Intra-ocular lens for extended macular vision in patients with macular degeneration

An intraocular lens system comprising a single lens comprising two optical surfaces selected to maintain image quality at the foveal centre whilst reducing image aberration at preferred retinal locus locations outside of the fovea region.

Novel intraocular lenses comprising at least one haptic having a shape memory alloy with a transition temperature substantially higher than the human body temperature, the shape memory alloy being post-surgically, selectively adjustable with a laser beam.

Ophthalmic system including accommodating intraocular lens and remote component and related methods of use

Ophthalmic systems and methods of changing an optical power of an ophthalmic system are described. In an example, the ophthalmic system includes an accommodating intraocular device shaped to be implantable in an eye and an extraocular device separate from the accommodating intraocular device shaped to be removably mountable to a portion of the eye outside a bulb of the eye, such as an underlid portion of the eye. In an example, the method includes wirelessly transmitting power from a power source of an extraocular device removably mounted outside a bulb of an eye to an accommodating intraocular device implanted in the eye. In an example, the method includes sensing with an accommodation sensor biological accommodation signals of the eye; generating accommodation control signals representative of the biological accommodation signals; and driving an accommodation actuator disposed in the accommodating intraocular device based on the accommodation control signals to change an optical power of the ophthalmic system.

ADJUSTABLE INTRAOCULAR LENSES AND METHODS OF POST OPERATIVELY ADJUSTING INTRAOCULAR LENSES

Disclosed are adjustable intraocular lenses and methods of adjusting intraocular lenses post-operatively. In one embodiment, an adjustable accommodating intraocular lens comprises an optic portion and at least one haptic. At least part of the haptic can be made in part of a composite material comprising an energy absorbing constituent and a plurality of shrinkable and/or burstable microspheres. At least one of a base power of the optic portion can be configured to change in response to an external energy directed at the composite material.

Pinhole Intraocular Onlay

An example reinforcement ring for intraocular lenses may include at least include a support structure, first and second optical windows disposed on opposing sides of the support structure, and a reinforcement ring included in the apparatus to strengthen the support structure and the first and second optical windows. In some examples, the reinforcement ring is formed from a shape memory alloy, such as Nitinol.

Tuneable ophthalmic lens

The present disclosure concerns a tuneable ophthalmic lens 200. The tuneable ophthalmic lens comprises an activated state and a deactivated state. The ophthalmic lens further comprises a central chamber 206b. The ophthalmic lens also comprises a fluid reservoir, the fluid reservoir being in fluid communication with the central chamber. The fluid reservoir comprises a pump for pumping fluid between the fluid reservoir and the central chamber. In the deactivated state the central chamber is substantially empty of fluid 208a. In the activated state the central chamber is not substantially empty of fluid.

IMPLANTABLE ACCOMODATING INTRAOCULAR LENSES, IOL IMPLANTS, AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS

An accommodation-facilitating intraocular implant has: a ring sized to fit within a capsular lens bag of an eye; and a plurality of haptics angularly spaced around and radially extended from the ring. A multi-curve implantable accommodating intraocular lens has a convex anterior and concave posterior.

Efficient gesture-based contact lens algorithms for human to contact lens communication

An eye-mountable device is provided that includes an eyelid occlusion sensor. The eyelid occlusion sensor is used to detect winks, squints, downwards glances or looks, blinks, or other eye-based gestures generated by the user. Based on the detected gestures, an optical power of an adjustable lens of the device may be changed or some other operations could be performed by the eye-mountable device. Such operations could include toggling the optical power of the lens between first and second power levels due to the user squinting, looking downward, or performing some other gesture. Additionally or alternatively, such operations could include setting the optical power of the lens to a first optical power unless the user is looking downward, in which case the optical power of the lens could be set to a second optical power.

LIGHT CONTROL DEVICES AND METHODS FOR REGIONAL VARIATION OF VISUAL INFORMATION AND SAMPLING
20210364807 · 2021-11-25 ·

Exemplary light control devices and methods provide a regional variation of visual information and sampling (“V-VIS”) of an ocular field of view that improves or stabilizes vision, ameliorates a visual symptom, reduces the rate of vision loss, or reduces the progression of an ophthalmic or neurologic condition, disease, injury or disorder. The V-VIS devices and methods generate a moving aperture effect anterior to a retina that samples and delivers to the retina environmental light from an ocular field of view at a sampling rate between 50 hertz and 50 kilohertz. Certain of these V-VIS devices and methods may be combined with augmented or virtual reality, vision measurement, vision monitoring, or other therapies including, but not limited to, pharmacological, gene, retinal replacement and stem cell therapies.
