Systems, methods, and devices for inserting an intraocular lens (IOL) assembly into an eye may be provided. An apparatus for delivery of a lens component into an eye, including: a housing; a nozzle operatively coupled to the housing; a plunger at least partially and moveably disposed within the housing for driving the lens component; and a spring that applies a biasing force to the plunger.

Intraocular lens inserter

An intraocular lens inserter can include a drive device with controllable advance motion. The drive device may include an actuator device and an energy device. The actuator device may include a piston rod that uses the advance motion to push an intraocular lens from a cartridge for insertion into an eye of an animal. The energy device may act upon the actuator device to generate the advance motion. The actuator device may include a dampening medium to control the advance motion, such as by controllably dampening the advance motion.

Systems, methods, and devices for inserting an intraocular lens (IOL) assembly into an eye may be provided. An apparatus for delivery of a lens component into an eye may include a housing. The apparatus may further include a plunger at least partially disposed in the housing, wherein the housing comprises an elongated portion and a viscoelastic soft tip at a distal end of the elongated portion, wherein the viscoelastic soft tip has a storage modulus of about 1 megapascal (MPa) to about 300 MPa and a loss module of about 1 MPa to about 300 MPa. The apparatus may further include a drive mechanism operatively coupled to plunger and configured to cause the plunger to translate in the housing. The apparatus may further include a nozzle operatively coupled to the housing through which the plunger delivers the lens component into the eye.

Ophthalmosurgical injector system

An ophthalmosurgical injector system includes an injector, which has a handpiece, a plunger, and a dispensing device; an intraocular lens, which has an optic body and two C-shaped haptic arms protruding therefrom; and a cartridge, in which the intraocular lens is received. The dispensing device has an inlet opening at the proximal end and an outlet opening at the distal end. When the plunger is moved forward, the intraocular lens is conveyed from the cartridge through the inlet opening to the outlet opening of the dispensing device. When the intraocular lens is held in the cartridge in a compressed and preloaded state, a subregion of each of the haptic arms bears on and covers the optic body. In a plan view, the optic body of the preloaded intraocular lens has a circular surface area with a diameter of at least 4.0 mm that is not covered by the haptic arms.
