Embodiments disclosed herein relate to systems and methods for securing a drug delivery component to an intraocular lens (IOL) assembly. The systems generally include a support base and a plunger. The support base includes a first portion configured to accommodate a drug delivery component; and a second portion configured to act as a plunger guide. The plunger can be inserted into the plunger guide such that the plunger is positioned to interface with a drug delivery component and an IOL assembly during use. The plunger includes an elongated body and a tip, wherein the tip can include a ramp configured to interface with a fixation loop of a drug delivery component during use and a compartment configured to interface with a haptic of an IOL assembly during use.

Modular IOL systems including a base and a lens, wherein the lens includes fixed and actuatable tabs for connection to the base. The modular IOL allows for the lens to be adjusted or exchanged while leaving the base in place, either intra-operatively or post-operatively. Drug delivery capabilities and/or sensing capabilities may be incorporated into the base. Injector devices may be used to facilitate placement of the base and the lens sequentially or simultaneously into the eye.

An intraocular lens system may include a base that may include an annular body, an opening extending through the annular body in an axial direction of the annular body, and a recess extending circumferentially about the opening. The system also may include a lens that may be insertable into and removable from the recess. The lens may include a central optic, a first tab protruding radially away from the central optic, and a second tab protruding radially away from the central optic. The second tab may be more resistant to compression in a radial direction than the first tab. The first tab may include a first arm protruding radially away from the central optic, a second arm protruding radially away from the central optic and extending away from the first arm, and a third arm extending from the first arm to the second arm. Movement of one or more of the first, second, and third arms may result in deformation of the first tab.

Intraocular lens injector

An intraocular lens (IOL) injectors and associated methods are described. The IOL injectors may include a collapsible portion configured to reduce the length of the IOL injector when the collapsible portion is altered from an uncollapsed configuration to a collapsed configuration. In some instances, an IOL may be advanced from a storage location to a dwell location when the collapsible portion is altered from the uncollapsed configuration to the collapsed configuration. The IOL injectors may also include a combination push and screw drive.

An apparatus for delivering an implant to an eye using a ratchet drive. Some embodiments of an apparatus for delivering an implant to an eye may comprise a gear rack configured to be coupled to the implant, a forward gearwheel, an input gearwheel meshed with the forward gearwheel, an idler gearwheel meshed with the input gearwheel, and a reverse gearwheel meshed with the idler gearwheel. An actuation lever may be configured to rotate the input gearwheel. Some embodiments may additionally comprise a pivot arm that may be operable to selectively engage the forward gearwheel and the reverse gearwheel to the gear rack.
