intraocular pressure, sensing ciliary muscle contraction for accommodation stimulus, dynamic pupil change and retinal prostheses, combinations thereof, and the like can assist in technology-assisted health care functions.

An accommodating intraocular lens implant includes (a) a posterior lens unit and (b) an anterior assembly, which includes first and second anterior components, each of which comprises exactly one polymeric piece. The first anterior component is shaped so as to define an anterior floating lens unit and levers. The second anterior component (a) is assembled with the first anterior component such that the first and the second anterior components are separable from each other without tearing the anterior components, and (b) is shaped so as to define (i) an anterior rim complex, and (ii) anterior rim links, which are connected to the anterior rim complex. The levers are in jointed connection with the anterior floating lens unit, the anterior rim links, and the posterior lens unit. The levers are arranged to move the anterior floating lens unit toward and away from the anterior rim complex.

An intraocular optic assembly can include a first lens, a first plurality of stanchions, a second lens, and a second plurality of stanchions. A central optic axis can extend through centers of the first and second lenses. The first plurality of stanchions can each extend a first distance between a first base end and a first distal end. The first lens can be connected with the first distal ends. The second plurality of stanchions can each extend a second distance between a second base end and a second distal end. The second lens can be connected with the second distal ends. Compression at the peripheries of the stanchions induces movement of the lenses apart from one other.
