OPHTHALMIC DEVICE FOR DRUG DELIVERY
20220054310 · 2022-02-24 ·

An ophthalmic implant for drug delivery. The implant includes a primary intracapsular device coupled to a secondary device, wherein, when implanted in a patient's eye, the primary intracapsular device is held in place by the patient's capsular bag and the secondary device is held in place by the primary intracapsular device. The implant may be inserted in the eye by injecting the primary intracapsular device into the eye either before or after attaching the secondary device to the primary intracapsular device, and subsequently positioning the joined secondary device and primary intracapsular device with the primary intracapsular device held in place by the patient's capsular bag and the secondary device held in place by the primary intracapsular device. The secondary device may be designed to hold a tertiary device that can be implanted and attached at the time of surgery or anytime postoperatively.

INTRAOCULAR LENS CUSTOMIZED FOR ASTIGMATISM OR COMBINED ASTIGMATISM AND PRESBYOPIA
20170304047 · 2017-10-26 ·

An intraocular lens comprises a lens body customized for astigmatism in a particular eye. For the customization to work, the astigmatism in the lens has to be aligned with astigmatism in the eye. Thus the intraocular lens comprises four protrusions arranged outwardly around the lens body to form the four corners of a substantially rectangular profile. The profile locks the intraocular lens into a position of rotational stability when inserted into a capsular bag, thus preventing rotation of the intraocular lens, which would otherwise tend to occur both immediately after insertion into the capsular bag and later on during growth, shrinkage or other change to the capsular bag. The Intraocular lens may additionally be customized for other eye conditions and a multi-focal embodiment is also disclosed.

INTRAOCULAR LENS WITH SINGLE LENS TELESCOPE INTEGRATED IN THE OPTICAL PART THEREOF

An intraocular lens is provided. The intraocular lens includes an optical part and an adjoining haptic part. The optical part includes an optically imaging element and a telescope, the entire telescope being integrally formed and being integrated in the optical imaging element. The optically imaging element has a convexly-curved front side and a concavely-curved rear side. Further, the optically imaging element is arranged as a single lens system.

Foldable intraocular lens and method of making

A foldable intraocular lens for providing vision contains an optic body that includes an optical zone and a peripheral zone entirely surrounding the optical zone. The optic body has an anterior face, a substantially opposing posterior face, an optic edge, and an optical axis. The anterior face comprises a central face, a peripheral face, and a recessed annular face therebetween that is disposed posterior to the peripheral face. The intraocular lens further comprises at least one haptic that is integrally formed with the peripheral zone. The haptic comprises a distal posterior face, a proximal posterior face, and a step edge disposed at a boundary therebetween. The haptic further comprises a side edge disposed between the optic edge and the step edge. The proximal posterior face and the posterior face of the optic body form a continuous surface. An edge corner is formed by the intersection of the continuous surface with the optic edge, the side edge, and the step edge.

Polymeric composition exhibiting nanogradient of refractive index

Ionized radiation-absorbed, dose sensitive, highly flexible polymeric compositions are provided that exhibits multidirectional changes in refractive index. Also provided are methods of producing a precision multi-directional nanogradient of refractive index in a polymeric composition.

An intraocular lens with an anterior ridge designed to provide a space in front of the lens optic.

Intraocular lens and method of manufacturing the same

Provided is an intraocular lens including: an optic portion; and a haptic portion extending from the optic portion, wherein a pattern having ridges and grooves is formed on at least one of the optic portion and the haptic portion, and each of the grooves has a nanostructure roughness. Provided also is a method of manufacturing an intraocular lens, the method including: seating an object to be processed including an optic portion and at least one haptic portion extending from the optic portion, processing a predetermined pattern for guiding cells by performing laser irradiation on the haptic portion and the optic portion, forming grooves having a nanostructure surface roughness in the predetermined pattern formed by laser beams, and the surface of each of the grooves has an average roughness Ra less than 200 nm.

INTRAOCULAR LENS DESIGNS FOR IMPROVED STABILITY

Intraocular lenses (IOLs) that improve lens stability by, for example, increasing anterior-posterior stiffness of the IOL, increasing anterior-posterior dimensions of the IOL and/or increasing contact area with the equator of the bag to resist movement of the IOL as the bag collapses over time. These IOLs may be non-modular (single component) or modular (multiple component). In modular embodiments, the IOL system may include intraocular base and optic components, which, when combined, form a modular IOL.

An intraocular lens comprising an optic and four haptics extending from the optic, each haptic having a proximal end meeting with the optic at differing points about a periphery of the optic. The four haptics are arranged into a first pair comprising two arcuate haptics with curvature orientated toward each other such that a distal end of each of the two haptics of the first pair are in nearer relation than their proximal ends; and, a second pair comprising two arcuate haptics with curvature orientated toward each other such that a distal end of each of the two haptics of the second pair are in nearer relation than their proximal end.
