Back loaded IOL insertion cartridge
A rear-loaded injector cartridge for an intraocular lens (IOL) having a proximal opening that provides a haptic slot. The haptic slot receives a leading haptic of an IOL loaded therein, and temporarily retains the leading haptic while the optic of the IOL is inserted into a holding area of the cartridge. As the optic passes by, the leading haptic folds over the top of the optic, on its anterior side. The length of the haptic retention slot is sufficient to maintain the leading haptic in its anteriorly folded position while the IOL remains in holding area, typically while the cartridge is mated with a handpiece of the injector. The cartridge also has a rear or proximal cut out which advantageously keys with a similarly-sized rail on the handpiece so that the cartridge cannot be inserted in the wrong way.
INTRAOCULAR LENS WITH SINGLE LENS TELESCOPE INTEGRATED IN THE OPTICAL PART THEREOF
An intraocular lens is provided. The intraocular lens includes an optical part and an adjoining haptic part. The optical part includes an optically imaging element and a telescope, the entire telescope being integrally formed and being integrated in the optical imaging element. The optically imaging element has a convexly-curved front side and a concavely-curved rear side. Further, the optically imaging element is arranged as a single lens system.
OPHTHALMIC LENS HAVING AN EXTENDED DEPTH OF FOCUS
In certain embodiments, an ophthalmic lens includes an optic having an anterior surface, a posterior surface, and an optical axis. At least one of the anterior surface and the posterior surface includes a first zone extending from the optical axis to a first radial boundary and a second zone extending from the first radial boundary to the edge of the optic. The first zone includes an inner region and an outer region separated by a phase shift feature, the phase shift comprising a ridge extending outwardly from the inner region and the outer region.
MULTIFOCAL LENS HAVING REDUCED VISUAL DISTURBANCES
A method and system provide an ophthalmic device. The ophthalmic device includes an ophthalmic lens having an anterior surface, a posterior surface, at least one diffractive structure and at least one base curvature. The at least one diffractive structure for provides a first spherical aberration for a first focus corresponding to at least a first focal length. The at least one base curvature provides a second spherical aberration for at least a second focus corresponding to at least a second focal length. The first spherical aberration and the second spherical aberration are provided such that the first focus has a first focus spherical aberration and the second focus has a second focus spherical aberration. The first focus spherical aberration is opposite in sign to the second focus spherical aberration.
Soft intraocular lens
An intraocular lens of the present invention has a substantially circular or elliptical optical lens portion made of a soft material, and an arm-shaped support arm portion attached to outer peripheral edges of this optical lens portion, and out of the peripheral edges of the optical lens portion that are contiguous to both sides in a width direction of a root of the support arm portion, at least one outer peripheral edge has a portion recessed inward from the convex curve. Thus, there is provided a soft intraocular lens that can be inserted into an eye from a further smaller incision, without damaging an optical function as much as possible.
Accommodating intraocular lens having dual shape memory optical elements
An accommodating intraocular lens (AIOL) for implantation in a human eye includes a housing including an anterior member with a leading surface, a posterior member with a trailing surface, a leading shape memory optical element adjacent the anterior member and resiliently elastically deformable between a non-compressed shape in a non-compressed state of the AIOL and a compressed shape in a compressed state of the AIOL, and a trailing shape memory optical element adjacent the posterior member and elastically deformable between a non-compressed shape in the AIOL's non-compressed state and a compressed shape in the AIOL's compressed state for selectively bulging into the leading shape memory optical element on application of a compression force the said longitudinal axis against the trailing surface from a posterior direction for modifying the shape of the leading shape memory optical element with respect to its non-compressed shape in the AIOL's the non-compressed state.
INTRAOCULAR LENS DESIGNS FOR IMPROVED STABILITY
Intraocular lenses (IOLs) that improve lens stability by, for example, increasing anterior-posterior stiffness of the IOL, increasing anterior-posterior dimensions of the IOL and/or increasing contact area with the equator of the bag to resist movement of the IOL as the bag collapses over time. These IOLs may be non-modular (single component) or modular (multiple component). In modular embodiments, the IOL system may include intraocular base and optic components, which, when combined, form a modular IOL.
Intraocular lens
An intraocular lens comprising an optic and four haptics extending from the optic, each haptic having a proximal end meeting with the optic at differing points about a periphery of the optic. The four haptics are arranged into a first pair comprising two arcuate haptics with curvature orientated toward each other such that a distal end of each of the two haptics of the first pair are in nearer relation than their proximal ends; and, a second pair comprising two arcuate haptics with curvature orientated toward each other such that a distal end of each of the two haptics of the second pair are in nearer relation than their proximal end.
Corneal implant and method of delivering a corneal implant
A method of inserting and securing a corneal implant in engaging and fluid-flow limiting relation to the posterior cornea, such as to treat edema. The method includes securing a corneal implant in fluid flow limiting relation to the posterior cornea through an incision in the eye and securing it in place by a variety of steps such as corneal insertion or laser bonding, and preferably by inserting a removable corneal implant including a central region and a plurality of retention member(s) disposed on the periphery thereof into the eye so as to releaseably and removably engage a portion of the eye and thereby retain the corneal implant in abutting and engaging relation with the posterior cornea. The retention members of the corneal implant may also comprise haptic leg(s) extending from the central region.
ADJUSTING THE APODIZATION PATTERN FOR DIFFRACTIVE IOLS
An ophthalmic device including an ophthalmic lens having anterior and posterior surfaces and at least one diffraction grating is described. The diffraction grating(s) are on the anterior and/or posterior surface(s). The diffraction grating(s) include zones. A first zone is at a first distance range from a center of the lens. A second zone is at a second distance range further from the center than the first distance range. A repeat zone is at a third distance range further from the center than the second distance range. The first zone includes echelette(s) having a first step height and a first radius of curvature. The second zone includes echelette(s) having a second step height and a second radius of curvature. The repeat zone includes echelette(s) having at least one of the first step height and the first radius of curvature.
